1. Landlord investor who buys philly rowhomes and does all his own work from roofing to finish carpentry 2. I’m currently running Occidental leather fat lip adjust to fit since I do a lot of different stuff and I like big wide open pouches. Love the big open front left side you’ve got going on. I put way more stuff in there than the back side loops and always feel there’s not enough space One thing that I definitely need is more tiny slots for stuff like oscillating saw blades, ect. (Left side) Yes bit index on weak side. One thing that is HUGE you could do that no one is doing, and would really separate you from the competition that I’m always trying to mcgyver with my set ups Ways to easily hang and deploy large power tools from the mid back. If I hang certain things on my hips it gets annoying after about 30 seconds, where if it’s on my back I will forget it’s there and start looking for it. For a while I was using a custom MOLLE style vest with the webbing all around, and I would just throw stuff on the back with the belt clips, it was great. Also with the fastener pouches, one of the reasons I run Occidental is I can just take the plastic cups out of organizers (ridgid/packout ect) and throw them in the pouches, and then put them back in the organizers. It saves time and I don’t end up with a junk drawer. Also look into Fastcaps “TLC” cam lock system. I always run my drills/impacts with 6” extensions or drive guides, and once they fall out of my belt and hit the ground they’re usually done. I haven’t found a better system for securing power tools to my body yet, but they take a while to get used to something similar to that with a wider top that’s easier to get into isn’t on the market yet.

Will look into the fast cap system today. I already play around with kydex(knife sheaths, and holster plastic). Brainstorming ideas with that all the time.. Mid back- a hybrid vest/suspender setup is something that I think would be pretty cool to develop over time. Hanging things on a cheapo tac vest was one of the things I was doing a few years ago, when I first really started thinking about the custom belt thing that's now finally going on. Six or so inches up from belt height is a pretty boss way to run any of my nail guns. Still able to frab at the handle comfortably...

Hi I’m a window door installer I also do interior finishing and also specialize in exterior finishing from steel siding,snap lock roofing, vinyl siding and much more. I’ve been in the trades for about 11 years and I carry many different tools from day to day. I like to carry most of my tools on my right hand side I use a Martinez pouch with my bits closest to my hip then snips in my main pouch and other tools depending on what I’m doing,two pencils a olfa knife and tough build scraper/knife and a tape measure on the outer pouch it also has a hammer/flat bar sheath that i use for mallet and paint scraper/bar. On my left I carry all of my fasteners I use atlas 46 nail and screw pouch kit which I really like other then the outside pouch which I would like split in two, I carry my speed squares in this pouch with my biggest one by my hip and my micro square in between the two pouches sometimes I keep a note pad in it. With my hammer in the centre of my back with nail puller beside it. I also use atlas 46 suspenders. I really like atlas 46 stuff I’ve been using it for almost 3 years. I hope this helps I really like that you asking your viewers/customers their opinion. 👍🏼

Thanks for the comment, dude. Crowd sourcing has been very helpful. I'll have to look into your left side pouches. Been a while since I've been on their site. Lately, I have been going back and forth with some smaller designs, much like the martinez pouch. I'm more of an interior guy, and as it's all pretty much relative, i still really like when the exterior guys chime in. It's the perspectives I feel I need most. It's all starting to really come together lately. Any input in the future that you want to share is really appreciated. Happy holidays, by the way. What belt? Atlas/martinez?

First off.... I just subscribed because I've been watching these bags transform. I'm a custom home builder that specializes in pole barns, post frame, stick frame, barndominiums, and I do the metal siding, trim, and roofing. I have the Diamondback bags, Badger bags, as well as the atlas 46 bags. It's almost as if I need a bag for whatever trade or process that I'm doing on the build that we are working on. By far, the most comfortable bags are the Badger bags, which seems to be what yours remind me of. Just keep in mind.... you don't have to have a slot for everything. There is always attachments that you can design later.

Thank you. For real. You are a prime example of the subscriber I want around here. I started out with jam packing things simply because it's going to help me learn faster. Recently started being able to fine tune the layouts per se. I'm focusing on some much smaller tool side stuff at the moment. Cut out a few parts for a 7" wide pouch yesterday... The more technical stuff is more so a personal preference(interior remodels. light frame, light plumbing, through paint), but certainly doesn't need to be involved in any finished framer set. Things will be coming together with all this soon. Future clip-on/ modular stuff is starting to take shape now as well. Any and all input is legit appreciated. Once again, thanks for hopping aboard.

@clovisprojectdiy I don't know if you've seen the awesome framers episode where Tim explains his awesome framers set up from Badger tool bags? They raised and shortened the hammer sleeve and also raised the flat bar sleeve. That's the Badger bags that I have. You have to specify that you want the awesome framers set up when ordering the bags. A must-see RU-vid video from awesome framers when it comes to tool bags.

I've seen it. He's got a mullet wig and is doing the running man.... hammer sleeve I'm working with at the moment is 11" long. Standard for badger is 12", and DB is about 13.5. I like checking his channel out from time to time. He's LEGIT and pretty funny at the same time.

@clovisprojectdiy I have the Atlas 46 hammer sleeve, which I think is pretty legit. I didn't fall for the Martinez 6" belt, though. In really glad I didn't get it after seeing your video on it. I'm kind of disappointed in the Diamondback 6" belt because for us skinny guys, it just pulls my pants down. Total bummer. I switched to the 4" belt.

