Paul! Holy crap, dude, you're jacked! Way to go, dude, taking control of your health. I've been following for years and it's great to see you getting in good shape, mega proud of you bro.
If they released a PS5 that could play PS3-1 games like my old PS3 was able to do, then id buy it asap. Literally thats all i want. If it can run those games with higher resolution and FPS, then it would for sure be the best console.
I wouldn’t be that surprised if sony allowed you to download digital PS3 games. But I don’t think they’ll let PS3 discs work. It will probably be an extension to PS1 PS2 and PSP digital classics where they’ll add 2 or 3 games a month. If they managed to let PS3 discs work though that would be awesome. I have a few discs I’d love to play like final fantasy 13, the infamous games, gta4, etc.
Hopefully it’s to transfer the PS3 game store and play what you already purchased on the PS5. Other stuff like maybe enhancements make cost a little like graphics, etc.
These ai "conference call" features are going too far... I get blurring or changing the background... but putting Paul's head on david bautista body?! This is getting out of hand quickly!
I'm not a tech person, so this is probably a dumb question. Wouldn't it be easier for Sony to add a separate Cell processor to PS5 Pro solely for the purpose of emulation? Surely that processor is cheap to manufacture nowadays. Or is that not how computers work? idk
Key word, Gaming. When are your guys going to realize there are 2 categories of chips. As a developer, I could care less about x3d right now. 9950x as soon as it hit the streets...
@mickeymmcbride71 you couod care less about the 7950x3d there best cpu? If you were a developer that would have been the cpu you cared about most of all or better yet a 14900k.
@@drsm7947the 45% is for AES. It’s literally one CPU instruction, albeit a very important and heavily used one. AES is used anytime data needs to be encrypted (so anytime data is saved to hard disk on a laptop, or anytime you want to connect to an HTTPS server to browse the web). But it’s not representative of overall performance. Those AIDA benchmarks are much more useful in a server environment where cloud providers have hardware dedicated to a very narrow and specific use case, and those individual instructions are going to be used all day every day. For for all-purpose home computing, those benchmarks can be highly misleading unless you aggregate several dozen of them to get a better overall idea of how the CPU will perform.
Physical media means you actually own a copy of the games you bought and can't remotely be wiped out due to licensing issues. Wonder if the Zen5 APU is powerful enough to emulate the PS3 properly.
@@ZackSNetworknot true I emulate ps3 games on pc and you render at 4K if you want. Not upscale, render native and that's using open source stuff. Sony could throw very much more resources at it.
@@ZackSNetwork Why do you think that PS3 games look bad on modern TVs? PS3 games upscale well on modern 4k TVs in my experience. When PS3 was new everyone was playing on LCD displays, so the games were made for modern displays. When people say a game doesn't look good on modern TVs, they are usually talking about games made for CRTs. Any display post CRT is considered a modern TV.
Just to point out obvious. FP compute on CPU is vector pipelines. So wider vectors, wider interface to caches, both make anything using AVX-512 much faster, without telling how good it is with something else.
Would be awesome if PS2/PS3 titles could work on PS5 with AMD FSR to get 1080p/4k or something like that... which I guess could be done (I have no clue though) in emulators for computers today...
Paul so hyped about zen 5 dude made 45% physical gains. Dudes like srry I'm not on camer I'm editing (hitting the gym). hit up his other channel red liftng tech!
People have been talking about PS3 backwards compatibility for almost a decade I'm kind of over it I wish people stop bringing it up until they have a solid release window
😮 Paul. Wheres Yomata? Your other half? I've not watched you for a while. Been watching you guys for at least 6 years. Hope you both are doing good and yeah bro interesting news on ps5. But discs from ps3 needs to work and to be on par with xbox bc.
If comparable Desktop hardware (Ryzen 7 4700G + Radeon 6700-vanilla) can emulate the PS3, the Standard PS5 should already be able to run PS3 games...I'm pretty sure they are going to make PS3 Backwards Compatibility a PS5-Pro exclusive feature.
I disagree because the PS5 and PS5 Pro have the same exact CPU just a %10 overclock. They have the same 16 GBS of vram capacity as well. The GPU is only %45 faster than the PS5 GPU in rasterization performance.
@@ZackSNetwork I agree, but I think Sony is in arrogant mode, and think their customers are stupid. I know PS3 emulation is more CPU than GPU dependent, so if it could play on PS5-Pro, it should be able to play on PS5, due to being the SAME CPU...hence why I said, that the hardware in the PS5 available on the consumer market for PC can already play PS3 games really well.
I think the PS5 can't be backward compatible with the PS1 disc-based games because its laser head lacks infrared laser so it doesn't support CD-based games. It only has red & blue lasers so it can read DVD & Blu-ray discs so it's possible to support PS2 DVD games in the future firmware update but not PS2 CD games that are blue in color. PS3 discs are not a problem when laser head is a concern because PS3 discs are Blu-ray.
Mark Cerney really stressed how similar the customized AMD chips used for the Tempest audio are to the Cell SPUs. Perhaps that will be utilised for PS3 emulation? I called this after Road to PS5, but so far I look foolish.
The various PS1, PCSX2 and RPCS3 emulator groups have basically done all the legwork for them. All Sony have to do is optimise the balls off it all for a mere 2-3 hardware configurations assuming PS5 Pro is still happening. When PS6 comes out unless the hardware provider somehow shifts from AMD then it's a given that they won't have to work that hard to bring those emulators up to snuff with the new hardware.
Motorstorm, Resistance, would love to see GT5, GT6 get uprezzed and constant 60fps..... the rain in GT5 would rival and even beat Driveclub!! the rain in GT5 got nerfed for GT6
Hey that's cool! Yeah I still have a bunch of ps3 games that I really like. But replacing batteries on the controllers Is getting annoying. So yeah: would be cool to play them on a ps5. At the same time: use the pc mostly for productivity, so yeah: a higher ipc is very cool. So yeah: cool news :)
As much as I wanna believe that Sony will add every Playstation 2, 3, and PSP game to the PS5, I wouldn't hold my breath, and neither should you, some of these games are so old that I highly they don't have contracts that are long expired, that being the case we would be in a similar situation like Microsoft were in, where it just got to expensive to get these games over to the next gen platforms because of these contracts costing a lot to reestablish
I doubt Sony will allow you to just pop an old disc into the PS5. How does that profit them? While PS3 emulation would be cool, the state of the PS2 emulator doesn"t give me much hope.
Lmao why are you guys surprised he's jacked?! His previous videos shows he has a built frame especially his shoulders even with a full shirt on or whatever lol. I'm not surprised at all. I'm glad you take your physical health important bro! Keep it up
Suns out, guns out 😂 Hope the rumors around back compat are true. I’ve just started replaying some PS3 classics. Currently playing the original demons souls
Pardon my ignorance but why will CELL SPUs emulation be a problem when PS5 has a 8 core CPU with multithreading? PS3 didn't even had access to all SPUs... if i remember correctly from CEMU dev you can use one core for audio, one for GPU and one for CPU (in this case, CELL main Procesor Unit) and i think they use one more for misc stuff but is totally marginal... So in worse case you need 4 core for basic stuff and 4 core will be free for SPU emulation, thats should be enough, like i said, most PS3 did not use all SPU so it should be posible to have PS3 emulation. And thats not even counting SMT.
