I have 3 MTM210T's for LCR and 2 110's for left-right sound. And they are amazing. I have my surrounds where they are at the same height as the LCR's. I have had Paradigm, Axiom, Ascend Audio, GoldenEar, XTZ Cinema speakers and all a difference in sound. I paid $5,250 for 2 Paradigms 100's and the matching Center, and they did not sound anywhere as good as my PSA's and I got 5 speakers for $500 less. I also love that Tom is constantly on the AVS forums answering questions.
I love the fact that you were willing to try out so many different brands of speakers before finding your PSA setup. No doubt, they are absolutely killer speakers and if I had a dedicated room, I would have likely kept them. Effortless and dynamic are two words that I would describe the 3 210’s I had. Hearing speakers yourself is definitely the best way to make the most educated decision when it comes to making improvements and finding out what you like the sound of. Well done and excellent choice!
Im considering switching from Paradigm Studio 100's and the cc-690 center. Cool, seeing someone mention my setup and prefer the PSA speakers for a fraction of the cost.
Better is definitely subjective, when it comes to sound. I have loved the Paradigm speakers I have owned but I would expect these PSA speakers to be more dynamic and sound larger than the 95F but I haven’t actually heard that Paradigm. These PSA speakers are geared towards HT and they definitely require a subwoofer, which is how they were designed.
These speakers are incredible! If movies are your main reason for watching, and you can afford/fit these speakers, just buy them. Only other speakers beyond these would be JTR but they are in a whole different league $$$$ wise. IMO you can’t do better than PSA speakers for movies. IMO the selling point of these speakers is their efficiency and that should be stressed. You do not need a separate amplifier to power these speakers to reference level. Any mid level AVR will be sufficient enough. The sound is crystal clear and effortless at reference level. You will listen to things louder than you ever did before because these speakers are so clear with no distortion at reference level.
You are correct, these speakers are just amazing. I just wished PSA mad 8” versions, for folks like me with smaller rooms. Yes, these are crazy efficient and don’t really require an external amp but from most of what I’ve read on the forums, many people hook these babies up to dedicated amps but I agree, not necessary in most rooms. Pair these with a pair of killer subs and you’d have a system that would beat 98% of systems out in the wild. These were excellent sounding, I was sad to see them go:/
Yeah, bookshelf probably isn’t the right word for these monsters. Haha Even my LSiM 703 are considered large bookshelf speakers and these are literally, 5 - 6x larger😳
What a great find! Perfect example of being able to acquire a high quality speaker, in superb condition, hard to find on the used market, at a substantial discount. The size and looks won't work for most, so a great comparison would be the Arendal 1723S speakers. Much nicer looking, smaller and same MSRP. They are coming to the U.S soon so you should definitely hit them up for sales rep opportunity. I'm searching high and low for decent used price on them.
This was definitely one of the better deals I’ve gotten. Just trying to show folks out there that these types of deals do pop up, you just have to be very quick when they do. I REALLY want to get my hands on some Arendal speakers one day. Hopefully they see my videos and reach out to me. Haha! Wishful thinking:) I might just reach out to them, thanks for the idea! I’ve really been impressed with their offerings!
I was also very excited, when I saw these pop up. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the correct room for these beasts. The good news is that a fellow audio buddy just bought them off me, so I’ll still have visitation rights. Haha!
How are the horns? I'm not a horn fan they are usually hard on my ears and looking at the specs they seem to have an aggressive signature but people have nothing but good things to say. 70hz is up there so if I do get them I'm happy to already own dual PB-3000 to help with the lack of bass these have. 10" drivers is huge but they are sealed and that probably kills all the bass. If you get around to my comment let me know if they have an aggressive tweeter. Thanks
I don't know what you did within 2 years for speakers, but PSA has updated the drivers in their 10" and 12" woofer speakers to B&C models (the same Italian driver brand that JTR often uses). From reports, the B&C tweeters seem to have a much smoother treble reproduction for being high efficiency compression drivers used in horns and they are considered of a higher caliber. These are sealed so you get a much tighter, quicker, and less "flabby" response and the 10 or 12" woofers are able to reproduce what frequencies they can with more SPL authority due to surface mass and greater excursion. The subs take up the lower end and together this system can hit reference with less breakup than some all in one, ported tower designs for less money. The fact that your subs, taking over the low mid to low bass frequencies that these monitors cannot do, are then free to move about the room for the best bass response depending on best placement practices. Bass frequencies often do not reproduce the best where the rest of the speaker is located. Monitor/sub combos are kind of like modular and more flexible designs. That's why cinema speakers don't normally dip low, need subs, and are normally also monitor designs.
