@@huntermorgan98 so dream theater isn't talented? They would have a crowd all the way to the back of this festival, their music is not appealing to a larger audience that's why, I gots nothing to do with talent it's a matter of if the people actually like it or not.
also maybe need to get the hard stuff out of the way first... before the voice is fried. That's what i'd do with tough material. Also those are like their hits. But he is definitely a great vocalist no argue there.
Yeah. Some are never as good live as in studio, but that guy is so good live. Devin Townsend is also an amazingly good singer live. I saw him as one of the opening acts for Avatar.
No its not lol. We live in an age where performers cant do shit like that without it going viral the next day. Niggas just love saying shit like this to accentuate how much they love someone they love.
Rody may be somewhat inconsistent in vocal performance, especially when comparing it to the record, but it's still super enjoyable and I love his voice. Also the notes he can hit overshadow the notes he can't, for sure.
Protest The Hero are awesome band and musicians. They are very progressive in nature and make creative music. I hope their next album will be masterpiece.
@@Illiyinmusic I'd imagine it's hard to strike a balance between warming up and wearing yourself out. If you've followed PTH at all recently, you'd of heard that Rody is having vocal stamina problems. With how hard he pushes himself to hit some of those soaring highs it's understandable he'd want to do the best he can to preserve his voice :P. Now, if that comes at the expense of your performance early on, I can see a reason to not be satisfied. At least he worked it out and turned it into an amazing performance!
@@aunderiskerensky2304 I've got tickets for Erra in March and the lineup is just as good. Silent Planet, Invent/Animate, and Sentinels. I think the most stacked bill I've seen was BMTH with The Devil Wears Prada, Architects, and Parkway Drive in support. I've been pretty lucky with tour lineups haha
Jorge VP I'm a little sad he doesn't like screaming as much as he used to. Some of those older songs with the highs were really weak, but that singing more than made up for it.
He always had a great singing voice. His screams have gone to shit though. But if his screams sucking is what it means so he keeps that great singing voice then I'm down.
Am I the only one that noticed on Nautical, Choadie said "I'll stay home and masterbate" instead of "Of statehood and mastery"? I almost spat my drink out...
Amazing vocalist and band. Opening tracks were a bit rough, Rody was all over the shop and clearly not warmed up enough but was pretty incredible for the rest of the set. He's gotta ditch those ridiculous high pitch cartoon screams, his growls on the other hand were sounding the best I've heard them here.
it's so strange how divided opinions are on Rody's voice! As a singer myself i can say... he's definitely seen better days, but his singing is still quite good. As for screaming well if a ratio of singing to screaming is like 90%-sing 10%-scream obviously one is going to suffer. But most singers drift away from heavy vocals over time... it's just not good for you no matter what you do... many extreme vocal coaches claim it can be done safely is bullshit over long period of time it will fuck your voice up! Especially if you have a wide vocal range to cover. So at some point it just won't sound as good as on recording or the use of it has to decrease... Other things to consider ... festival sound in general sucks like 99% of the time... maybe because it's open air ... But just rarely sounds good. On a side note is Rody into bodybuilding now ... kind of funny him checking out guys form in the crowd...
Yeah nah that isn't a good take when you consider the bands that have been doing raspy, harsh, or screaming vocals for decades. There's technique - You have to consider that the mechanisms that cause screaming are used in some dialects and languages, ergo that theory is immediately dead.
man I never bothered giving this band a listen, but it's actually not too far off from the first 80s Progressive Thrash bands like Watchtower and Toxik, especially with these vocals
What people fail to realize is that's just Bruce Dickinsons left testicle that grew into a human in a lab to make a pact with a lesser deity to make this man a legend.
that intro music tho. Saw them in Melbourne, they played the X Files theme for the intro and Rody was wearing an X files shirt, best show ever. As always Melb went. OFF. the pit was intense and I was in the heart of it for the whole damn show. Best band in existence.
Someone else should do the screaming parts and Rody should do clean singing only. Sounds like he's struggling with the screams and honestly they sound pretty bad too. His singing is fucking epic though!
Everyone in this band is ridiculously good. The vocalist’s range is ridiculous. But I’ve always thought wearing shorts on stage looks weird - especially cargo shorts 😂
Rody's high notes sound a little off in this mix, especially the two first songs, but overall a pretty great show. Nothing beats seeing them live though in a small venue.
