A look at the 1979 release by the house of Paul Sebastian, this is an amazing aromatic masculine spice and musk fragrance. This falls in line with the barbershop fougere category and is an extremely good performer. Instagram : k_cavella88
Someone gave a bottle of Paul Sebastian to my dad who only wore Old Spice, so he offered it to my husband. That was 31 years ago. He still wears it to this day! He gets compliments on it all the time! I actually have had women I don't know come up to me and ask "What is your husband wearing? I have to get some for my husband/boyfriend"! Seriously it smells amazing! I tell everyone that cologne is the reason we have children! Lol.
Used to wear this about 20 years ago. Wasn't into fragrances then, but it was a gift. From what I can remember, it smells good. Now that I'm really into fragrances, will definitely pickup a new bottle. Thanks for the review.
Lamar Williams oh it smells so nice, very great performance and awesome scent, at a low price so it hits on all 3 factors, look for the gift set so you can get the matching aftershave, I think it was 14$ total for me at a Burlington store, thank you for watching and commenting sir!
This is a cologne that my late Father swore by . It was his signature fragrance . My older brother swears by it now, and it is his signature fragrance now too . There's an older gentleman at my old job who also rocks this scent . I have owned it once in life also . It is a pleasant scent for sure, but I don't feel that it is for everyone . It definitely, because of its age appeals to older men . I'm not saying that it's an old man scent, but what I am saying is that it is a quite unique scent out there, that's been around, and is trusted by middle aged, and older men . I believe younger men in their twenties, and thirties can rock this too, but not an high schooler I believe . When I smell this cologne I think mature, and strong . That's how it comes off to me .
Leslie Scott I completely agree it is not for everyone, I wore it Briefly and absolutely enjoy the scent but it is veryyy strong almost to wear I even was sort of overwhelmed by it, I have not reached for it in a while and as it gets warmer I know it will not make an appearance for a while, thank you for watching and commenting dude!
My experience is highly similar. My Dad wore PS by Paul Sebastian almost exclusively for the last 25-30 years of his life. I liked it and gave him some at Christmas or his birthday over the years. He passed away recently - my Mom put a few dabs of the aftershave on him at our final private viewing - and I inherited his PS by Paul Sebastian. It's now in my collection and will be worn proudly to honor him. I'm no spring rooster but I am active, fit, stylish, successful, and wear my age as an asset, so the corny "old man" trope bounces right off me.
Thank you for this fine review. I have been wearing this cologne since 1979!! I also have numerous other scents in my collection but nothing has come close to PS with regard to the number of compliments I have received. I feel like if it were repackaged and reintroduced to the market, it would definitely be a top seller. They must have incorporated a LOT of pheromones into the formula because the ladies love it!! Also, still can't believe the price:)
Rick Dowell it would be nice to see the bottle get a relaunch with an updated presentation, the scent is awesome it’s very powerful as well and lasts such a long time. The cost is a huge plus as well! Thank you for watching and commenting sir!
Bob Jones You are absolutely correct It use’t to be Amazing! But Not for the last 5-Years! I use’t to get a lot of compliments on it, but not anymore! Their are a lot of Online Sellers including eBay/Amazon & FragranceX selling & deceiving buyers with “Counterfeit/Fake/Knock-Offs!” So my Research & Investigations have determined that the Only Place to Buy The Original/Authentic PS are Dept. Stores like Macy’s. The Owner/Manufacturer of PS Is Elizabeth Arden/Revlon & they confirmed their are a lot of Abuses going-on in the Fragrance Industry! (The only way to know for sure if you are getting the “Real Stuff” is if there is a “Lot/Batch Code” on the Bottom of the Bottle). The last 2-Bottles I Bought from FragranceX Did-Not have this Code! (So It’s Counterfeit!). So if you have any of the Original/Authentic Formula, your right use it Sparingly!
