What’s NOT sad is that someone as famous as Paris F*ck*ng Hilton has decided to endure the pain and relive the trauma that comes along with verbalizing (*and filming) your past abuse experience(s), in an effort to shed light on the abuse ranging from what’s been described above- to many other types of other more severe verbal, emotional/psychological and physical abuse. Teenagers/teens are CHILDREN! Shout out Paris Hilton for choosing to do what is no doubt painful for you in an effort to save other CHILDREN from having to suffer similar experiences to those you were faced with as a child. In doing so you are also saving them from the devastating life long effects of experiencing such childhood trauma as well.

To everyone who watches this: I'm Jen, the girl in the video. I would like to make clear that this was video one in a five-part series, and this is not the whole story at all. I was so young here and so fresh out of the program that I still had very little grasp of what happened and still beleived the things they'd trained me to beleive. I am currently working on a project to fully tell the story about kids in the "troubled teen" industry. After this video, I had explained times that I was dragged, left in Observation (isolation) for hours and days at a time, held down and forcibly shot up with without my parents knowledge, etc. I was rebellious but peaceful. I tried to run away. I never lashed out. At times I hurt myself or slept on the floor. That was my only way of protest. I was there two different times. First time around I was not treated as badly because I behaved very well. The second time I rebelled and ran away, and because I was a problem for them they did their worst. Anyone who was there with me knows that this is real. And no matter the reason ANY child gets sent away, they don't deserve to be harmed. Especially not by people claiming to help, and who make a profit off those kids. I went on to work with children and the differently abled. I am an artist, mom, and fortunately a very healthy person. Not because of PCS, but because I refused to let experiences like these sink me. It took years to do that. You will be seeing more for me on this topic! But, mainly, I just wanted to tell you all that this is not my whole story. Thank you. And Thanks for all of your support. Update 2022: I've done a TON more work on this since this comment! You can find some content on my channel (including my whole story) and reflected in the #breakingcodesilence movement (as well as my website www.youthindisorder.com !). So much has changed and its amazing to see! Thank you thank you all of you caring and speaking up!

Hi Jen, I remember you, we were roommates a few times on Unit 3. Your first time around that is. I remember when you came in, they shaved your head and made you wear those awful sweats, it was heartbreaking. I can vouch that everything you're saying it true. I'm so sorry you were sent back. I had absolutely terrifying nightmares just about every night that I had been sent back. They only stopped once I turned 18. The thought of it still gives me chills. My experience was maybe a little different than a lot of people, I made it out pretty quickly by playing their game but I can't say I came out unscathed. I'm so happy to hear you're doing well now. I would love to see part 2 and beyond of this video. -"Kaye"

I was a patient there from 1990-1991. I was there for 18 months. It was the WORST experience of my life to date!!! I was 14/15 at the time. I suggest stepping up and being the parent your son needs. My daughters are good girls who stay home and have their friends over to my house. They mind me and respect me because I parent them. Parenting is a hard job. My parents sucked at it. I was alone a lot and had too much time on my hands. YOU can change this. If you love your son, don't send him!!!!

I worked at a school for troubled youth in Jackson Hole Wyoming, very similar to the Provo Canyon school. Except we didn't abuse the children! I wanted to move back to Vivian Park in Provo Canyon so I looked into the Provo School. I spoke with former ( Inmates ) students as we former staff. Each and everyone of them spoke of abuse and hardships for the kids. Each and everyone of them told me I wouldn't be happy working there! When Paris spoke up, it was an awesome act of courage. She spoke of a great many things I was told about by both former students and former staff! I'm not here because of Paris, I'm here to show my support for this courageous young lady speaking and sharing her heartfelt truth. Namaste 🕉️, Bless the beast and the children ☮️

We all remember the "quiet room(s)." Shit goes down in Provo, and staff take extreme liberties with the students. As much abuse as I have suffered in my short life, Provo was extremely traumatic, and I still have nightmares about it. People screaming and crying constantly, those moments when they put small children in the "quiet room(s)" for hours on end for crying, all the while talking down on them, and then forcibly give them shots to MAKE them stop crying. But that was in no way the worst of it. There are things that went on in that place that I can't even describe without crying. Provo strips you of your dignity. I agree with the idea that it is a prison. They tell you that it isn't a form of punishment. But that is in no way true. Children are treated like criminals. Their crime? Asking for help.