I work in Electrical, currently running Diamondback products with those being the Niko and Mitre pouch. Always liked their products, just find them not the most well thought out or maybe that's also due to my setup style. For electrical on my dominant side on my left i don't like having big open pockets like the Niko pouch has, I like a dedicated spot or slot for each of my tools. Rambling more about the Niko pouch the pull tab to bring the pouch closer us a good idea but crap execution as it just covers a tool slot. For my non dominant side i like having the tape up high like many Diamondback products and the rafter square slot too they have. More dedicated tool slots within a larger main pouch is always a win and having fastener pockets that you don't have to fumble around trying to get those last screws would be ideal especially when wearing gloves. Again comparing to diamondback as I run it, i do find with my mitre pouch bits and bobs get lost in the main pocket part as theres a small divider next to rafter square and requires more fumbling around to find things.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
It's always a toughy with that. That's pretty much why I go with bigger setups. I'm able to spread out a bit. I feel as though our tool belt gripes are pretty much 1 in the same. Your issues are most likely solved by a fastener side that has a bit more room, both in the main tool pocket and a bit more open fastener pouches. Basically, what I aim to accomplish as a baseline, but I'll just need to hone in a bit for specialty tools... do you use the outside screwdriver slots on the niko alot, or are you mostly within the walls of the pouch itself.
@BenjaminsAxolotls
@BenjaminsAxolotls Год назад
@@clovisprojectdiy It’s also a little challenging to have a defined non dominant setup, as yes sometimes It would be nice for more slots in the main pocket of the pouch but majority of the time I’m only carrying a handful of no2 square drive screws for flush boxes and bits here and there. So don’t need to load up the non dominant side so the Eagle pouch (I wrote wrong in my original comment) serves me well for what I need and I flip flop between residential and commercial so don’t like too bulky of a setup. Yes definitely use the outside screwdriver slots on the niko and that’s a big win in my opinion as it flows and is easier to pick a particular screwdriver out of the pouch with muscle memory than having them within the pouch and closer to my body. The hammer loop on the back of the niko pouch is also useless and a waste of space. Also a tape chain or tape clip system like Veto is much better than diamondbacks as especially with gloves it’s a pain to use one handed. Happy to answer anything else dude
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Was just able to check out pics of the niko. I used to have that same loop up top on my miter pouch. Cut it off a while back... At first glance, I should have no issues coming up with a screw driver set of doodads around an outside... thanks for your input
@Eger118877
@Eger118877 Год назад
@Clovis I personally prefer keeping my tape on a clip on my left/fastener side vs putting it in a pouch. I realize it's all personal preference. I just wanted to give you some input that you've asked for. I wish my Occidental had a metal/Kydex clip on the side of my fastener bag so I didn't have to carry the Kydex tape measure clip. I always feel like I'm fumbling around when taking out or putting back my tape measure from a pouch.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
There are times when I play around with clip on the belt(sometimes I shed the right side bag). Definitely going to be including things like that in later designs if it all goes that far. For now I need to make the one that has "everything" and just test out some theory... thanks for chiming in. You are not the 1st to mention clips, which means to me it's worth really trying out....

Bro I'm loving these I'm excited to see these come together and I'd love to get one rom you to try it out in my trade once you are ready to make them the only thing I'd change is having the many pocket open with no dividers just as I use a lot of large fasteners

@Clovis Project DIY yeah so I have tools on my right and on my left is a large open pouch and two small pouches but I'd like to have the square and bit index as well on my left side
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
@A.K.A Tiny understood. Since I'm lefty for so much, I'm making this one so I can more so prove the theory. The main pouch section will be more so a strong side(right) kind of a thing for all you "normies," and the decending outer pouches are more so for a fastener (left) side. You seem to be interested in a straight-up traditional setup. After I make this one and figure out the bugs so to say, I can then move forward with more traditional setups. Like I said it will take a bit, but since I like having you around so much, and I really do like setting up "my" younger guys right, I will definitely keep you in mind when I start doing something past the trial and error phase. I will be expecting a HONEST review....

I don’t think you need all those compartments for the tools on your left side. Unless somebody’s trying to just use one bag. I know you were talking about that as well and maybe come out with a trimmer set that doesn’t hang down 13”. I’m a trim guy and would love a set like the occidental nylon trimmer set with better pockets on the tool side. A knife and pencil holders on the end where there metal hammer loop is. Veto is coming out with bags supposedly March 20 that are very similar to those occidental trimmer bags. I saw a picture of them on there website and i think I’m gonna buy the set. But with the badger belt. You said those were the most comfortable. Thanks again, great job.
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
I'm a lefty for a pencil and most fine motor skill tools. I use a strong side pouch on my left. Tape, squares, and bigger tools still live on the right along with hammer. This will be more so tailored to fit my personal needs. What you are looking at is a strong side main pouch with a fastener setup around it... If I can make my setup, I can then work my way "down" to what's considered normal. I'll have to check out the veto setups. I'm sure they're sturdy as hell. And yeah, for REAL on the badger belt(nobody's paying me), it's awesome.

Instead of a tool belt look at making a tool vest and have some of the more used tools attached to your chest and then you could make the pouches smaller
@clovisprojectdiy
@clovisprojectdiy Год назад
Lol! I have been avoiding reviewing my 701 vest for this reason. No pun intended, I will be playing all that pretty close to the chest... 1st step is creating a set of pouches that nobody can reasonably claim that I'm copying their setup... Right now it is all about getting the just right pocket sizes, and tool sleeve/pocket confgurations. I wear a vest under certain conditions. mainly outside in the cold. I'm hoping that by the end of this calendar year, I will have an option that is all worked out. Thanks for your comment. For real.
