After two postponements that were due to a deadlock between the ANC and the DA, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced his Gauteng's executive council on Wednesday evening.
The ten names comprised of seven executives from the ANC, while three positions were given to the IFP, Rise Mzansi, and the Patriotic Alliance.
The DA's Federal Chair, Hellen Zille said the party did not pull out, but the ANC went ahead unilaterally when the DA refused to be coopted with no meaningful power-sharing that reflected proportionality.

I have a question? I’m outsider looking in but have been fascinated and hooked to SA politics since the national election. I keep seeing people commenting about KZN and how the MK doesn’t have top positions in the province. Like in every video since the ANC and DA battle for Gauteng. If someone can enlighten me, the MK party would get seats but no positions or portfolios in Provincial government because they are not part of the GNU right? And wasn’t the Premier voted in because of his party affiliation with the GNU?

Yes, they also said they don't want to talk to the ANC of Ramaphosa. So that means they would have been left with IFP and DA but they were already in a moonshot pack before the election started with the DA. Which means they were left with Eff which only had 2 seats. MK and EFF makes a total of 39 seats. DA, ANC and IFP together makes 40 seats you need 41 to govern. NFP has 1 seat they chose the 3party coalition to create a winner. If they had gone with the MK the province would be stuck in a deadlock of 40 seats each. So no one played the MK, they played themselves.

We've already seen the disaster of ANC and EFF working together in the metros. The ANC has a short term gain but will suffer a longer term loss. I don't see that as being smart.
