got myself the purple shell aswell, altho i had to order the top and bottom piece standalone cause amazon only had them seperate :3 but now its purple transparent, with white accents :D
I didnt use glue again but it's better if you get it off with the glue. Using a blow dryer or heat gun will really help. With enough heat applied you can get under the touchpad board and slowly start to pry it up. If enough heat is applied the board with lift up along with the glue
Hey man. I love your videos. They helped me install all my xtremerate mods. It was a process lol. I installed the back paddles, L.E.D's, clicky triggers and new front plate and touch pad. But I have an issue, Which I have no idea how it happened or how to fix it. The new touch pad is loose and wiggles around.... If anyone can let me know how to fix this and what I did wrong that would be so amazing and greatly appreciated. I am wondering if it has something to do with the fact that on the original back plate. There is a rectangular piece of foam in the middle of it. Because I re watched the videos involving the touch pad and I followed the instructions to the letter.
When you use a heat gun or blow dryer, the glow on touchpad board will loosen up. Some times when you're taking out the board it'll either be stuck on the board or the touchpad. You can use a plastic tool to scrape it off carefully from the board. Luckily most of the glue was stuck on the toucpad for this one.
Hey I followed the instructions and now my PS5 doesn’t recognize the controller as a PS5 controller so I can’t play PS5 games. Also the R2 no longer works. Would you happen to have any idea what could be causing this?
hows the functionality after you've changed it? As in does L2/R2 still shake in Astros Playroom, does the touch pad still read touches without the glue, Did the stick develop a dead zone given that they're different now, does the microphone still work after you unplugged and plugged the ribbon cable back in? Im cautious because PS5 controllers are up $10+ from the PS4 controllers
Alright I tested it! Here are answers. I ended uo changing everything to a different controller cause apparently someone had returned this one to Best Buy and my friend was given this used control that had bad drift. So after installing it on a fully working controller here are the results. #1: L2 & R2 still shake. It's just about knowing how to disassemble and assemble the triggers. #2: I can press on the touchpad BUT when I try to drag my finger on it, in Astros Controller Demo, the finger drag didn't register at all. (Will investigate if it because it doesn't have the glue). Pressing the touchpad does work though. #3: No dead zone developed from changing the thumbsticks sticks. #4: Mic still works after reconnecting
Update: I replaced the touchpad with another one. Doesn't have the glue as well. It's working with the finger drag. Just tried it with the message scrolling. Also tried it on Astro's and it registered on the "Controller Demo". Thanks for bringing this up! I was surprised I didn't notice the scrolling didn't work for the first touchpad board. Wondering why now. Well, it has a working touchpad without the glue though so that's all that matters for now.
@@im.a.caveman yeah every PS4 controller I've taken apart (about 3 now) to clean, something goes bad or doesn't work anymore. I've learned my lesson. The PS5 controllers are even more money to run the risk of damaging parts

So far I haven't come across a BDM-020. Those are mainly coming in with the ps5 consoles now. There could end up being more on shelves once BDM-010 is low on stock. I'm going to look into this and I'll update you. It's a very good question. Thanks for bringing it up.
That’s strange that some dualsense thumb sticks are concave both of mine are the normal one. White and black controller whoever opened the controller changed them I assume
Yeah, like I showed in the video, I slowly started to realize that someone opened it and messed around with the inside. Which is horrible because my buddy used his warranty at Best Buy to trade the controller for a new one and when he gave it to me to customize it, it already seemed suspicious. He never opened opened it himself. Then he told me it was from Best Buy. Really messed up that they would do that.
