Since first seeing this waterfall plunge pool I’ve wanted to dive in and look at the bottom of it. The weather is warm enough to go in and see what the bedrock looks like. The bedrock slants back towards the waterfall so it’s worth taking a couple buckets of dirt and investigating if any gold settled in. Day two was spent prospecting for gold on the property. This area has become increasingly hard to prospect because of the floods of 2023…whatever happens, just being outside is a reward in itself.

Yeah bro I was cracking up while I filmed the cell phone! Figured you’d get a kick out of that 🤣. I agree with you about being underwater. The one thing I always do is a safety check of the slopes above for rocks and debris. Also it so easy to get tunnel vision underwater because it’s always a surreal world. That’s awesome that you are dive master certified, very cool!

Dragging all the equipment to the stream is never a problem. You are excited and curious about the day. What I always hate is the way back. Tired and less energetic. I really enjoyed snorkeling. It is easier to shovel underwater 😆. Very nice video, mate ⚒👍🤠

Thanks Peter! Yeah it’s funny how excited we get starting the adventure and then having to haul all that gear out lol! Snorkeling 🤿 is my favorite part about prospecting, I just don’t do enough of it.

Great looking, but definitely no gold there... Any place without bedrock tends to be pretty sparse...

Since most of what your chasing is glacial gold, in the spots where the water goes well over the bank and washes the higher, old banks, look for spots where the channel narrows back down, that will be a spot where the washed out glacial gold from the higher banks, has a chance to concentrate. Though, that may not still be on your property depending on how far down river you own.

There’s a couple spots like that. I did find gold after the flood in a spot like you mentioned. It was flour gold and was still good to see 🙂👊🏻

The water volume is getting lower for sure, makes it harder to run equipment and takes longer to process dirt. Could definitely run more dirt with more volume but probably would have found fly poop on this day lol.
