Winter Weather is Upon us! That means Lots of ICE and some snow here in Arkansas. Since our Roof is not fully installed yet, we need to do something to Protect the zip board up Our Cabin Homestead Roof From The Coming weather. Today we installed a Grace High Temperature Ice & Water Shield Underlayment. Lets hope this works!

Just for future reference, or others looking for another option: The underlayment that we used on our roof has a 180-day exposure rating. It's called Certainteed Winterguard HT. It can handle temps up to 250 degrees under a metal roof. We have no complaints, it's an excellent product. And it stuck well.

No, planes do not have horns. Just give them a big arm wave. If the pilot sees you and wants to acknowledge you, he or she will waggle their wings at you. 😄 Good job on the ice and water shield! The roof looks great, and it must feel good knowing your home is more protected from the weather now. ❤

When I was little they used to fly over where we lived often. When we would wave at them they would rock back and forth to wave back at us. It was quite a thrill for us kiddos back in the day

No horns. We also have c-130's flying over our house, sometimes making the house shake. Also, more often, we have all sorts of helicopters flying over. I enjoy seeing and hearing them as it reminds me of my time in the Army.

Not horns for use like an automobile. Some do, however, have a ground call horn to call ground services at the airport. I am so happy to see you're covering the roof deck.😊

Ok.. Mel.. the equivalent of getting a horn honk from a pilot.. stand with arms wide and tip side to side.. if they see you, you may get a wing wave back!! Just as cool as a trucker honk, just more rare!!

Gary, there is a couple Lance and Cinda Serafin, that posted their efforts to protect their chickens from the cold. Very "Kiss principle" solution easy to install. They are from the Hot Springs area and would be a great addition to your Meet Up in May! ❤❤

That looked like a C-130 Airforce plane flying over. I used to live right outside of the Little Rock Airforce Base, and those planes flew over our house constantly at about that same altitude. Also, occasionally, while driving to or from work going past the flight line, if one was landing, they'd be literally tree top level right over the car. It would startle the holy crap out of me!

Regardless of what anyone says that Grace is the best it’s Rated for 180+ days I don’t give a Rats 🐀 donkeys cousin what no one says ! U guys done Excellent getting the Grace 😉 because regardless of opinion Grace is THE BEST ICE & WATER SHIELD you can use. Many contractor friends that I know are using it, Because it’s damn good!!!! According to my General Contractor friends that I’ve known for years, they say they never have any problems with. Guys you done ✅ better than Good going with GRACE !!! Ok you know the routine....What do I always say ? PROGRESS 👍🏼😁👍🏼

That's a wonderful improvement on the roof. One more step off the list. Mel when you kept repeating Gary list I was saying it also. I'm 69 and had a stroke 2 years ago. My home therapist would make 4 words for me to call back to her after I finished a couple more task. Then wham bam thank you mame what was the 4 words in order did I give you. I thought of rhymes of the 4 words. You did wonderful. You guys work so well together. Keep warm blessings

Hi 👋 just noticed the attic is not vented yet ... the cabin will stay hot till there is a place for the heat to escape... Great Build, holding heat may be a good thing the next couple months...😊

My grandparents lived very near LaGuardia Airport in Queens, NY. Planes flew so low over the house that we did wave! Another great job on the roof!

No planes do not have horns. It does have a stall warning horn in cockpit for emergency situations to alert pilot.

If you want to get the shield to stick, I saw a roofer with a heat gun and ran the heat along the edging. He said not to get to close but you can test it to see how sticky it is and press it down. Because before you get the roof on it the wind may pick up the edge of the shield and roll it off.

These roofing companies out there should have you guys be trainers so they inturn can do their own roofing jobs with as much finess and quality that you put into your own build. To say it looks great is an understatement. I will however say a big ""WOW""!! Gary, your attention to detail should be rewarded. The alledged OCD is really a benifit to all you do while constructing your future home. You should be commended for never letting the quality of what you do slip in any way. Course it does help alot to have Mel be right there by your side she is such a trouper and a great supporter. Nothing more I can say except.... Love you guys!!! Me southern AZ.

That was a Lockheed C-130, likely from Little Rock Air Force Base flying a training mission. We're in White County, and they fly over us quite frequently. And they do not have horns. 😉

Commercial planes don't have horns BUT one person on a experimental aircraft(you can do almost anything on a aircraft like that) Trent Palmer did put a car horn on his Kitfox Aircraft.

Mel, no horns on aircraft, if it is new enough and fast enough, they just hit afterburner. The first time on the flight deck of our carrier, when one of the jets hit afterburner for the catapult shot I about jumped out of my skin. lol. ❤❤

Happy 2024 and sorry I have missed your lives but sorry for the bad news but today I woke up to snow and 3 was the high and the low tonight is -23 and the high tomorrow is -23 and the low is -27 so winter is here now and its that time of the year when really cold for week or 2 and then we are good again

When I watched them do my roof , they rolled it out from one side to the other no seems/overlay ....... but yea I wanted my whole roof done with that membrane, so far 7 yrs and no problems

Because if you blow it it’s gonna sound off over the town 25 miles behind ya. 😂👍🏼 But No they have radios to radio ahead & say hey you’re in our radar & we’re coming up on you fast so dive down & get ur plane or helicopter 🚁 the Heck outta the way ! 😂🤣
