excellent comparison! I was leaning towards the H75, but I think I am going to swing for the M65. Most everyone I talk to that has this amp says this is the best speaker for it. Thanks!

Spot-on I built a pine open back 2x12 vertical and run Archon 100 and also Gladius 50 MK2 67 , through it, they sound amazing!! Friends are always wanting to use my cab. Great video and sound clips are very good as well.

The H75 need more break-in period, and need an amp with more wattage to really push the best out of it, then the H30 annie sound better, but the V30 sound the best for the Archon, might be a bit tighter on the lows and shaved Treble but all the mids on distortion it brings out the voice of that particular amp and is not bad on cleans either. Agree the M65 is difficult to sound bad, it sound great on almost every amp (if the amp is not dark by nature) and my close back cream back m65/v30 is one of my favorites combinations.

Thanks for review and it was pretty good and original. Beside showing well all those speakers you were very articulate what you like and what you dislike. This is pretty rare on comparisons. Cheers from Poland 💜👍💜

Awesome video mate. Very informative. I'm in the process of buying 2 speakers for a 2x12 to use with my Peavey 6505. The Creamback M65 is definitely a contender.

Thanks! I’ve been loving the M65 - it’s currently paired with a V30 and that combo is great. Gonna be doing a 2x12 shootout soon. Thanks for watching!

@@deltarider99 won't the V30 overpower the M65? People seem to prefer the V30 mixed with either the H75 or the Anniversary. I actually think the M65 mixed with the T75 might present a very interesting, more balanced, mix. Options, options...

I rarely ever play my archon 25 through the 1x12, I either play it through a Mesa Traditional 4x12 or a Mills Acoustics Afterburner 4x12. Sounds absolutely massive through either of those, both v30s. It has that mesa sound so v30s make sense to me. For a lot of stuff, I think it sounds better than my Rev G Dual Rec. Cool video. Soon I’ll be trying it through some 10” speakers

That's awesome! Mine is ok through the combo and a closed-back 1x12, but I've often wondered about running it into a 4x12. Might just have to try it 👍

Great comparison! Recordings are different that the room sound for sure but, from the clips in high quality headphones, the H75 was my clear favorite and the T75 was by far the worst. It has few redeeming qualities, too boomy, can be very harsh and they have a weird midrange. Scooped where it counts and irritating upper mids. In this comparison, the H75s and V30s would cut best in a mix IMO but I can understand both might be overbearing for bedroom playing.. I know the T75s well as I have a Marshall 1960A 4x12 myself that had T75s in it and I played it a long time with 3 different amps. I replaced them recently with 2 H75s and 2 V30s in X pattern. For me the combo of these two speakers is amazing. My main amp is a Revv Dynamis 7-40 head which has a great chimey Fendery clean and a fat gain channel with pretty Marshally midrange but very harmonically rich. The Dynamis now shines in my cab after the speakers swap. I'm still breaking them in too but I' now sensing them loosening up and it's a much more balanced tone than the T75s gave me. Less bassy and much less irritating high end. I hear you about thre H75s having a somewhat brash midrange but that's much less the case in a 4x12 from my experience with mine. They actually balance the mid forward tone of the V30s really well. And they don't have the woody Greenbacks tone of the M65s. We all love a lot of albums recorded with old vintage Greenbacks but that's not the tone I'm after for myself. I have the official plugin for it and it does sound great and I agree with you that the Archon seems more in the Mesa camp than the Marshall camp. That indeed makes their choice of a T75 as the speaker for that amp very strange... and completely the wrong choice IMO. My preference is more on the Marshall side for crunch and high gain and Fender for cleans so the Creamback/V30 mix makes sense for me. Your choice of the M65 makes sense for what you are going for although, in your clips, I found it a bit dark. But, other than the T75, none of these speakers sounded bad with your amp.

Awesome insights here! I think another aspect might be the H75 in the open-back cab in the Archon. From everything I've read (and your comments above), it seems that the H75 may be better suited to closed-back applications. Plus - you're 100% right - it's not a good candidate for bedroom play. Glad to hear we're in agreement on the nightmare that is the T75 LOL

Question for you (much later, of course): You made about each speaker and about which speaker you liked the most. How did you come to that conclusion? Were you listening to the speaker in the room or did you listen to the mic'ed sound before you came to those conclusions? I ask because I thought the G12h 30 sounded pretty good under the mic when I level-matched things. It's NOT the V30 (which always sounds good) but I thought it did great with the distorted tones (when level-matched against everything else). I'm looking for a complement to my V30s assortment (I have V30s from a late-90s Marshall 4x12 and from a 2001 Mesa 2x12) and I thought the G12h 30 sounded like it would be different but good on it's own. Just curious about your thoughts/methods! Especially with an open-back cab and a different goal in mind (I own/operate/engineer at a recording studio and it sounds like you're trying to have the most fun time you can jamming an amp) the results/impressions can be drastically different. Thanks for any insight you can lend (from a million years ago) and thanks for putting together this video!

