You’re welcome! This game is definitely weird in a few places, but it has a charm that I’ll admit made it very memorable for me! Would love to see at least a few episodes to get through the opening chapters with the game, but I’d be down for a full playthrough if you’re both feeling it!
I remember thinking the game was silly but enjoyable, with the only real issue I remember was one specific platforming section in the late game portion.
This is one of those games where if you told me absolutely nothing about it, I could figure out the creators (or at least the 'influences') within 2 minutes. The characters look exactly like that era of Pokemon, the 999 and Danganronpa fingerprints are all over the narrative & structure.
this is clealry aimed more in the weirder spectrum of "please fully suspend your disbelief" cuz damn, even in something as wacky as Dangan Ronpa, those kids at least showed some restraint at first with wanting each other dead. the second this became a life or death situation, half of the kids already went for the throat like they've been waiting for this day.
I had to do a double take when I saw this in my subs, really cool that you're playing this!! The gameplay's definitely pretty clunky but I think the cast and story are charming, I hope you enjoy!
I have genuinely never heard of this game before but it sounds like it’s got a stacked team behind it. I can’t believe the winner gets a keyblade! This definitely seems interesting so I wouldn’t mind watching more. I don’t see at the moment why they can’t all use the door that opens the exit after opening it once, maybe we’ll get a good reason for it eventually
One of the Danganronpa anime series had something similar involving bracelets. Although instead of tasks to complete, each character has a forbidden action. If they perform that action or fulfill the condition, then they get injected with a lethal poison
As Nr. 5 WEC Defender, this game really has Balan Wonderworld syndrome: The developers have experience in anything but platformers, why did they make it one?
i have a soft spot for world's end club, but as other people have been saying, the platforming sections leave a lot to be desired. 😅 hope you guys enjoyed it regardless!!!
I'm all in on this playthrough. The music is surprisingly good and it doesn't seem like a survival game where you try to keep everyone alive. Original trailer way back when was a little misleading on that. Sidescroller seems to just be an element. I'm excited for this.
I keep meaning to get back to this one, I think I'm maybe halfway through, but it unfortunately didn't grab me as strongly as DR/Zero Escape. Raincode was excellent though! I'd recommend that one for a spiritual successor. The designs in this are all cute and fun though, I like Pielope.
Huh, I remember this being announced but never heard anything about it after that. Wondering what it's like... (and hoping this bodes well for an eventual ZTD playthrough down the line, lol) Oh, they literally mentioned it as a possibility in this episode YEAHHH
I wonder if they're not really dying, since we're not seeing the sludge making happen. I thing Aniki is lying, and that Pai has the real task, which is why she said, "Why would you-" the last word was lie, I think.
I really need to watch a deep dive into this game's development or something. I don't want to read too much about it because I do want to play it, but I have a general understanding of the big first act twist. But how does something like that end up happening? I heard a rumor that it was because the premise was too dark, but I don't think that wound up being true. I think it was all intended from the start. But then... why exactly? From that, and hearing that the gameplay is super simple and shallow, and then the weird release format, it's hard to wrap my head around. I'm still excited to see more from TooKyo since it's a collab of the two most batshit (lovingly) story writers in the industry. I had no idea it was the Sun/Moon character designers, but it shows.
sigh, none of these mascots will ever live up to monokuma. This game does look p interesting, love seeing you guys play these types of games even if ends up being a one-off. Im always a sucker for a good silent protag and the underwater atmosphere gets it some points too.
WEC is the perfect example of horrible gameplay but compelling story, specially towards the later half. Memories of playing this game is me and my sis doing rock-paper-scissor to decide who had to suffer the platform and having fun with the story similar to watching a Netflix show.
This one's definitely an acquired taste. Unless you really vibe with the characters and storytelling, I don't think the gameplay's enough to keep you interested.
I have … feelings about this game. Very interested to see what you think. Also, at least in my version of the game, the language options included English (Australian) which was the first time I’ve seen it. I think it only affected a small handful of lines.
Glad you are playing this. I got it on release and got a couple hours in and I was upset by the rug pull of the first act and the controls were just terrible and basically shouldn’t be there
I liked this game but I haven't played it in 2-3 years. I have finished the whole game but never felt the urge to go back and play it. If you do a long play I'll watch the whole thing but if not at least you checked it out.
I played the demo of this and it was UNBEARABLE, from its sluggishness to it premise basically being "danganronpa for kids", so it's nice to see the dudes having a crack at it
The gameplay is definitely not a great draw, but the story gets really interesting if you get into it. It seems at the outset like it's rehashing a lot of tropes both Uchikoshi and Kodaka have used in the past, but it ends up really subverting and messing around with them when you get into it.
Oh, no, game is godawful. It's like, a childrens game in terms of how difficult it is which makes it pretty godawfully boring at times. But it does have some neat parts.
Man, I forgot that this game actually released in 2 parts (that or it had a demo or something that covered literally half the game). Such an odd choice, especially given how this is like, some of the most godawfully boring gameplay.
