What would be your biggest pro or con?

Often passengers only see the "final product" but don't recognize that, like in a cooking show, a lot of prep work has gone into it beforehand that is not on tv. In the case of the corporate flight attendant, they are not always fully compensated for this time and energy.

@@shadowmist1246 you're 100% right, I love that comparison!

A really good and interesting video and comparison... As you know through previous chats, I am part 91 also, all be it directly for the owner not the company. We do have, sometimes, MASSIVE issued with time keeping, and although we are part 91, we work very much to duty limitations on time, and the principal is aware of this. But, even what could be classed a relatively "short" day can turn into an epic long day for exactly the reasons you state. We can often sit and wait for 3/4/5 hours before taking off for a 5/6 hour flight down to Southern Africa. And it becomes tiring. We are lucky that we work a rotation. As the principal does not want African crew, he only employs people who he has to bring crew down from Europe so we work a month on and a month off, so although we don't get paid "vacation" time, we have 4 weeks off and know we can plan a holiday or trip away during our off time, and yes we are still paid for every month, even the month at home. One of the nice perks that happens relatively often on 91 for us is accommodation. Sometimes our boss will tell us that he has taken care of the hotel rooms for us (we usually book our own and the company pays for it), and the times he has done that, it has been mind blowing. I never, in my life, thought I would get to stay at somewhere like Sandy lane in Barbados, but, thanks to this job, I have...! Yes, my 4 weeks on duty can be hard going if we are busy, but we tend to get a decent warning of schedule, and "pop up" trips are very, very few and far between for us. In almost 4.5 years with the same boss, I can count on one hand the number of pop up trips we have done.

we have chatted about our jobs before but I never realized what your schedule was like. designated time off is so important and it sounds like your situation is a good one. Of course I am sure you need half of that off time to recover from your on time :) I think landing a part 91 job for an amazing owner is best case scenario for a CFA! especially one who doesn't have you fly pop up trips!

One of the major reasons people fly private is to have this flexibility of not only in scheduling but in actual final flying times that vary from the scheduling. Part 135 managers and part 91 owners need to ensure that policies are established regarding this which must include compensating the crew for the additional time (including the FA).
@JacquelineTravels
@JacquelineTravels 3 года назад
definitely. the compensation gets tricky because if you are part 91 you are paid a salary and if you are contracting you have a day rate. now if you fly even 3 minutes into the next day, you can definitely fight for another days pay

@@JacquelineTravels While daily rates work fine for contractor-client relationships, it has been my experience that they are mostly problematic in employee-employer relationships due to the issue of overpaid vs underpaid.

Jacqueline I had a question I know you stated that in another video the pilots check the passengers passport but is there any security check for the passenger making sure they are not carrying anything dangerous. I know commercial flight we go through TSA security I wasn't sure for cooperate if its done differently.
@JacquelineTravels
@JacquelineTravels 3 года назад
Great question. Security is usually done in the FBO before passengers walk out to the airplanes. It differs between each FBO but they have metal detectors and luggage scanners

And then when we land international the plane and all bags are searched. It’s a little less thorough domestically

Where do you sleep in a private jet? If there are no crew rest area?
@JacquelineTravels
@JacquelineTravels 3 года назад
usually there is no sleeping on a pj but if it’s overnight and your clients are sleeping you can rest on your jumpseat, in the flight deck, somewhere in the galley. there is always something to do on a pj even when pax are sleeping so unlike commercial FA’s we don’t have a designated crew rest or area

If one were to analyze all of the pre-owned long range jets (ie G650/ER, Globals, etc), the engine cycle to time ratio indicates that the actual average flight duration used for these long range jets is far shorter than what they are capable of.