@@johnnyboy2472 ok - i just ordered a 2 oz. bottle from Macy's for $39 -- we'll see how this does. ALSO this reminds me - probably the only other cologne that I STILL GET tons of compliments on -- and you can still get the original at Neiman Marcus -- is Tuscany !!! I NEVER fail to get compliments on TUSCANY when I wear it. I don't know if there is anything that compares to it. well you better check Macy's for Tuscany - they have 3.2 oz for $70 - I don't see it at NM anymore -- I still have a half bottle left
Patrick Batemans signature scent lol..incidentally I met Bret Easton Ellis once, he said he doesnt wear fragrance too much but when he does he would wear Xeryus
My Dad recently passed away and wore PS by Paul Sebastian almost exclusively for the last 25-30 years of his life. I always liked it, and my Mom told me I could have Dad's toiletries so I've added his PS by Paul Sebastian products to my collection and wear it to memorialize and honor him. While I'm no spring rooster, I'm active, fit, stylish, and embrace my age as an asset. Don't fall victim to the mindless "old man" narrative - an established gentleman of any age could do far worse than PS by Paul Sebastian. Wear with confidence!
Thank you for sharing that Keith, that is a cool story, I really enjoy this fragrance a lot and wear it a lot more now than when I initially did this review. I love classics they are the best mens fragrances. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Excellent review, my friend! This is barbershop to the max. You want to hear something scary? I have a bottle from 2014 and it is even stronger than the current version. Supernova! BTW, there is no Paul Sebastian. Two guys from Jersey combined their names to create this beast.
That crazy I didn’t know that thank you for the knowledge, I would love to try one stronger than the one I have which I think is a beast already lol, thank you for watching and for commenting bro!
Such an awesome fragrance. Some ppl say it smells dated but I don’t really get that. I actually think it’s an awesome yellow floral/musky fragrange with solid performance. And best of all it’s relatively unique by today’s standards. My gf who doesn’t even like fragrances even said it smells great. Inoffensive, versatile, and extremely inexpensive. It’s a winner.
SunsetSheen I agree 100% it smells amazing, it’s masculine, it’s beast mode performance, as soon as I wore it I knew I wanted to complete the collection and get some other products to match the cologne to add to its performance (not that it needed it lol) but I really enjoy this scent a lot. Thank you so much for watching and commenting dude !!
Im in LA on a school trip from norway, second year, last year i was new to fragrance, bought aramis, fell in love with that, this year i bought this, ive fallen in love again, it reminds me very much of taylor of old bond streets sandalwood cologne, it got that same western , dusty barbershop smell, amazing spicy freshie, only downside is that i got a splash😭 i need to find some sort of sprayer
Colognes don't stay on my skin for very long, but PS lasts and lasts. I get compliments on PS (ladies and gents). I like it, they like it. I am not a rich man, so PS is one of my favorite juices.
I already went and got two that you had reviewed in the past! You were very convincing...but, I also love the types of fragrances that you like! This is one my list to buy! Since the two (One Man Show - Jacques Bogart and Perry Ellis for Men (1985) ) that I watched your review on and that I purchased 'blind buy'....I love both of them!!! So, you seem to be on the right track of what I like!
Dude that’s awesome !! I’m glad I could help influence some new cologne picks and the fact that you like both of them is great!. OMS and Perry Ellis for men are among my favorites. I was considering re-reviewing one man show since I like it so much. But you can’t go wrong with Paul Sebastian fine cologne it’s awesome ! Thank you again for watching and commenting I really appreciate it!
Im currently trying to live like Patrick Bateman. And this cologne is something that he would wear according to the book. Thank you for the review. Hey, nice hair!
Jimmy Svitjod lol I hope you are not picking up hookers and murdering them 🤣🤣 I never read the book I just watched American psycho and his 80’s Wall Street persona is cool in the movie he wore YSL pour Homme since it was sitting in his bathroom cabinet in the opening scene...one of my favorite movies lol but he wore PS fine cologne in the book? Thank you for watching and commenting bro!
Scents Of South Jersey yes he did, and he despised Paco Rabanne hahaha. Yeah will not pick up his blood thirst. But his skin care, diet, workout and fashion is real life goals. To think that Christian Bale was 25 while shooting the film is just crazy.
