God bless my brother, I just came out of surgery, 13 days from my Prostate cancer. The good news they took out the cancer And? Then fix my hernia. As well. Thanks for your input on the pands !
Awesome, thx for sharing brother in Christ. I'm getting my catheter out on 7/24 and praying I won't have heavy incontinence. I also play drums, God Bless you and we serve a Faithful God through Christ our Lord. Press on my Brother.
You’ve helped me tremendously! I’m going on 3 week post surgery. Zero pain, no pain meds at all, light workouts and feeling awesome! I’ll take the temporary incontinence for a lifetime of health and happiness!
Couldn’t agree with you more about the incontinence! Glad to hear you’re doing so well and that you enjoy the videos, blessings and prayers for complete recovery for you!
Thanks for all your updates. Much appreciated! I’m a week out of catheter and leaking all day. Bothers me a lot so your updates and the evidence of the healing power of time are heartening
Thanks for this video. Just got my Foley removed two days ago. I am wearing the same pull up but it is hot here in Texas. I will be ordering some shields and hoping they work just as good. I am not having major leaks just little ones. You're absolutely right about getting the cancer out, that is the most important aspect of surgery. God be with you and stay healthy!
I sincerely appreciated this video. Your candor and insights have been very helpful for me. Thank you for your willingness to share your story and experiences! God bless you!
Thanks for your video, I'm 3 weeks post op, no pain, light incontinence, and back to walking and normal routine. I wear one depends a day, then change it at night after I shower. I will probably switch to the pads in another week or so. Thanks again for your valuable insights and experience. God bless.
Russ, much appreciate the specific product recommendations for incontinence management. Getting my foley catheter removed tomorrow and stocking up on the Fit Flex underwear and maxi pads now. Blessings for what you're doing, brother, and yes, the Lord Jesus Christ is our Healer!
5 weeks… very similar path. Your videos are huge help. Thank you for your honesty about details others skip over. Also appreciate sharing your faith… most important part.
5 weeks in for me. Things have improved vastly. If sitting laying down, or sleeping I can hold and empty a full bladder still have leakage of course. When standing and moving around I can't seem to keep it contained well but I'm sure it's going to improve. Using the depends pullups without extra pads now. I feel confident that in a week I'll be able to use pads in tightly whities. It's a slow process but keep up the Kegal exercises as much as possible, even when you wake up in the middle of the night and you will improve fine.
Three weeks out till i have my robotic operation done through Beaumont Health systems. Age Of 52 psa 3.4 so far the hardest part is getting to see lung and heart doctor over the holidays and the test they want done. Relatively physically fit. Appreciate your candid explanations of what you went through.
Just learned of my diagnosis last week and learned of recommended treatment yesterday - radical prostatectomy. Didn't expect to hear that considering all the other options for those with Gleason 7 and intermediate risk. My surgeon was just being honest with me in my estimation. Yes, surgeons like to cut and often recommend surgery from the git go, but the philosophy of just getting the cancer out entirely is what's persuading me, and I believe in my surgeon. I'm also 63 and thin in build, so I can very much relate to your experience. Thank you & bless you for your empathy for others and willingness to share such intimate information. Your videos will eventually reach thousands of people in the coming years, IMO, and many will find much comfort in them. Best wishes for a long, cancer-free life!
Do all the research you can, the more you know the more in control you will feel over the cancer. For me, I was in the camp that says get it out, so I did. I’ve had a great result and I pray you will also have a great result, blessings!
Thank you... Thank you... Thank you Sir... I have watched all of your videos before my surgery and I am now two week after surgery. Your videos have helped me tremendously. You are very kind and a brave man. God Bless You
Doctors recommended me to wear diapers when I was a child because of a bladder disease I had. Since then, I cannot hold the urge to do number one, but I learn how to control it through the years. Now I wear diapers when it comes to long travels by bus, when the weather gets cold or sometimes to sleep. I just watched your video and I found it helpful, not only for me but for people who really are struggling with these kinds of Illnesses. I am a new subscriber. Greetings and stay healthy! ;)
Thanks again. Great information. Great video. I'm 68 and will get my date for surgery tomorrow. Can't wait to get this cancer out of me (like you). You are really doing a great service to all of us with this disease.
Stephen, Hope you are doing well. I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning @ 11:30 a.m. If it wasn't for the fine gentleman here and his videos and encouragement, I would be completely a mess. Also the reassurance of his trust in God has helped. MY faith has waned. Please let me know how you are getting along. I am 67. Feel free to facebook me if you like. God Bless. Praying for your complete recovery.
