I have the CMT-340 SE LCR with the HTM-200 SE surrounds. I’m smitten every time I listen. These speakers are the Corvette of the speaker world. Supercar performance at a luxury car price. If you haven’t listen to these, then do so.
Dave at Ascend is great. I have 8 x htm 200se for surround and atmos speakers in my livingroom HT. Dual 4" woofers in such a small speaker make for surprisingly big sound. Highly recommended.
Thank you for sharing your Ascend experience with us! I really hope this brand keeps getting bigger and bigger. Great sounding speakers, great customer service and fantastic prices. Every time I see someone post photos of their Ascend Acoustics speakers, I always think “that’s a smart choice”. Thanks again, my friend!
I just got a pair of CMB-170. Awesome speakers! I put them on a pair of Canary CA-300 300B tube mono blocks and sounded really really good as the amp out classed the speakers by about 10X in pricing. But these speakers performed!
10:00 uhh WHAT. Jesus Christ I can fucking hear the articulation and airiness from these speakers as soon as you started playing them. And OVER RU-vid. Dear lord if these things sound this good over a video, I have to try them out. Wow. I’m actually impressed.
I ended up trimming the beard way back after this video. I couldn’t handle the hair getting in my mouth. Haha Thanks again my friend. Keep up the great work, yourself!
Just FYI the CMT 340s are $498 per pair and center is $298. CBM-170s regularly $298 per pair, B-stock $248. They're great speakers but MSRP estimate is way off.
Are these the original MSRP’s? I couldn’t locate the original MSRP so I used the SE prices and took a little off. The MSRP of the 340 SE mains is $568. The sale price of the 340 SE is $498. There’s a difference between MSRP and sale prices. “Way off” isn’t exactly correct though as my prices are about 10% higher. It’s hard to find exactly lathe correct information, when reviewing speakers that are 10+ years. Thanks for the info!
@@blazermdx The 340 SE is $568 for a pair. The 340 SE center is $298. The 170 SE is $348 for a pair. The pedestal stands are $180 for the pair. If you order them all together on Ascend's website, there are package discounts applied for the both the speakers and the stands for a combined $136 in savings, bringing the grand total to $1,258
Keep up the good work! This channel is a must for anyone looking at savings!!!! Appreciate the work. Have you ever listened to Premier Acoustic stuff? Heard a pair the other day and was rather impressed.
Thanks for the compliment! Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with Premier Acoustics. I’ve read great things about a couple of their subwoofers though. I just added Premier Acoustics to my search notifications so I’m sure I’ll come across some of their products soon. Thanks for the recommendation!
I’ve been interested in Ascend acoustic speakers for a couple of years now. I first heard about them on the AV rant podcast. Rob, one of the cohosts, has the Sierras in his home theater and love them. I think my next home theater speakers might actually be from ascend! Probably not the Sierra line as they are pretty pricey but maybe the newer version of the speakers in your video.
Yeah the Sierras look fantastic, I’m definitely in the market, if they pop up at a price I can get back out of them. I bet you would absolutely love the CMT-340 SE’s, since they are even an improved version of these. The price/performance ratio is very high, with Ascend Acoustics. Money well spent IMO. Cheers, my friend!
@@blazermdx I almost got the HTM-200 SE's for my bedroom, but they were just a bit too big for my space. Still might purchase them for my desktop setup someday tho. I ended up going with the Aperion Intimus 4 speakers in my bedroom and I am loving them! You can't beat the sound quality for their size and the price I paid. Too bad Aperion doesn't sell them anymore!
I had a RP-450C with some RP-160M’s a few years back. You’re correct, the 450 is a great center channel! That’s a great price for that speaker, great work!
Yeah, I was pretty surprised that they sat for a few days, when I listed them. Luckily, someone’s driving about 80 miles to come pick up this set this Friday. He is supper excited, as I would be. On to the next, my friend!
@@blazermdx Welp, I have a road trip ahead of me; I scored some CMT-340’s. Do you still have the Ascend Acoustic pedestal stands? If so, wanna sell them? 😉
@@Weeble_Warbles Sorry friend, the set sold yesterday. The good news is that they are available to be ordered fairly cheaply, directly from Ascend Acoustics. Shoot them a message on FB, they are quick to reply.
Amazing speakers been enjoying them for years along with my vtf-15h hsu sub. Would love to hear your thoughts on the ascend acoustics sierra nrt towers wih the horizon center. I also own those but can't find many reviews on them. Thanks for the great reviews!