Jimmy Svitjod I found his diet online for that movie that he did and it worked really well he was shredded in that movie. That whole era was sick ! It’s funny he hated paco Rabanne lol and cool it talked about that in the book
This is an old-school, masculine, gentleman fragrance. Sophisticated. Before today's "unisex" confused fragrances. This fragrance knows what it is. It's manly, it's kind, it's sophisticated, it's peaceful, it's fatherly, it values family and is not polarizing, but unifying. It's definitely musky, but not dirty musk like Royall Muske by Royall Lyme Bermuda. Another great fragrance that just isn't quite as refined as this. Some older colognes, like Royall Muske and larger bottles of Thierry Mugler Cologne have screw on atomizers. It's quite a nice option if you want to decant, refill or use as a splash. I wonder if that's why your atomizer has a collar that unscrews. Are you able to remove the atomizer too? That would be a plus for me. I have the 8 oz splash because it's the same price and also a cologne concentration, so should be the same juice, I think. I do see that the 4 oz spray like yours is a darker yellow, though, which usually means higher concentration, so who knows? I borrowed a bottle orifice reducer from another aftershave bottle I have and plugged it in so I can use my PS cologne as an aftershave. It does last as long as most of my EDTs though.
Thanks brother ! I picked it up on a whim while I was out one day I’m really glad I did because it’s such a great cologne, masculine musky sweet, and is a beast performer surprisingly
Hey bro, I just picked up a bottle of PS Kinetic it's so nice. Fresh, lightly spicy, decent longevity and projection is characteristic, but it's green like as if it were the inspiration for Kenneth Cole "Reaction" cologne. I haven't seen any reviews about it but would love to hear your thoughts about it.
This is very clove heavy spice, reminds me of my Lustray’s Blue Spice 💈 Aftershave. Which btw is a good thing. Just purchased and I will probably buy a big ass splash bottle of this when I finish the 125ml spray.
It’s such a good cologne, I felt super late to the party with this one only discovering it recently lol thank you for watching / commenting and for the support brother I will return the favor and subscribe and check out your reviews !!
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey I can't believe I just found you. I've been in fragcomm for a year and a half, and reviewing for over a year. I thought I knew every reviewer, but I keep running across new ones all the time! :) Do you have a Facebook page?
That Red car tree air fresher they discontinued years ago called Spice that what it smells like to me this is Amazing it's not just alright I still like Azzaro Pour homme but this is better.
I got a gift set of the aftershave splash and fragrance and I shaved and used the aftershave at about 8 last night and then about an hour later before I left for work I used 3 sprays and now 12+ hours later I'm still getting whiffs of this. I love this stuff. It reminds me of a higher quality Old Spice.
I liked it years ago when I first wore it almost religiously, but it didn’t last through a workday for me. It’s similar to Obsession and a good value for the money.
Paul Sebastion is a copy of a Yugoslavian after shave eau de cologne called Ralon. Ralon costs about half price od PS and was realised 50 years before PS. In my opinion Ralon has a better, more masculine, openning than PS but it lasts 3 times shorter than PS.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey The notes of PS and Ralon on paper are different, but their openning is very similar, about 90%. The moment I sprayed PS on my skin, a strong remembrance to Ralon instantly appeared. Their dry down is different, as Ralon doesn't have the powderiness. It's funny but I prefer Ralon because it's a bit more masculine :-)
I been wearing it since late 2019 and also use to have oil paul sebastion that gas stations have sum time and its smells pretty close to spray just one of the top notes or different but its the better colonge fo its price, most colonges from 10 to 40 bucks loose smell within a hr and u do have to unscrew top on spray from time to time cause it gets air pockets and wont spray out good
Hey Bob, Sorry to hear you’ve been had by Macy’s, I’m Surprised! You might want to reach-out to Elizabeth Arden/Revlon as I did! They made it right, & sent me 2-New Bottles of the Current/Authentic PS. (This new stuff is still nearly as good as the Original Formula from the early 80’s, but way better than the Counterfeit Fake Knock-Offs that I got from FragranceX!). I guess I need to Change it up! What do you think of “Tuscany Cologne” by Amaris? Have you ever done a review?
Johnny Boy the PS gift set I got at Burlington smells great and lasts all day / night performance wise. I have original Aramis but I have not had Tuscany for so long, when I was a kid my dad had a bottle and gave it to me u remember wearing it from time to time and I couldn’t definitely remember the scent but I do not own it yet. Thank you for watching dude !
Bro, after watching ur review I tried this cologne out. It's too outdated for me. I wouldn't take it even if it was free! I'll stick to what works for me cool water and Versace Eros flame.. thanks
Update! I found out Elizabeth Arden Owns PS COLOGNE! Apparently after reaching out to them, they confirmed there are a lot of sellers out there Deceiving Buyers selling Counterfeit/Fake/Knock-Off Versions of this PS Cologne. So I guess it’s Buyer Beware Time! They also confirmed there was a Slight Formula Change in 2004!!!