Thank you for this video! I’m going into my 3rd week after surgery and 3rd day after the catheter was removed and I’m concerned about the incontinence as I’m changing about 7 times during the day as well... but I realise it’s only 3 days too. I just got back from flying in from singapore... after 30 hours plus or so (including layovers in Seoul and lax) and was constantly leaking. The inserts I was using was just an extra depends with all the trimmings cut off. Your method seems right on target. I’m a pilot with an airline and once I head back to work I’m praying I have the same results you have had... and finally, my Wife has been such a fantastic support and my Christian faith brings it all together... thank you for your videos and thank you to all of you posting videos to assist in this challenge we have all faced or will face... best wishes to all of us!
I was back to work after about 10 days and those first couple of weeks I thought the leaking would never stop....but it did. Could be that it is worse for you as a pilot up there at 30,000 feet. My wife, faith, and a good doctor made it a positive experience. Blessings, hang in there, it's going to get better!
drummeruss thanks for your reply! I have been surprised at the all of the men out there supporting each other on the prostate cancer challenges! My father passed away in 1993 at the age of 60 with prostate cancer just as the PSA check was just coming out. I’m 63 and since he died, I have had my PSA checked ever 6 months... as I get my flight physical every 6 months I figured for the extra 30$ might as well get the PSA checked... it probably saved my life catching it early. Anyway.... I found your videos very informative and down to earth. Attitude as paramount in this journey and I’m grateful for your videos. Wishing you all the best! Randy
I am 1 year out now (also 63) and cancer free (yay) I am still using a mens heavy pad in my underware and I go through 2 or possibly 3 a day - I get the Solomio brand on amazon (cheapest) and they work perfect - I am also using tight cotton or athletic shorts - NO BOXERS - Thanks for the great videos ...... Still no sexual function but I was having some issues prior to surgery in that area.
I am simply shocked at finding your channel tonight. I am 50 years old, a fellow drummer with a weekly church gig, been playing since drum-line in High School, I follow Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire, love the Chevy Camero, and I am 7 days out from Prostatectomy surgery. I am having my catheter out in two days and was looking for a video with a run down on pads and here you are answering Gods call making videos. Thank you so very much. I feel much better about about my upcoming appointment. I can't wait to get this thing out of me! I want to go back to being wireless. LOL. I have watched all of your videos and can't thank you enough. May God richly bless you.
God answers our prayers! Loved reading your comment, Hope you recover 100%. I’ve been playing in a worship band since 1996, best seat in the house on Sunday! Blessings!
@@drummeruss How long did you take off playing? I have a roc-n-soc thrown. I noticed they don't want me on a riding lawn mower, motorcycle, horse etc. Wondering how many Sunday"s you took off. Rough day today. Diarrhea and terrible gas, ran a temperature of 100.2. Lots of pain. Lots of praying.
Thanks for the info, you have been very brave. My dad just did this surgery and he has no control over his urine flow, I really hope he will at least get to the stage you are at now. Thank you again for this first hand knowledge.
I'm 58 your Dad must do the Kegal exercises regularly and he will see dramatic improvement.I was slack on them and not drinking enough water , that caused problems of not flushing kidneys out.If your father had robotic removal I'm not sure how radiation is but he MUST do the exercises, walk as much as he can a day he will see improvement quick! God Bless You.You worry about your father like my son does about me ❤
Thank you for sharing these videos. My surgery is Aug 4th. Looking forward to getting the cancer out. I like the open and honest talk about what to expect.
Hi i am 7 weeks after having my prostate out . using same pads, a nuisance but worth it. No pain . I am 75 and am clear of cancer. Hopefully another good few years. Keep having PSA tests you people out there.