I’m excited for you! These are fantastic speakers, absolute flame throwers. I knew the measurements going in but I was still shocked by the size. I hope you enjoy them!
@@blazermdxi know what you mean i took the tape measure out for my current setup to see how they would fit and let’s just say i need to move some things lol
@@arielrodriguez6980 I love them so far best speakers I’ve had to date very clear and dynamic they have a huge soundstage to them anything thrown at them it does with ease
I watched the movie the other day for the second time and I agree really underrated it. It gave all speakers a workout. Awesome find btw! #offerupking lol
Yeah, this was one of the better deals I’ve ever gotten. Sad to see them go but I just don’t have a need for speakers like these currently. Oblivion is just a great movie all around, especially the visual and sound effects. It’s one of the few movies I have wanted to watch more than once:)
Oh trust me, I almost kept these babies. Ultimately, I decided to sell them due to their size. They are just too large for any achievable dedicated theater that I will be able to afford. After selling them, I regretted it. I decided to round out my Klipsch KL-650-THX set instead. So not all I’d lost. Haha
@@blazermdx I set up my 210T's and 210c and I love the sound. I love how clear they are and how dynamic they are. Watching movies I feel I am surrounded from the sides and ceiling speakers but it is coming from the LCR. They really are designed to play loud. Example at a -30 on the master volume it is barely audible unlike my Primes, but when you turn the 210's up closer to reference the magic happens :) Also the wife said boy those speakers are huge when she came home. I was like yes but they sound awesome. She is ok with them and that is a plus lol.
They are very detailed speakers, as in they picked up on things I hadn’t heard before in songs that I’m very familiar with. They also have a very large soundstage. They aren’t designed to go down low or anything, ~ 70hz, so you would need a sub for 2-channel and home theater. Just very revealing is how I’d describe the music performance. Thanks you for taking the time to comment, I truly appreciate it!
Hmm. That’s a tough one. I’ve owned some pretty awesome Klipsch speakers over the years but none of them seemed to sound as “real life” as these PSA’s. That even includes my beloved KL-650’s. Unfortunately, until I can afford to buy a house with a larger, dedicated theater room, the speakers that I’m testing have a fairly easy life in my possession. Goals:) Thanks again for the support, my man!
Yeah, they aren’t cheap, that’s for sure! If you were building a theater-like room, you’d be hard pressed to beat these for the money though. That performance comes with one pretty large shortcoming, at least for me, the size! They are very large. What year Corvette? I’m a bit of a auto but also:)
Yeah, this was one of the more remarkable deals I’ve ever gotten. If you’re flexible on the brand of speakers and you are patient, you might be surprised at the deals you’ll come across. Like the Triad speakers I bought and reviewed. Good luck with your search, my friend!
Gigantic bookshelf speakers! Rolled off below 20khz....... odd it seems mostly focused on low frequency. Looks all business no prettiness.....900 plus retail should NOT roll off below 20khz.......??? Bass extension is good though I’m sure. Looks more suited to r&b then classic rock. What kind of tweeter exactly is that? Looks like compression but not hit 20khz is so weird..... interesting though.👍
I love this brand, Tom V is the original "V" from SVS. >> holy crap that they're huge! love them. financially and morally impossible for me to get in Canada due to our limp wristed dollar, and ludicrous freight and taxes at the border. But my gosh these seem wonderful.
Awesome! The person that bought these off me has since switched to JBL and I have been considering buying them back. Haha The problem is that they are just too large for me to be swapping them in and out, when I’m testing out other speakers. Totally awesome speakers though. You have excellent taste in speakers, my friend!
