Awesome!! It's always a joy to watch a well trained dog performing. It reminds me that it IS possible to get that good, even if it takes me years and years.
@Yarden Greenchild animals have always been a joy and a pleasure to me, but I think (without presumption, I hope) that dogs are a direct blessing from God, with the number of stories I've heard of them helping people like you and me.
I have a 11 mos old male GS...the protection your dog showed in this video made me tear up. THAT WAS beautifully fantastic loyalty and the reason I will always have a GS.
Noticed no command needed for the young lady's defense. I'm training our Rottweiler similar, who knows maybe even shutzhund some day. 16 months and willing! Enjoyed the demo.
Having read your post I just had to comment. GbR I have trained protection dogs since 1974. They are exactly as shown in the videos. Yes I cry like a baby when I am forced to put them to sleep. I mean cry like a baby. Afterward I play Todd Rundgren's Healer 1, 2, and 3. Some how that helps a bit. Currently I have two GSD's and an Akita. I dread the day. Best wishes to you.
@@jayabacromby675 .... I had a black GS named Ringo (AKC ) The greatest dog in the world , to me. He was so smart it was like he knew what I was saying to him. He wouldn't let a bird land in our property . He stayed by my sized no matter where I went , when I got up or even moved to get up he got up. I tired to brake him from that but I never could. He's gone now, buried here, on his land . Sometimes I think he is still protecting it. I think of him everyday then the tears start. I can't have another dog because I may lose Ringo's in the new dog, it would be like I betrayed him, I love you buddy ! I dread the day for you my friend.
@@goodboyringo9716 Thank you so very much for your kind words. GSD's are the consummate dogs They truly do it all. Intuitive thinking is exactly right. While every dog is different in some way, they are all the same in their traits. I have to say that the German's knew what they were doing when they created that breed. I too think of my dogs every day, and that's going back many years. Of course I have pictures around the house of them all, and it is hard not to feel as I have lost a good friend in their passing. Ringo they just don't live as long as we would wish. I have said many times that nature's greatest gift to humankind are dogs. However it is a two pronged sword. The sadness created when they pass is sometimes unbearable. I have found that getting another one of the same breed is a tribute to the one's who have passed. Please reconsider getting another one. Ringo would understand your love for him, and of the breed, and approve. He would see that you loved him so much you can not be without the love, affection, and loyalty he gave. He still wants you to be happy. I have to tell you this because it brings back fond memories. Years ago one of my dogs, Pleep, would cut a silent one, and clear the room. He would look up as if to say "where is everybody going, I didn't think it was so bad". It's those memories that make it worth while to get another GSD. The family still laughs about that. I always keep three dogs. A yearling an adult, and an elder. The youngest learns from the other two. It's sweet to see the elders help train the young. As if they look at them, and say "what do you think you are doing, get back here, and get you're mind right". I train for obedience, protection, and tracking. I have many funny stories of people who thought I was full of it when I mention what they do. Trust me when I say they are believers now. Including tracking. No one escapes from their noses. There is a reason it took 42 Lassies to make that TV show. It only took one Rin Tin Tin to make that show. Which I have a paw printed signature portrait by his great great great grand son. I could like yourself, go on and on about my dogs, but it is time for walkies. Walking three dogs through the neighbor hood is something many people look forward to seeing. The kids always come out to pet them. They like the small demonstration, and the dogs like too. There is that intuitiveness coming out. Damn show off's. You be well GbR, and once again consider showing your beloved Ringo that you can't live without everything he gave you, by getting another one. The very best to you. J.A.
@@jayabacromby675 .... Thank you so much for your encouragement and your writing. I will take your thoughts into consideration as you may be right . I'm thinking I'll see Ringo once again , won't I be so happy when I do ? God Bless you and dogs. Ringo !