Hey there! And thanks for the thoughtful comment! To answer your question - my basis came from a mix of the mic'ed up tones in addition to the feel from playing. It's interesting - I'm still using the M65 in the Archon; not that it sounded the absolute best out of all the speakers, but it had the best feel in the room and it pairs really well with a V30 in a sealed box. However - you brought up the G12H30. After the demo, I decided to throw the G12H30 into another amp I had laying around (Blackstar Artist 15), and the results were fantastic - for that amp, it's probably the best speaker I've tried in it. It didn't quite work "in the room" for the Archon, but it's massive sounding in the Blackstar. Especially with fuzz pedals. And just for kicks, I hooked up the Archon and the Blackstar together, and the results were pretty great - best of all worlds!

@@deltarider99 that's super interesting! I've liked the G12H30 in many of the demos I've heard so it doesn't surprise me that you found a home for it. That phenomenon right there is why I have a few speakers that "don't sound great" living in some "lesser respected" cabs. Sometimes they just do something specific and I know that at some point down the line I'm going to find their perfect home and I'll be happy I didn't chuck 'em in the garbage. Have any guitar playing/gear/writing/recording revelations happened in your world since you made this video? Thanks again for doing these initial tests AND for the reply after all this time!

Great video, I was assuming you were going to play a ton of blues lead tones and was pleasantly surprised to hear some harder distorted tones which is what makes it trickier when listening to demos for me since I prefer more distortion . The creamback 75s felt like a brighter/clearer 65 to me but I read you said it never got any better. I felt the 65 . Around 9:23 when Playing an open chord It seems undefined with the 65, but cleaner on the 75 and g12h30. Tonally it almost seemed like the g12h30 was in between the 65 and 75. Did you find the g12h30 too be brighter than them in the room? Iv heard people say it’s too bright yet it didn’t seem as bright as the 75 or v30. I kinda preferred it’s clarity, I didn’t notice it sound like it was doing that speaker about to blow up greenback thing . Iv been debating on the h75 too. But also worried it was too bright on the top while also too warm. Some demos make them sound Terribly warm . I also have t75s but for some of my blackstars I’m looking into extension cabs, maybe also for my marshall. I just don’t want to be stuck trying to resell speakers

Wow - amazing feedback. Thanks for sharing!! The G12H30 is crazy bright - it definitely needs the right amp to pair with. It's currently in a Blackstar Artist 15 and sounds fantastic. Too bright/thin (thin was the biggest hangup) for the Archon. Still my fave for cleans. Haven't gone back to the H75 since this video and probably won't. I'm still running the Creamback 65 in the Archon, and then using the Vintage 30 in a closed-back extension cab. Definitely a favorite combination. For the T75, I'd only recommend them if you were mixing and matching with other speakers. They don't sound terrible when blended with V30s, but they are awful (just, awful) on their own. UNLESS you're running a loaded 4x12 with a JCM800 and your sole intent is to nail 80s hair metal - in that context, they could be ok :)

I bought h75 with the same attitude. Your experience is 100% like mine. I couldn't stand this midrange. It was so stiff and unmusical. The sound of my fingers sliding on strings between chords was emphesised :/ I sold mine ... Does "cream" family (m/h/alnico) share the same cone? Is this midrange problem with only H75? I'm going to try m65.
@deltarider99
@deltarider99 3 года назад
It never got better, either. I tried it in a Blackstar Artist 15 and it was completely unusable. Not sure if the cones are the same, but the M65 got it done for me. Darker sound but is MUCH easier to work with and modify to your liking. Go for it!

Maybe I am the midrange nerd hear =D but so much I like each speaker for its purpose, I am obsessed with the midrange of the H75 =D straight with every detail... so a lid for each pot
@adrs2
@adrs2 2 года назад
@@NIn3TY0 Maybe you just hit the sweetspot with different guitar/amp combination. Creamback H just filled what was missing in rest of Your setup. In my case it emphesised all I wanted to hide. In my case creamback M is more balanced, but not so lively like vintage 30, creamback H feels a bit like overequalised stiffer M65 for me. But I'm about to put v30 back, because I removed treble bleed on clean channel and have done a lot of modding on drive in my amp and I need to compare it one more time. In my case when I check a new speaker I always do a lot of tweaking to the pramp to hit the sweet spot on both channels. I failed to get it with g12h75. G12m65 was easy with both channels, v30 was hard for me to find a perfect clean channel, but drive channel was the best.