Aiden Jackson I went there as well from 00-01 and it was horrific. I was raped by a staff member and suffered many other things. PCS’s solution to a patients insubordination or emotional outburst was usually a shot of Haladol in the ass and then being thrown in A white bricked room called OBS or observation. That or being told to sit in a chair and to stare at a wall while being neglected and ostracizing them for long periods of time while we were told initially to think about what we did wrong. Many times this was for absurd reasons. I suffered from anorexia when I first arrived and the entire 8 months I was there I had to eat double portions for every meal, while being on tray watch. They sat with me and would force me to eat and finish every morsel on my plate until I was done, otherwise I had to sit there until I could finish. I was essentially eating six full meals a day. I went from being 92 pounds to156 by the time I left. I also dealt with cutting issues, and which resulted in body checks. Which I can very much understand being monitored, but sadly had things done to me that were in no way for the betterment of my well being. I find it extremely offensive that you’re implicating THIS MANY people are lying about their encounters, just because you may have had a complete different or positive experience there. However, based on your overtly discriminative attitude and choice of words, I don’t know why I should even expect you to understand or care.

I knew someone who went to a place like that in the early 90s. I wasn't close with her - she was a friend of a friend, but this conversation always haunted me. We were hanging out after work and the topic of high school came up and I shared my really bad catholic school experience. Then, this acquaintance was like, "Let me tell you about this place in Utah..." and told us about the abuse she suffered. She would recount hearing kids screaming for help within the facilities in the middle of the night, which terrified everyone. Sometimes when she was asleep, she would be dragged out of her bed into a room beaten, stripped naked and locked in there for days with no food, water or bathroom and would never tell her the reason or if she did anything wrong. It was like the school staff would just pick at random a kid to do that with. When we asked her why she was at a place like that, she said her parents were going through problems and she was a teenager acting out. She said she didn't tell her parents about the abuse because the school admin says her parents will think she is lying and she would end up staying longer. I suppose this is how the school continued to get away with what they were doing. This conversation was back in 2006 and I found out that this lady has since passed away, but being that this is in the news now, I want to add my support to take down Provo Canyon and other schools like that as well.

Having been to both, pcs is worse than prison. In prison, there's education, counseling, and all of that, but you also get legal counsel, cigarettes, time to yourself, and you don't get the weird experimental behavior modification psc has, like making you flip a coin each time you speak to tell whether or not you are lying or tying inmates together and making one's discipline dependent on the other. You also know how long you are in for, no mystery of not getting out until you "work the program"

I was there for 7 months from Feb-Aug of 2010. Within the first month I was there, I got a haldol shot and went into a neuroleptic shock. I barely remember getting in the ambulance to the hospital in provo. Apparently they couldn't treat me, so I got life flighted to salt lake. I was already taking depakote for epilepsy, and they took me right off, so starting hallucinating when I got back to provo canyon. So they drove me back to salt lake hospital. Was there for about another week. Glad my mom came up from San Diego to stay there with me for a few nights. There's this one staff named mark who tackled me to the ground just because I wouldn't take my sweater off. My therapist was a bitch who made some of the kids cry heard she got fired shortly after I left. Was seeing a therapist during high school to talk about my troubled childhood. I was raised a mormon. That's one of the reasons why my parents sent me there. Fast forward tell I've been smoking weed none stop because I've always been depressed of my past. Took lsd a few times this summer. Never taken it before. It was mostly a pleasant experiences. Stopped smoking for about a month. Started up again just a few days ago, and the memory from that place started hitting me so intense to where I was just sitting up in my bed in a panic with tears running down my face. All the way through high school I had trouble making friends. All I wanna do right now is travel outta country. I already dropped outta college, just been working construction ever since. 😞