John McColeman well that’s good to know, I purchased my gift set from a retail store so I’m confident it’s legitimate but anyone looking for vintage should be cautious online
Scents Of South Jersey: Have you had any experience or interactions with FragranceX as a Seller? They Proudly Advertise on their Website that they Only Sell Authentic/Original Fragrances! But as you & I know that Doesn’t Necessarily Make it So!!!???
John McColeman I have purchased several products off FragranceX and I have been happy with all of the products. I am confident they are 100% authentic plus shipping is very fast. It’s a little more than fragrancenet but they ship faster and often have more old school scents and there matching products
If you like PS, look for vintage bottles of their discontinued fragrances VSOP and Brownstone. I still have vintage of each and actually think these two are better than the PS fragrance
gamusiclover I have never heard of any other scent from The paul Sebastian like other than PS fine that’s interesting, thank you for the recommendation and for watching sir !
I wholeheartedly agree! V.S.O.P. is extraordinary! I was fortunate to find fresh vintage bottles of this as well as Brownstone, which is a super sexy scent. No disrespect to PS, but V.S.O.P. and Brownstone are on a whole other level. The challenge is finding bottles that still smell fresh after all these years, but I've been very fortunate. Scents of South Jersey - excellent review of PS. Keep up the good work!
well this is a very heavy scent and blows performance out of the water, so if you like powdery barbershop floral then maybe but i would guess that it might be a bit much if you are used to creeds, this is like 1/100th of the cost of a creed lol i love it though lol, sorry for late reply and thank you for watching and commenting dude!
I have thought about it, I am thinning it down a lot though especially recently, selling off the stuff I never wear even if I like it. Just keeping and buying what I love and finishing bottles
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey that’d make another great vid: fragrances I reach for most often! Bro, I’d love to see what bottles you’ve emptied! Or shoot me over a short list. I think we have similar tastes. On a side note, appreciate the work you put into these vids. Keep pushing through! I know there’s gotta be tough days where you question making and posting content. Don’t! Absolutely love what you’re doing man. Keep on keeping on!
The scent smells great it’s not expensive and it’s very long lasting, you’d probably get compliments but it’s nothing like what’s produced today totally different style. Thank you for watching and commenting dude !
Any fragrances you would recommend for a young guy like me? I want a manly scent, not too soft but not too strong either, and that last long. Thank you bro, love from the Philippines.
Mohammad Madid go with Drakkar noir, lomani Pour Homme or one man show, they are all not expensive and really great masculine scents that are strong but not over the top. The best of the best is Kouros by ysl but that’s beast mode. Thank you for watching and commenting bro!
Sir, I am looking for similar to Old Spice classic Clonge fargarance. My grandpa use to use this now same fargarance is not making by Old Spice. If you know any perfume smell like this. please suggest me a name or website.
I have been wearing PS COLOGNE since 1982, so I definitely know what it should smell like & how long it should stay with you! Unfortunately I have Not been happy with my purchases for the last 3-Years! It is a Lot Weaker & only lasts Approx 2-Hours! The Manufacturer has either changed the Formula, or I am getting a "KNOCK-OFF" watered down version! (Not the Original Authentic Version that I have become use to!). Does anyone know who is currently making it in the USA.? As I would like to Contact them to see if I can still get "The Real Stuff!". This has been my Absolute Favourite Cologne for 37-Years, but the Current Stuff I have Purchased is Very Disappointing!!!
I agree 100% - I have been wearing since the early 90s - and the new formulations don't last - and the profile has changed just a little -- I wish they could keep the vintage formulation.
this scent is not for everyone, its almost to heavy to be a barbershop scent i think sometimes and i could see where you might associate it with the older generation but i still enjoy it a lot and it lasts all day long lol thank you for watching and commenting dude!
Xx The Dude xX this smells nothing like old spice in my opinion, it’s way more musky in my opinion. But if you like classic style and insane performance absolutely pick this one up. Thank you for watching and commenting bro!
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Greetings, Brother. Excellent review of PS. The gentlemen (FS) is referring to a discontinued scent by Paul Sebastian called Casual for Men that came out in the 90s. It was a fresh, metallic scent that now goes for big bucks on Ebay. Decent scent, but not worth the outrageous prices, in my own humble opinion. Keep up the good work!