@@blazermdx if you could only predict your future with more space... It'd be good to get them. But I think you've said that's not too likely in the short term.
@@blazermdx Do you know which JBLs they switched to? I'm curious on these PSAs if people keep them longer term or find aspects of them that aren't as suited to day to day listenig and TV/Home theater. Wish I could get a deal like you had becuase at that price I could afford to at least try them out
They are most definitely HT speakers. And they are killer HT speakers! You just need a beefy HT sub, that can keep up with them. Which most people shopping for speakers like these, plan on. I highly recommend them, especially if you have a larger room:)
@Average Guy Hi-Fi my room is 14x24 and right now I have 2 pc2000 and 2 pc13 ultras this year I will upgrade my bed layer next year its the subs thinking about some psa 18s
I’m in the camp of people that believe a good speaker is good for movies and music. These would sound great for music but they REQUIRE a subwoofer, with proper integration. If you aren’t interested in adding a sub, the Tekton Pendragons would be a better choice.
@@waldoyew4247 I’ve never heard any Tekton subs, so I’m not really sure. Knowing how good the Tekton speaker lineup is, I bet that sub is also pretty capable. I really do like the looks of it. PSA makes some of the most capable subs on the planet so you could also look into some of their designs. Picking the right sub for your listening habits and the size of your room is very important. Your best bet is to research, research. I’d also contact PSA and Tekton, to see what they recommend. Both companies have great customer service.
Yeah, they sold before I could even make the ads. Check out PSA’s website, the last I heard, they had a really good sale going. Good luck with your search, they are awesome!
Hi Dustin, If you are planning on selling these I’ll buy them. Let me know I’m ready to pay with PayPal. Give me the price and I’ll cover the shipping of course.😀👍🏻🇺🇸 Kind regards, Eric
Hello Eric! I was planning on hanging on to them but I just don’t have the space. Unfortunately, someone is buying them from me tomorrow. I’m sure I’m going to regret selling them but if I’ve learned anything doing this, something else will be right around the corner:) Thanks for taking the time to comment, my friend!
These over the M&K S-150 in bigger rooms. In smaller rooms, I’d probably lean towards the S-150’s. Both speakers are just fantastic but the size difference is massive so the PSA can get louder, easier, than the M&K. It really comes down to your needs more than anything. Both will make you smile ear to ear with capable and properly setup subwoofers:)
10’s are very hard to come by. Haha I just loved these speakers, and if I had a larger room, I would have kept them. Currently, I give these KEF a 10 but I’m sure I’ll find something that I’d rank an 11, tomorrow. It never ends:)
@@blazermdx I appreciate the input. Which Kef models? I am looking at the lc50 meta (much smaller I realize) but they receive incredible reviews. Regarding PSA, it is incredibly hard to find hard testing data on these things. They are a bit of a mystery as most reviewers say “they are loud”. Your review was much more articulate than most. On the forums people gush over them but rarely remark on normal daily driving and listening. I am afraid of them being to harsh with some program materiel. One you tube review indicated they are best for home theater, but he would never use them for music only as they were too bright for his ears. At any rate let me know your favorite kef model, I value your opinion. I may order these and simply use their generous return policy if it does not work out.
I keep hearing that about other 2nd hand markets. I had no clue I was lucky, until starting this channel. I live in the Seattle area, the tech nerds love audio and they move around a bunch. I guess these two things has provided me with a better than average 2nd hand market. I hope you score some good deals soon, my friend! I
I know this is nothing about the speaker its self but holy smokes your about as tall as I am I am 6' tall exactly rough around there I am close to touching my ceiling they are 8' tall ceilings If I go another 2" I could touch them with my hands.
They definitely won’t win and beauty pageants, that’s for sure! I would imagine 90%+ of the folks that buy these beasts, are putting them in a dark, dedicated theater and even behind acoustically transparent screens. I just loved them but you’re correct, not the prettiest speakers for living room systems like mine. They will peel paint off your walls, if asked though. Haha I tried s
