Awesome video! I made my choice several months ago when I got the Proverxl 4030 back in November. I ordered the 6060 kit, but I haven't upgraded it yet. I am surprised that they aren't planning on expanding the newer machine, but it makes me happy with the choice I made. I like having the option to upgrade later should I choose to. Maybe if the work and money grow and I need a 2nd cnc to keep up, I'll get one of the new model

So James I have to say that having just fully completed my 6060 with all your upgrades plus one of my own ( a mortising jig that I can attach to the face of the 6060) and doing a few test cuts with your carveco series I am quite happy with the 6060. I look forward to unlocking the full potential of my machine. I am currently battling an issue in carveco with a project. The vector doctor usage is baffling me and I hope you cover this in the carveco series.
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
I will be covering that. Vector Doctor is really good but also a pain at the same time. It detects things that some other programs would ignore (which is both good and bad)

Curious as to why the modified covers on the xy axis rails for the 6060. My 3018 Pro collects a lot of milling dust on the rails, especially while using MDF. Could that be the reason?

Hey James how are you? I have been watching all your videos on youtube and I look forward every time for your next one. In great detail your provide information that is greatly useful for different matters. I thing that I might need your help for my little hiccup. I got , not too long ago, the Genmitsou 6050 pro.Great mashine with a lot of power and I am very happy for that. I am wondering though if I could have a jig mounted for box joind cutting.It seams a little hard because of the moving part underneath for the gentry.Please tell me what you think. Thanks.

Thank you. Can be frustrating but the truth is the desktop CNC and laser world is evolving so fast that there are new machines coming out every 3-6 months. And you have a cutting area nearly double the size of this machine so thats at least a plus point for you

Hey guys, I have a PROVerXL 4030 and I’m running UGS as my G-code sender. I’m keep getting an error code of “(Alarm 1) hard limit has been triggered.” But it happens when in the middle of a project when my spindle isn’t anywhere needs any of the limit switches. Anyone have experiences with this?

Hi James, great content! Just a quick question, looking to get something about this size mainly for wood, but with occasional brass/alu work. I've seen other videos where the surface finish on soft metals is not as great on some machines, I'm guessing this may be speeds and feeds and rigidity. (fairly new to CNC) What's the best finish you've achieved so far on these machines? Do you have any examples? I don't think you have one, but how do you think these compare to the Stepcraft machines? Any thoughts?
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
Metal is not exactly an area I have a lot of experience in. I have made a few things but I would not claim to have nailed it. Essentially the more ridged the machine, the more you have tuned it, the better result you will get regardless of power. I have not tested a Stepcraft but they are very highly rated

Great video! I have a very simple question though, Is it common that a spoil board is held down with just painters tape and super glue? I ask because the extension kit for the Fox Alien Masuter Pro just uses t track for clamping mechanisms, which means I think I could just use strips of MDF as my spoil board. From there I should be able to just use the same leveling process. Am I missing something?
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns 10 месяцев назад
Different people deal with spoilboards in different ways. But the general 3 rules are your spoilboard should be no bigger than your work area (otherwise it can't be surfaced correctly), it should be higher than your bed (otherwise you create a pocket when surfacing), and should replaceable.

one thing to take into consideration is that you will struggle to get rid of the smaller rails once you upgrade. especially with others doing the same. the 6050 will be easier to sell at a later date holding value for longer than it's predecessor - because on the next upgrade release from Sainsmart - the 6060 will "old tech"

Hi James, I purchased a Sainsmart 4040 pro machine. Using the supplied spindle I am unable to cut anything without bit chatter. I am not new to CNC machining but in my working life I had a 5'x8' machine with a 15 HP spindle so these small machines are new. I have ordered the 65MM bracket for the 4040 my problem now is should I go to the Makita router or buy a 500 watt spindle that has the collet as part of the motor shaft rather than being pressed on. I have purchased several er11 collets. Also I am unable to find out what the collet size is on the Makita router is. Do you happen to know? I am cutting 1/4" hardwood various species with every bit configuration and size you can imagine with feed speeds as low as 2 IPM and spindle speeds from 8400 to 15000. I have tried as many as 10 passes and as few as 3 always getting chatter and a ruined piece. Any advice you could give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim, it sounds like you already genuinely know what your on about do I'm not sure what extra advice I can provide. What bit are you using? I saw someone post a video the other day of having some play in the vertical movement, do you have anything like that?

@@JamesDeanDesigns Thanks for getting back to me so quickly James. I have use a 1/8" two flute both up and down cut. Also a 3/16" three flute up cut a 3/16" single flute up cut and 1/4" two flute both up and down cut. I have had the best luck with the 3/16 single up cut bit. I also have a 3MM single flute up cut bit with a CEL of only 8MM but haven't tried it yet. I don't have vertical movement. Do you know what the collet size is for the Makita router? Is it an er16 or er 20 size or something else? Thanks for thee help.

@JamesDeanDesigns

You need to install the driver file first. This then allows the PC to tall to the CNC machine. You can then open your control software like Candle or UGS to run the machine. This video may help ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6V9tmybmdnY.html

I've purchased the 4030 cause the floor is removable... so cuttingsize is technically unlimited. maybe l'm even installing a plasmacutter to it 😅.. I expext to use it 70% for Aluminium milling or maybe plasma cutting 🙄
@zoltanbereczki8067
@zoltanbereczki8067 Год назад
Yes it is but the X axis goes under the spoilboard and you dont want to get gunk onto it. Did you try it anyways? With what result?
@zoltanbereczki8067
@zoltanbereczki8067 Год назад
I think it is not a coincidence they strenghtened the Z axis and the frame on the 6050...the 4030/6060's Z axis has a decent wobble, or the axis "nods" back and forth even with lighter spindles and the wobbling increases with heavier routers like Makita. Also the base of the 6050 is very rigid comparing to the less sturdy 4030/6060...extensions always make the frame more unstable. This is what James circumscribed diplomatically, saying "6050 is more precise". The only pro for 4030/6060 is its size... you gain size but lose precision that doesn't pay off in my opinion when you look at you big but sketchy workpiece after carving.