Thank you, besides the Holep operation (in my case benign hyperplasia, but complicated with bladder stones) a real person explaining the recovery path of post-operatory incontinence. I wish I would have come across your video before today, I am going on my 5th month (19th week) of incontinence recovery, my understanding is that because it was a very large prostate & bladder stone (almost 4-hour procedure) my incontinence is taking longer. Anyways, as I think you said in video, first relief because it's over, but then comes “the incontinence”, at first you think ok …it was expected, then the weeks and the months go by, I started on oxybutynin for overactive bladder in my 4th or 5th week, and you begin to fear am I one of the 1 or 2% that never recover? Week 6th - 7th things improved pretty much, then stayed the same for another 4 to 5 weeks and things got even better! Last week (week 18th) I was becoming somewhat frustrated (although I was leaking less), and this past March 16th I forgot to take the oxybutynin and it was a great day I had almost no leak! So, I unilaterally stopped taking it (we’ll see what the docs says in my follow-up). So today I started looking for something smaller (the shield) to buy and I came across your video. To summarize, - Operated October 23, back home next day and started with Depends underwear maximum leakage and started Oxybutynin 10mg - January started with “Amazon Basics Guards Maximum” although I was leaking less I didn’t have enough confidence to go lighter. - March, I almost do not leaking (1 pad a day and only a couple of drops) and looking for light incontinence shield. - Sorry I went so long, but I wanted to put this out for whoever comes after me and can’t find anything to relate to. Again, thank you
I also had surgery last august. My incontinence is still there. I’m using pads and a clamp. Can you send me the kegel exercises that you’re using. I try to do it at least once a day but I get discouraged because it’s not been very effective. Maybe i was doing it wrong, maybe i didn’t do it as often as i should. Thanks for your videos and your advice
I enjoy your presentation. You mentioned the use of Wiesner Incontinence Clamp. Did your doctor approved or recommended it to you? After how long from removing the catheter could you use the clamp? How about a thick rubber or silicon "O" ring? could it work as well if it blocks the urine? just harder to put on and remove.(just an idea and it is much cheaper than the clamp). Thank you.
Hi and thanks for sharing your experience. Today it us my 4th day after removal of the catheter. I am concerned because my urine string is thin some times interrupted with drops, I push and the string does not change the caliber. I was thinking to call the surgeon tomorrow. I wanter to ask since your catheter was removed you had a strong thick string , I mean normal like before surgery?
Yes, mine was strong after the catheter was removed, I suggest you contact your doctor, make sure there is no blockage, don't wait. You will be in my prayers today for healing.
I couldn't find any that thickness for men. The stay free were just right, not to thick, not too thin. I could wear pants to work and feel pretty comfortable and at the same time know I could absorb a lot of leakage before a change. If you find something better, go for it. These pads worked perfect for my situation.
I am having robotic prostatectomy 4/1/19. My concern is for the first week. I will be alone during the day from day 2 on. Will I be able to get around the house ok? What kind of pants would you recommend for when I am wearing a catheter?
Sweat pants or any loose clothing works great, I was in shorts most of the time. You should have no problem getting around, my wife was with me the first three days then I was alone after that. You will be fine, just take it slow, no lifting, relax and read a good book!! I will be praying for you, 4/1 is my birthday so I will be thinking about you that day!
@@drummeruss Thanks for this video. Surgery two weeks ago. They got all the cancer. Thanks for the prayers. I am using the pads with the depends and it is working great. I started my own Vlog at Roamer321.
@drummeruss I use large freezer bags for disposal, pop it in, squeeze out the air and tie off, no doors from the trash. 3 and a half weeks fromsfrom su
It will depend on how much you leak. If you leak a lot, you will want a pad inside the depend, if very little, then the depend is perfect on it's own. When I had heavy leakage in the beginning, I found that a pad alone would not keep me dry. (can leak out and pants get wet) The depend with a pad can hold a lot of leakage with no fear of your pants getting wet.
I was constantly leaking for about two weeks. I could get a decent stream at times, but for the most part, it all came out in the Depends! Then by the 3rd and 4th week significant improvement. Hang in there, keep using as many pads a you need, I expect that by week 6 you will be feeling great!
So, when things started to improve, what was initial noticeable change? I’m working around the house everyday (there’s just a lot t do). Aa a result, every time I turn around I’m “dribbling” and there are times I have to go and lye down to take that feeling away or having to urinate and dribbling.
@@randycrew Within a couple of days my heavy leaking suddenly stopped and I would only leak if I exerted myself. It happened suddenly after leaking heavy fora couple of weeks.
I'm a man who struggles with urinary incontinence too, but for a different reason, I have cerebral palsy, and I was premature and have a weak bladder that's too small, I'm 26 so I don't think I have prostate issues yet, I'm too young, I just have occasional little wettings in my bed while sleeping, do you leak in bed too?, I find it embarrassing and I don't like wetting the bed
No incontinence for me when sleeping, though I still sleep on a hospital pad in case I do. I will probably stop that shortly. Only leaked a couple of times early on. Maybe Kegel exercises will help you, if you haven't tried them, you probably should and certainly consult with your doctor...blessings!
Same here, it’s been three years and I rarely leak but on the occasion that I do, I feel better with the pad, it’s just become a daily routine I don’t even think about it anymore.
So when you say, 'Surgery....your talking about the full removal of the Prostate? ....and when you say, 'Changing these out 7 times.......... did you mean, ' A day?........... and then you go on to say, as time went on ( 6 weeks) your healing and adjustment ..... showed great improvement in your 'accident' factor?........... Are these things True?.....
