A very good evening ma'am, this is one of your students who follow you and it's a humble request please come up with a new prosody scansion practice as the exam is around the corner!!😂😂 I'm eagerly waiting for a new video!!
mam why in the first question the word pity is disyllabic?? it only has one vowel . sorry if I'm wrong and if I take pity as one syllable and make the last line iambic pentameter then will that be right?
When 'y' is placed at the end of a word or in the middle then it acts as a vowel. When y is placed at first then it is consonant. That's why 'y' is called semivowel. So, in pity y is a vowel.
Mam one question, in the first scansion the repetition of 3 consequent untressed sound has been grouped as pyrrhic but somewhere I read that the middle one generally gets considered as a stressed sound. Can you pls clear up the confusion whether we can group it as iambic and not pyrrhic?
''I sit in the top of the wood, my eyes closed. Inaction, no falsifying dream Between my hooked head and hooked feet Or in sleep rehearse perfect kills and eat ''. Mam, I have some problem on this👆🏻 Scansion....plz help me 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I solved this, I'm not sure of the answer though, I'll anyway post it. The dominant meter is Trochaic. Variations : the second foot of the first line is amphibrach. the last syllable, in the second line, 'gory' is Catalectic. the last syllable, in the third line, 'stone' is again Catalectic. even in the last line, the last syllable, 'glory' is Catalectic. *I don't know if the words "carved", " raised", "gory", and "glory" are monosyllabic or disyllabic.
Ma'am in Q. 7 ( Citiesa and Thrones nd Powers). If I give the slash after cities them Cities will b trochaic nd the rest will be in iambic. Like that in most of the poem it will be iambic. Nd instead of having three variations like Asephalous, Anapaestic, trochaic nd spondaic. But if we do it how I told then it will be easy nd we will get only 2 variations(Trochaic & Spondaic) nd it will b easy to show the predominant meter as Iambic. Ma'am if am wrong then pls do correct me!
Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments; love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. ---- mam can you help me to solve this prosody
Ma'am i have a question to ask, While solving these along with your video, in the lines (half a league, half a league/ half a league on ward) isn't league a disyllabic word? If it is one then shouldn't i put stress on the "lea" part? @29:17 My apologies if I'm wrong.
ma'am, could you please scan the following passage - "Slowly and sadly we laid him down, From the field of his fame fresh and gory, We carved not a line, and we raised not a stone But we left him alone with his glory."
'Slow-|ly and |'sad-|ly we |'laid |him 'down 'From |the 'field |of his |'fame |fresh |and 'gory 'We |carv'd |not a |'line, |and we |'rais'd |not a |'stone 'But |we 'left |him a-|'lone |with his |'glory In this version, the stressed syllables are marked with (') while the unstressed syllables are left unmarked. The '|' symbol separates each foot, and the iambic pentameter pattern of unstressed-stressed syllables is maintained with five feet in each line.
MAM !! 13:31 " Out like wise " Its a anapaest.. But.. Out like | wisé Can we declare the word *WISE* Catalectic ? Edit : oops sorry *WISE* word isn't a syllable 😅😅