@@goodboyringo9716 You are most welcome. I feel the same way as you. I will see my boys, and girls again. Yes, you both will be so happy. Ringo I am right about getting another dog. Try two if you can keep them. A couple of years apart. It helps when the dark time comes. It is a ball along the way. Two of the same breed that are alike, yet so different. Really brother get another one, Ringo won't mind. If I may, look into the books by the Monks of New Skete. They have 5-6 books on raising, and training GSD's I have two of them, which I lend out to no one. They are close to the bible on the subject. By the way, currently my three dogs are all male. People often ask me which one is the alpha dog. My reply is always, none, I am the alpha dog. Although some times the Akita my object to that. I wanted to mention before that my grand daughters 8, and 11 have had a bit of, I'll call it lightweight bulling by some the the neighborhood kids. They know how to handle the dogs. So I lent them two for walks in their neighborhood. I kept the Akita at home. He is 117 pounds, and just too strong for children. The dogs don't understand English. They are trained in German, so as to not have a bad guy try to command them. Most police forces would use German. Now they tend to use Hungarian. What bad guy speaks Hungarian? Also they refuse any kind of treat from anyone other than the handler. Food refusal is a must. It's really cool to see the dog turn it's head when offered a beef jerky. After hearing "those dogs don't mean "%^&". Well, after a few demonstrations the bullies in the neighborhood are a problem no more. A well trained dog is an asset, an untrained dog is a hassle. If you wish you can contact me here any time for a bit of advice while training. However the monks know their stuff, and most problems, and don't we both know there will be problems, can be read through, and solved. I had one male long ago that I named Rep, because I needed a reminder that repetition is what it takes. He turned out to be my best tracker. As a reminder, you get what you pay for in a well bread dog. Good luck. Be well Ringo.
Yes they are Tamora. Another is the Standard Poodle. Don't think they can't protect. They are wickedly smart, and fast. They have teeth also. Cost less to feed too.
When we go camping ours goes to work watching any and everything .set out side the ten or camper .barks only as a warning. One time .if you don't stop and call out he will if need be take you out .my friend ran up one night and she had been drinking. He set her on her ass a sobered her up fast . but did not hurt her one bit
i was so tired of our lilly biting us all the time and then i used a few tips i learned from the MyDogTraining7.blogspot.com -- videos. it was like night and day; worked so well
Belgian Malinois and Belgian Shepherds have been around a long time. Malinois particularly has German Shepherd bred into them. Working line German Shepherds are just as good as Malinois's. Only difference is that the Malinois is much lighter and leaner and therefore Malinois is not only more flexible, but they are cheaper to maintain at the vet and cheaper to feed. Hence, why there are being used widely. The German Shepherd is still used everywhere, in military, police, and home protection around the world. In fact in home protection they are preferred because you need an animal that can live with the family and protect the family. Belgian Malinois are currently being bred to be very "drivey" which has consequences on their character. Most people would not enjoy handling a Malinois because they are like Shepherds on crack. I've had both
They r so smart just positive reinforcement my shepard does just about the same thing and has only been trained by me the hardest thing by far is their prey drive as long as u give them something to do its really not that hard
Thank you so much for your very clear videos. I've a 11 months old female malinois, I would like to teach her to keep my backpack outside and bark to alert me if someone tries to take it ...while I'm shopping for example. Could you tell me the steps how to teach him . The subject of an upcoming video? ;-)
It is a good age to train your Mali the basic obedience commands. I have one here and she is almost 3 yrs old. She is not trained like her dog on this video, but well trained the basic obedience commands. My Mali is not as tough as this one on the video. She just loves to cuddle and has a soft character. But she is a very good guard dog.
Fully trained, as police quality, the type you can bring home to your family everyday? About 30-40K. If you want tracking ability add 10-15K. Which does not include constant skills maintenance.
Wow, worth its weight in gold, but it makes me sad to think we may outlive their beautiful lives. This is eleven years old. Hope that fur baby is still around.
Ho avuto x 17 anni una meraviglia del genere veramente indimenticabile il mio Giacomo e sono certa che continua a vegliare su di me. Un bacio al mio angelo a 4 zampe
How old is the dog? I wouldnt beable to take my dog of leash.. she 2yrs... when someone walk bye she needs to know if they are ok or not should I say if they are good or evil.. nice work@@
What's so special about this? This lady sounds like any other Woman talking to their husband. Sit, lay down, stand, No. walk, Eat. nothing I haven't heard before. It's called a dictatorship! but with all joking aside. these Malinois dogs are very smart and good guard dogs. amazing dogs. good job.