This is hard to listen to . When I was teen I was really skinny. My older brother was bigger ( 6’4”, 300lbs ), and took out all his penned aggression from football and school out on me, literally beat me constantly. He was the football player my parents took up for and bragged about, so they did nothing to stop him. I stayed away from home on my bike and then car until early morning and then wouldn’t go to to school because I was tired from not sleeping. My dad was a judge, and had U.S. Marshals come in my room in the middle of the night, put me in a caged prisoner transport car and take me to an out of state “ re-hab “ with chronic drug abusers, alcoholic kids, etc. , and the Dr. diagnosed me with paranoia and depression ( I was getting the shit beat of me at home ), of course I’d be a nervous wreck. The Dr. there would diagnose whatever the person’s insurance would pay for, and say you’re ready to go home when the insurance ran out. So going back to the same situation, it was a repeat cycle of this FIVE times. I finally got my GED and joined the military at 17 just to get the hell out, and prove to myself I wasn’t crazy, but the middle of the night snatching me up, has severely affected me in the military with insomnia and fear of going to sleep when it was crucial that get rest to continue our missions. My parents fuckd me up bad mentally doing that shit, and it was almost like they thought it was the thing to do to label me as mentally ill because didn’t go to school, never addressing I was getting beat up, so I stayed away from home until morning and then slept through the school hours from exhaustion. The hardest thing is one time when I was a teen, my dad went to a car dealer friend’s business, and the guy asked my dad “ this isn’t the football player, this is your trouble son ?” . How in the fck would you feel as a kid knowing that your parents had said that about you to their friends? It’s like they are promoting you to become a trouble kid, or convincing you to think you’re crazy. I can identify with this %100, and yea the Army became a closer family to me than my own. It fcking suks. . .

PTSD? What a joke. In the 90’s when I was there they slammed you into walls, dial 9 meant you hit every door way on the way to investment and the textured wall paper the whole way until investment? Yeah that would remove skin on your face. Then you got to investment where “tiny” would put you in the isolation room and slam you into the wall, put you in jogging shorts, a sweatshirt torn up so bad your arms and stomach were fully exposed and then open the door to the outside with it snowing outside and make you freeze. I’m not complaining I’m simply giving you the information to show what changed my mind I don’t want to be a fuck up my entire life. I’m from Cali and that place changed me, along with a few of the people I know from there. Shame you didn’t learn to be smarter.

Maybe you wouldn’t have went there if you would have stopped fucking up every other chance before they sent you there. No one would have changed without that place putting you in your place and obviously since you’re acting like you’re abused nothing will change you from being a fuck up. .. this is quite a story ..what these young people endured..when I was young..about ten my parents mostly my mom tried to get rid of me...for various reasons.. the plan was to send me to some full time military school..i I was refered to or called "the damn kid" it t never happened..I remember how it felt not being wanted.. one time my father beat me so bad I bled thru the back for a week... I would have run away but had no money or place to go..all this got better as time went on.. for what its worth I can really relate to these kids stories and their situations... I think a lot of this goes on... Thanks to Paris Hilton for exposing the Provo torture school... it is my understanding these places are inspected by the state... but they know when they are coming and clean the place up..also, the interview with Paris's mom.. she claims she didnt know what was going on...!!.. good job mom...

Honestly if I could afford a lawyer to go up against this place with the PTSD trauma I gained after being there, from the screams, crying, awful frightening things I’ve heard and seen that I literally die just to think about and I’m holding tears back as I write this just because I finally feel I haven’t been alone in my thoughts about how awful this place is and how much harm it’s caused me. There are others. You guys. This place took what strength I had left in me and took it down so many levels I still can’t even get back to the state I was in before this place. :”( I hope places like this get shut down. I gained three stalkers from that place one being a registered sex offender that I have no idea how any of them found me. Guessing social media but I never felt safe. Feared I’d get kicked or punched on accident of purposely but other patients constantly standing there crying in the middle of it all and stuck there forced to take drugs and comply even though I could hardly stay awake sitting up in my chair from all their medication just so I could get out of the place! This place really left me scarred. :”(

I was at PCS from 96-98 with Paris Hilton and Katarina VonDrakkenberg (Kat Von D). First, Paris did not escape. She was removed by her mother Kathy because in 3 months time there she gained 20 lbs. Her mother believed the the extra weight would ruin Paris fron success in modeling. These kids are not lying. The horrors there are true. I never got off investment. The treatment at PCS is to break your children first only to rebuild them minus their issues. I am an attorney now despite PCS.

@lisandy777 Shame on any parent who willingly places their child in one of these facilities. I made a point to really talk to every girl who was enrolled with me at PCS, and not =one= of them was as bad, or "at risk" as they were made out to be. Sexual abuse is prevalent in these facilities, and, sadly, death from misuse of restraints and sedatives are not unheard of. If you were worried about the mortality & chastity of your child, you made an egregious choice in sending her away.