Many people love listening to music using their 5 + channel systems, so I’m with you there. These are excellent speakers and can produce excellent sound for movies and music. Truly well rounded speakers. What did you replace the Ascend speakers with?
I recommend headphones when listening to speaker demos on RU-vid. I do think you can hear some of the qualities of whatever speakers are being recorded. You may need a better microphone as I'm hearing compressed dynamics.
I know that I’m leaving some audio performance on the table, when it comes to the sound in my videos. I am definitely hoping to remedy that though. Do you happen to have any microphone recommendations? I’m just using my iPhone and a $19 lapel microphone but I am definitely willing to invest in something nicer, if it improves the quality of my videos. Thanks for stopping by and for the suggestion, I truly appreciate it!
@@blazermdx Now you've opened up the whole daunting field of audio engineering. Ain't nothing like a pair of Neumann U87's, a Neve console, maybe a classic Sony 24 track 2in machine? A fine stereo mike like Audio-Technica AT2022 might be nice but you'd need to record it's feed to something, probably a laptop. A simple solution might be the TASCAM DR-07X Stereo Handheld Recorder.
Holy smokes! Thank you very much for all the recommendations on audio equipment. Looks like I have some serious research to do. Haha Thanks again, I truly appreciate it!
Haha! I will try to spin the camera around, to show the disaster that surrounds me in the little room I share the specs in but I’ll warn you, it’s pretty embarrassing. Haha
I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for those beauties. I’ve always loved the looks and the depth of the cabinets but my rooms have always been too small to give them a try. Hopefully this catches someone’s attention, that has a lead on a pair. Stranger things have happened!
@@blazermdx yes please my friend i need a great pair of sounding SQ speakers to go with the sub i just bought the SVS PB16ultra. Replaced my BIC F12. trying to upgrade my sound stage. lol
@@blazermdx it’s crazy because I only seen that Polk subwoofer one time and never again after that so definitely looking forward to that review and lol thank you when it comes down to subwoofers I’m petty Good at knowing what it is. And that lil 8 inch is a beast there’s most 8inch subs that won’t even touch the veldoyen it’s crazy..
You should do music sound testing like jazz ,1940s type music female vocalist,, the movie sound produced dosent sound like anything special, I have heard way cheaper speakers put out sound thats nearly identical to these speakers your reviewing,, just my opinion & suggestion.
Yeah, I checked first, to make sure the vibrations wouldn’t hurt my TV. I ordered some super soft, large, isolation rubber feet to go on the Dynamo subs and that seemed to help a ton. I’m pretty peculiar about my equipment and I’m totally happy with the sound and not worried about vibrations causing any issues. You’re correct though, I was a bit concerned at first though!
like your enthusiasm. did u ever come across magnat cinema ultra 100? nobody seems to have reviewed these on yt although they have been on the market for a few yrs.
Hey, thanks for the compliment! It’s pretty hard to stump me, when it comes to speakers but I have zero experience with any Magnat speakers. I’m reading up on them now, looks like they make some nice quality speakers. I will keep my eyes peeled for Magnat speakers but Im at the mercy of my used market so it might be a little while:/ Thank you for stopping by, I truly appreciate it!
Hey, over 3000 subscribers and every day more and more. I follow you on Instagram. I hope one day you Show there a picture of your best price deals or whatever.
Thanks! I need to put more effort into Instagram. As you see, I’m pretty inactive there:/ That’s a great idea, to put all the scores there though! I was also thinking about posting teaser photos of equipment I have for upcoming reviews. Thank you for the idea and for stopping by!
Good eye! Those are Definitive Technology Supercube II’s but they weren’t hooked up for the video. I was just running the speakers and the dual Dynamo subs. Again, good eye my friend!
I have an opportunity to get my hands on Von Schweikert VR-2 Towers and LCR-15 Center in Cherry finish for $700. I don't know the brand but they are beautifully designed. Is that a great deal?
Going off the models, that appears to be a very good deal. The MSRP on the towers was $2,499 alone so if they are in good shape and are fully functional, I say go for it! Unfortunately, I have zero experience with Von Schweikert speakers so I can’t speak on how they sound. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
My man marketplaces, that I usually buy and sell on are FB, Craigslist and OfferUp. In this area, Seattle, stuff that is listed at a reasonable price, doesn’t last long at all. Where do you live?
Sorry, these were sold shortly after this video came out. Be sure to set up a notification on your different used websites, so you know when Ascend speakers are posted. Good luck with your search!
