We finally got our hands on a "spiker" from PSA! This interesting rifle fills the void left by the increasingly rare Norinco AKs of the 80s. Does the PSA rifle live up to the original?
In China, the type 56 is ANY 7.62x39 weapon adopted in 1956. The RPD is a type 56, the SKS is a type 56, as is the AK. I have never seen a stamped receiver, chinese AK in Vietnam between the years of US involvement 1964-1973ish. Every one has always been on a milled receiver, so I wouldnt consider it a "Vietnam gun seen by our troops" at all. There were stamped receiver AK's from Romania and Hungary, but never China. Of course there were plenty of milled guns with underfolder bayonets. Great video, I do find it interesting how the US has a very difficult time making cleaning rods.
Thanks for the info! I gladly defer to your knowledge on the history of the ak. I wish that PSA had a milled variant but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I appreciate what they are doing all the same though. Cool to hear from you, I enjoy many of your videos on the special forces of Vietnam and their gear
Thank you for making this video! I've been looking for more reviews on the PSA spiker and I really liked your last PSA AK video. I also really appreciate that you showed what mags would/should be compatible with it.
@@triplefshooting I don't have a whole lot in the way of money but now that I have some wiggle room, i'm looking to buy an AK. Years of RS2 Vietnam makes me appreciate the look of the rifle haha
My guess is that the Cleaning rod, Buttplate and the spring you need to place in the buttstock to push the cleaning kit out would be extra costs to make you would have to tool up for these specific parts that are now on the market still ready surplus items to purchase. My issue is that someday these parts will dry up and eventually they will need to tool up for this.
That's most likely the case. I don't know if any of their other rifles are coming in with the trapdoor buttplate, but I doubt it. So far I love what PSA is doing as a company. They're filling some serious voids in the market and just seem to keep chugging along with interesting products. Hopefully they keep up the good work and can make those surplus parts too as they dry up
WBP laminated stocks from Poland atill have the trapdoor, and they're made new. So the bits are still being produced. Nice video by the way, thanks for sharing.
@7:50 so sad to see yours with such a loose fit for your spike, I got a PSA Spiker too, but mine is pretty snugged, I think it's a quality control issue.
@@triplefshootingI’ve seen on other RU-vid videos where they grind the V notch out on the lower hand guard to make the bayonet lockup on the bayonet lug.
Its the center support pin you need to file just a little and all mags will fit as for the bayonet its the handguard PSA who ever they contract with makes them out of spec they are thinner than a standard comblock type three lower handguard. you could get one a hard wood lower mill out the grove or you could get a Chicom lower that will fix the lose fit issue.
Thanks for the information. I have looked for the handguards before and was slapped in the face with how hard they were to find. Probably worth having one made
the hand guards are not out of spec it’s the retainer. They are too thick compared to the original even Chinese wood sits the same. PSA does not ship them with a cleaning rod because you have to file underneath the gas block to make one even fit. My PSA spiker has Chinese wood, it’s a decent rifle but PSA could of done better. Cerakote wasn’t a need they could of done a good blueing
Hi Everyone, I have Norinco's and dont have the PSA but the specs of the gun, chrome lined, hammer forged carrier in stainless, 1.5 reciever, threaded, all that GOOD stuff I would say it's a Dang Good Gun.
I had the same problem with some of the newer xtech mags in my arsenal ak. Not really PSAs fault, just helps knowing that ak mags are far from standardized
The locking section is ramped so that it can be pressed into place. Stowing it back into the handguard requires pulling the sleeve forward to unlock it.
I heard that these rifles had some teething issues with the bayonet hitting the handguard retainer; was that not an issue for you whenever you tested this one? Thanks!
The gun I reviewed didn't have an issue with the handguard retainer, but it was a tad loose fitting to the handguard itself. It didn't effect the function much at all, but was kind of annoying
Hello, dear master; I am a flying partridge, woodcock, quail, turtledove, big wild pigeon and flighted rabbit hunter. I want to buy a second hand used classic double shotgun. There are many rifle brands. I can't decide which brand of rifle to buy. Can you tell me the brand of a light, high-quality classic shotgun that does not use a double trigger, has a good shot, does not use cartridges, and shoots all kinds of pellets with efficiency? Which brand of double rifle do you recommend to buy? As an experienced gunsmith, what is your suggestion for me? Thank you.
I appreciate your kind words. I'm not terribly experienced in black powder shotguns, but I believe Pedersoli makes a very nice double barrel. The only problem for you is that it uses a double trigger setup. They are also expensive.
i heard they dont use swell rivets and then they dont dimple them and they walk lose after a few thousand rounds at best. They can spend slightly more money to do it correct and dont. Like just charge us to make it right and you'll have a damn good AK. Its not like they couldn't possibly know this info. Theres so much GD info on these guns to make it right its not acceptable. Everyone needs to tell PSA to get their guns right before making another line of guns. Its not acceptable at this point. I also hear that their QC and customer sucks
@@triplefshooting two issues with PSA rivets. They are not dimpling the receiver into the trunnions and they are not using countersunk or swell neck rivets. This is not good. The gun is held together by rivets and by not riveting them correctly, they have created a gun that will eventually fail.
@@m26_lemon_grenade55watch klayco47 for the meltdown on this... this is nothing. It goes and doesn't stop till its on fire.. he shoots and it functions on 🔥
@@TheGMan. I have demil (cut parts from a chopped receiver) on a Norinco before. They are some of the best rivets I've ever seen. So yes.....the original Norinco were riveted correctly
