Thinking of visiting Provincetown, Massachusetts during the pandemic? This PSA style video was created to give tourists a realistic expectation of how things have changed.
The restaurants that are open are operating with a fraction of their normal staff.
Entertainment options are limited.
Face-masks are required on Commercial Street.
These are just some of the changes tourists should expect when visiting Ptown this summer.
This video is not sponsored and was created to help set a realistic expectation.

David, "Thank you" for this . . . it was extremely informative. My annual summer trek to P-town has been put "on hold" for the time being . . . still hoping to make a visit in the early fall. Love your videos!

Very Nicely Done and Extremely Informative. I haven't been to town in probably 15-18 years and I recognize all my old Haunts. WOW, sure has changed. Bubula 's used to be the Seaview, Fanizzi's used to be Pucci's, ( Pucci had the best Margaritas, Nachos and Wings,) Oh well... Time and Change marches on... Great work and hope your knee is better.

Thank you for this, David, I wish I could go. I'm out here living in Las Vegas, and it's so insanely Hot, (it's July 2020) the water there looks so inviting. I haven't been to Provincetown since the late eighties, how I wish I could go.

Thank you so much for this info. We are coming September 6th for a week to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary of our honeymoon in P Town. I am wondering if anything will be open on the off season. Other commenters chiming in is greatly appreciated too. We did whale watch that trip and in those days there was not much else going on. It seems MUCH more happening these days but we are worried everyone will be on vacation themselves THAT week! Our resort requires a test result and we may have to divert to ny state to get that. UGH.

I live year-round in Provincetown, and as a townie, I appreciate this very accurate account of what life has been like here this summer. So, Bravo for that David. Spring here was dicey, visitors were not taking the mask rule seriously enough, and the town sort of dropped the ball on getting adequate signage posted. It's understandable because no one really knew what to do or expect. When summer started, we had a few ugly incidences on Commercial Street, acts of rudeness and nastiness that I think were specific to the mood of the times and the people who were arriving and something I'd not seen before. Not too many gays came at the beginning of the season, but others did and brought their sense of entitlement with them. I work on Commercial and saw many acts of proud ignorance. There were scenes involving children riding bikes with training wheels in *traffic* on Commercial Street, their clueless parents having no idea what a dangerous and ridiculous thing this was. These same people were the first to drop their masks so they could smoke and shout (at their children) and were also pushy and bullying. I was forced off a sidewalk by a couple walking abreast who would not make room for me. The energy this year was not the usual, and I hope the gays return next year to bring the wonderful vibe back to this lovely town.

David, I was in P-Town for one season and moved to Florida, I'm just like you, if I see bikes at the beach or cars parked in parking lots that means people. And the virus lives in people. Why don't they stay inside? If I go out for essential errands I'm very scared to get sick by these inconsiderate jerks, and you know it's busy here, for Spring Break last week!

Just curious why do they call it boy beach? I have only been to PTown once in my 26 years in Massachusetts. It may sounds a bit stupid but not sure what family activities are available it PTown. PTOWN is known for its flamboyant style so not sure what to do there. However I heard PTOWN is very beautiful. One of my coworkers owns a small hotel there with his husband and I have seen the pics of the sunset and sunrise at PTOWN indeed beautiful.

David, or anyone else that can answer this: I can't afford to live in Provincetown where a 1500sq ft home runs over a million dollars..but can someone recommend an area about an hour away from it where I can purchase a *normal priced* home with a few acres around it? Thanks..keep wearing your masks..and take care everyone! #StayStrong

As a year-round resident of Provincetown, I would suggest moving to Eastham or Orleans MA. Real estate prices are insane here but become more reasonable once you get out of town. Where you really see prices improve is in Hyannis. Check on Zillow or Redfin.

@@MsCalcat It's great to hear from a resident so thank you very much for your response. My husband and I will be retiring in a few years, and after living a few decades in a red, southern, homophobic state due to being in the military, we want to move to the nicest gay friendly area we can find in the US where the weather is cool, we are close to the ocean, and lots of restaurants and entertainment are near by. Provincetown looks amazing for that, and it would be great to find something quiet and rural outside of it. Will definitely check out your suggestions!

@@Nightbird. Ogunquit is a thought

@@willtee1526 Looks great..but Ogunquit's real estate prices are as outrageous as Provincetowns. A home their the same size as I have now is over a million. 🙄

Yes, I lived there, but found the same problem. Most of us lived in Truro. Even if you live in Plymouth or past the bridge to Braintree, it gets cheaper than the city on the south shore. Consider living in Boston for that money, up to a million, and take the new ferry ( was opened while I lived there!!!)
