Thank you for continue talking about the GH6, for me is a beast of a camera, I love the color science and I love to shoot open gate. I don’t know what it is but when I compare with other cameras like Sony A7IV, everything looks more cinematic in the GH6. It’s my favorite camera ever.

Proud user of Lumix cameras since 2008. Never looked back. Great video dude. I use lumix cameras exclusively for photography. Video is not my cup of tea. As a photographer tool, lumix cameras re awesome.

The GH6 is my second camera, the first being a Sony A6400, which i sold. It seems most have a love/hate relationship with the GH6, but my experience has been positive. Granted, i only have the A6400 to compare it with. I do feel the Sony camera had marginally better low light capability, and better auto focus, however, the GH6 is a beast of a camera with plenty o' features and it works well for me. I have learned to embrace manual focus and enjoy the art and challenges MF presents. I would like to try a Lumix AF lens, though, as the only AF lens i currently own is a Sigma

I'm waiting for an updated GH camera with phase detect autofocus . I love the fluidity coupled with great stabilization in the GH6 , its one of best camera's for video if you don't mind pulling focus. its only a matter of time until Lumix release it , and I think its going to be legendary like the GH5 was. beside not being full frame it will rival and be better then FX3\6 in many regards. but who knows maybe there is a GH7S in the works too .. that would be awesome. I'm tempted with the GH6 as it is but I do need good autofocus for what I do

Loved the conversation guys! Definitely still love my GH6, but looking forward to a GH7. Mostly agree with what you guys said and the GH6 definitely has its quirks, but the image it produces is just stunning

Yeah! I think the most interesting part Rhett said was not the issue, but the fear of the streaking issue has. But still produces such nice images at the end of the day! Gonna have to get you on an episode soon too!

but on the forums people say that the image iq lowered with the S5ii and gii due to the new autofocus and that the S5 and GH6 have better image iq. So the GH7 may be a downgrade

Hi I used on my ipad pro a usb C splitter which allows me pd charged and 4 usb c sdd hardrive connection at full speed so it schould be possiblr to record and chatge at the same time using a specifical splitter...could brick the camera as well😅i😅😅

I haven't even explored half of what my GH6 can do. The "flippy uppy" screen is very important for my work too. The lights, the buttons, the CFexpress option, internal recording of all codecs, the feel in my hands, the look, the ruggedness, the fan... it all just feels right. And it's much cheaper than even a discounted G9II in our markets here. The GH6 wasn't made for everybody. It seems it was designed to be used in a controlled set/rig in professional/prosumer settings. The average hobbyist or consumer would likely not love the camera. While some things might not be in shape, there are always ways to work around the issues. I don't even think I'm particular about Phase Detect AF. I'd rather have stuff like internal NDs or expanding dynamic range in a GH7/6S/6II.

The Flippy Uppy Screen is the number one thing I miss as a working professional! I just feel sketchy having my screen always open sideways on a video shoot

Honestly I never got the chance to work with any of the box cinema cameras. It would be cool to see a red Komodo X style or FX6 style update to those bodies in the future🤷🏼‍♂️

In my country gh6 and new g9 are still around the same price, no big discount here in germany but you can have an original s5 for 1000€ without lense.

Thanks for the video!! My thoughts - Thank God for the cf express type B slot! We use dual recording when filming in most modes, and for any modes we need prores, we have a backup recording through the atomos ninja while the main records through the cf express type b card. Also, might be possible to film to both external ssd and cf express type b, but have never tried. Bigger than the auto focus negative is the occasional sensor streaking - HORRIBLE. Other than that, we love this camera

I LOVE the color science and IQ of the GH6!! I still can't find another camera that looks as good, including the S5IIX. From reading Lumix's past comments on how PDAF lowers the IQ of cameras, they were definitely correct. You can totally see the difference even between the S5 and the S5II. The colors and IQ are so much better on the OG S5... Can't wait until technology allows Lumix to make a PDAF sensor that matches the IQ and colors of the GH6!!

Yeah the color for sure is so pleasing on the GH6! It is like the same but just different to the PDAF Lumix Cameras. Much softer and warmer

Speaking the truth man! Although the trade of for phase detection is almost certainly worth it for most people most of the time, but theres a reason for my cinematic work I always reach for the GH6.

@@MatthewDangyou My GH6 is not softer than my G9II, both have exactly the same fine details rendering and sharpening. You may find the GH6 softer if you use AFC in 4K/C4K/5,7K with frame rates below 48fps because this camera has a bug never solved by Panasonic, the focus is innacurate as soon as you press the record button (you can see the difference when cropping). But when using AF-S, the focus is 100% accurate, this is why I never use AFC with the GH6 with low frame rates. Using 48,60,120fps solves the issue most of the time. Another issue of the GH6 AF compared to the GH5 is the Open Gate, the GH6 has much more pulsing than the GH5 in this mode, no focus accuracy issue this time but the GH6 is slower and pulse a lot more. Also, like the S5II with the linear profiles (and to a lesser extent in V-log), the 4K coming from these cameras is simply not good for fine details, they are rougher than on my GH5, G9, S1 and S5. Like if the image is upscaled from a lower resolution. And this has nothing to do with PDAF, because when using BRAW on the S5II, the image is perfect, the same than fine details than on the GH5,G9,S5 and S1. If you want the best quality for the GH6 and G9II, 5,7K is much better but the IBIS is slightly worse than in 4K/C4K, it also add a slight crop compared to C4K. When I see so few people speaking about these issues and almost zero influencer, I wonder if these cameras really sell well. This is a shame because Panasonic cameras used to have the best internal video quality below 4000$, their IBIS is top notch and even if the GH6 is really disappointing, it has the best colors science I have seen since a long time.

The only reason why i dont buy a gh6 is the removal of a vertical grip option and the bad dynamic range for photos up to iso 800.

indeed, the dynamic range for photos is really not so good The dynamic range for photo in the G9 mark 1 was far better than the gh6

@@ohdeazy1567 thats bad. I would love to own a gh6 but as a gh5 user for me photo and video are equally important. My camera has the same sensor as g9 and i am very happy with my images. I dont want less than this even tough the dynamic range problem is up to 800 iso only with gh6. i usually shoot at iso 400, not higher.
