This is a little mod I came up with after getting frustrated with the PSPs poor excuse for a thumbstick (otherwise known as the Sliding Disc of Death!)
As far as I can tell, this is the first time an actual Nintendo Switch thumbstick has been installed in a PSP!
There are some mods out there that use the Switch thumbstick's top with the PSPs original thumbstick mechanism, but this behaves the same as the PSPs sliding disc thumbstick, as opposed to the 3D rocking that you get with a real Switch stick like my mod.

Tried to clean my joystick last night due to being tired of it feeling like it was grinding the stick when moving it and having drift issues. I ended up breaking it more as I tried to do too much in taking it apart including inner spring, which messed up that spring. But this video makes me want to try using one of the new Gulikit Switch joy-con replacement thumbsticks in it for 'science'. They have been sitting at my house for months while I wait for my switch lite thumbstick to get bad enough to justify replacing it.

Do you have a pinout or diagram of the thumbsticks? So we know what pin goes where or is it 1:1 (for lack of better wording)?

Yeah but the vita, on the fat one its al glass so you cant modify without breaking al the glass and in the slim there isnt that much space for it

I would guess that 4 points are for up down left and right and the 5th point is for the stick button ?

NICE MOD BUT YOU SHOULD OF USED THE PS VITA THUMBSTICKS BEING THEY ARE A BIT SMALLER ALSO YOU COULD PROBABLY UPDATE THIS MOD WITH A GULLI KIT THUMB STICK THAT HAS HALL EFFECT SENSORS AND HAS A REMOVABLE/REPLACEABLE THUMB STICK WHICH WOULD MAKE INSTALLING IT A BIT EASIER THEN MAKING A GIANT HOLE IN YOUR PSP FACEPLATE

Y'know you could use the terrible and self-destructing original Switch analog stick, OR you can use a third party hall effect one. You know, the thing Nintendo didn't bother doing despite it being only pennies more to produce?

1 of the pins likely just the output for the click/pressing in the stick, which isn't needed on the PSP

What I've used that lets me use my Nintendo switch grips on my PS Vita is I had this PS Vita grip covers for the analogs and they're just really kind of small then I put my Nintendo switch grips over the PS Vita grips and they work really good

Electrically, absolutely. However I'm unsure whether there's enough space inside the 3k to house the switch stick. I'd like to think so though! I'll try it on a 3K some day :)
