Excellent video James! I am looking forward to the comparison video with the 4030... For the 6050, I wonder what wattage laser it will handle. I heard somewhere that the 4030 controller box could only handle a 5 watt laser unaided... If you want to use a 10 watt you would need to use an external power supply for the laser.. What do you think the 6050 could handle? Hopefully at least a 10 watt laser... As big as the new controller box is, it should be able to run a nuclear power plant!!

Thanks for another great video! How did you attach the spoilboard strips to the bed sections? Adhesive or screws from the lower side? I bought a Sainsmart 3018 Pro but ended up sending it back after a couple of weeks. The kit was beautiful, and it ran very well right out of the box. It just wasn't going to do the job for me as I want more power and precision. I'll be ordering a 6050 tonight!

The initial piece of MDF on this are screwed from underneath. If you want to add additional spoilboard slats then I would probably use blue tape and CA glue or strong double sided tape

Hello, I'm new to cnc and soon to be retired so I'll have time to research and learn the programs. I'm wondering if this machine, with a router, is strong enough to make the custom wood police badges that I see online? They are normally 1"-1 1/2" thick and have a lot of detail/various dimensions. Appreciate any input this community, or Mr. Dean, can provide. Thanks

After having the Sainsmart 3018 Pro for half a year, I have just received my PROVerXL 6050 Plus and looking forward to assembly and first time use. Hi James Nice review. In your opinion would this be to advanced for a person new to cnc. Thinking of getting a cnc machine but I don't fancy spending that much on my first machine. So I'm torn between fox ailien 4040 and gemitsu 4030 I want one around that size and wondering from a beginner pont of which would you recommend for me to get. Space is not a issue as I have enough in my shed for it. Thanks
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
From my experience, the 4030 was generally easier from a beginners point of view. I've never had any issues with lead screws but have had some with belts. I think issues with belts are a little harder to diagnose

@robertmunafo5039 Год назад
Curious what you think about this CNC vs. the Foxalien Vasto CNC? The Foxalien has a 400W spindle and ball screws, its now on sale for $1900 so that brings it close to the cost of this one. But this one has larger stepper motors and seems like a better bed design with less flex. For my use I'm looking to do mostly soft metal work. Love your content!

Hi James! How does this compare to a FA Vasto CNC in your opinion when it comes to sturdiness, accuracy and overall build quality?
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
Build quality and accuracy I would say are on par. Sturdiness of the frame I would say is in favour of the Vasto, sturdiness of the bed in favour of the ProverXL. Price and size is in favour of the ProverXL as well but hardware probably in favour of the Vasto because the ballscrews so it's a real trade off depending on what's important to you

Hi James, how's that for timing....I bought one after see your build video and had just finished the build and come inside to see your review appear....Could I ask if you had any rough running noises, mine is rough on the X axis but only when moving from left to right.Not sure if the drag chain is put it under pressure, seems quite tight. I also had a spare aluminium bracket supplied that wasn't listed in the manual, think it would fit the Z axis perhaps for the laser. Great review 👏
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
I sprayed the lead screw with dry lubricant and that helped the noise on the X axis. I think the metal shield actually makes the noise sound worse as well. I can't remember having a spare bracket but I'll check when I am next in the work shop
@ssgjwarren9
@ssgjwarren9 Год назад
I had the same noise and it was driving me nuts. I found the problem and need to let Sainsmart know they need better quality control. The lead screw is actually to long. The extra length is being smashed between the stepper motor shaft and lead screw causing too much pre load on the bearings. I removed 3 mm off of all three lead screws and it is quiet now.

Lastly, I only have a 110 set up in my garage here in the US, does that affect the power output of any of these devices?

@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
ProverXL 6050 has size, stronger bed and stronger motors but the Vasto has ball screws and is $200 more so it really is difficult. Unless you do plan to machine metal regularly, I would probably go with the ProverXL 6050... I think but not 100% sure 😆

Looks nice but LONGMILL, made in CANADA, has a CNC that is 48x30 inch for the same price but without the router. They also have a 30x30 for $1349. Like your review though. I have the Genmitsu PROVerXL 4030 and extended it to the 6060. I like it but if I knew about the LONGMILL b4 I might have gotten it seeing it had a bigger work area.
@JamesDeanDesigns
@JamesDeanDesigns Год назад
Thanks. If size is what your after then yes, but the Longmill machines are weaker overall. They use smaller stepper motors than the ProverXL you ready have, the frame and build is also weaker so whilst size may be bigger, the performance of the machine will be less and not really an upgrade in my opinion from what you already have
@DavZell
@DavZell Год назад
I just looked at the Longmill after seeing your comment. They really don't look comparable. The structure looks much less substantial, there is no work surface, and the NEMA motors (which aren't even identified, which I find odd and a little worrisome that might source the cheapest parts at the time) are much smaller. Presumably the controller and drivers are only sized for that weaker setup, also. I'd warn people off making a direct comparison between these two unless they were educated enough to understand the negative trade-offs. I have no affiliation or interest in either brand; I'm just a CNC video junky.

It's a great machine but I did a follow up video comparing this and the original ProverXL 6060. Whilst this is more powerful machine, I need to do a few jobs a year that are larger than the work area of the 6050 so ultimately I have kept the original machine but that was only because of that one specific reason. On nearly every other element the 6050 is better

Hi James, can you or anyone else answer me on this question please? I am buying my first cnc router and thinking of buying the PROVerXL 4030 with 6060 extension kit & hybrid table. Would it be better for me to spend more and buy the Genmitsu PROVerXL 6050 Plus then buying the 4030 with upgrade? Is the money difference, build quality and features worth it to spend more, which is $ 2,547.32 Canadian for the 6050 Plus, and $2,205.00 for the 4030 with 6060 upgrade and upgrade aluminum & MDF Hybrid Spoilboard Table . Thank you.
@chrisl7949
@chrisl7949 Год назад
the 6050 plus will provide more rigidity for more demanding projects. The 4030 upgraded to a 6060 will give you a little more working area with lower performance. If you need the extra size go with the 6060, if you don't need the extra size get the 6050.

I "broke" mine! My router kept "slamming" the upper limit switch into the metal tab and it kept getting bent. I "kept" bending it back into position. Then, you guessed it, the tab broke off completely. So I did the only thing I could think of, I used JB WELD to hold the broken tab in place. I don't see Genmitsu providing that individual plate as a part for purchase. Any other ideas...anybody....anybody?

It can seem like that and totally get where you're coming from, but essentially different styles of machine, different hardware. For example with wheels vs linear rails, linear rails are usually going to ways win, however they do cost more. The other thing is part of the cost with machines like this, is you're paying for the ease of it being partially prebuilt where as most Workbee style machines are full DIY kits, you can spend hours, sometimes days building them. To a beginner an Ooznest can be quite overwhelming although they are great machines
