Today we reviewed Sony's first handheld console, the Playstation Portable that's almost 15 years old. And our answer is yes; it's still worth having/playing!
The other advantage of the PSP is it still works after 14 years. Your smartphone won't last anywhere near as long. The performance of the PSP doesn't decrease overtime like your phone either, plus it uses user replaceable batteries and parts are easy to find. Your phone doesn't have that either. I think the triggers on the PSP feel solid for a device like this. I have never heard of someone breaking them either.
I never realised as a kid how blessed I was until I saw my friends working there ass's off for stuff I already own that my parents bought me I never even asked my parents for a PSP because they were expensive but my parents bought it for me anyways because they saw me looking at it at Walmart I loved that thing and had it for years and someone stole it when I was 17 I had my PSP since I was 9 years old.
With custom firmware and emulators it's still the best handheld console. Best thing a retro gamer can have! DON'T TRY TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROMS IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO, YOU MAY BRICK THE PSP! Which one you should buy? 1000 Series (Bulletproof, Much heavier than the others(280gr), 32MB RAM*) 2000 Series (Brighter screen(actually it has the best screen), light weight(189gr), you can connect to tv, 64MB RAM*) 3000 Series (Brighter screen but has scanlines, light weight(189gr), internal mic, you can connect to tv, 64MB RAM*) PSP GO (Controller sucks, light weight(158gr), 16GB Internal Storage, 64MB RAM*, Non removable battery!**) PSP Street A.K.A E1000 series (NO Wi-Fi!, UMD only, Non Removable battery!**, 223gr) * Practically RAM increase doesn't make a significant difference ** Batteries die after 4 years! Avoid buying PSP GO and PSP Street(E1000) and stick with 1000, 2000 or 3000 series. My favorite is 1000 series because of it's weight and reliability.
Wulfhir oh yeah. For sure. Even if you don’t want custom firmware you can still use the store, even though it was shut down a few years ago. I found a loophole ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zg05ln2g_0k.html And even without custom firmware you can still mod the psp with awesome things. One is the cyanogenmod which allows you to root your psp and you can have an android theme on your psp. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--hggzlWFNZU.html
@@codo8584 The Vita interface was overhauled to appeal to younger players (competing with Nintendo), and also on the belief that a touchscreen not only required a different paradigm but was necessary to lure people accustomed to gaming on smartphones. With the PS4, I think the idea was piling on features, and rejecting the simplicity of the XMB as having been driven by hardware limitations (especially low RAM) that the PS4 lacked.
Great video. I've own the PSP 3000 model for almost a decade and it works just as good as the day I bought it... I definitely got more hours racked up on this, than I ever probably will with the PS Vita.
**Proud owner of an original 8 year old PSP with no/dead battery (but still working via charging) here** Honestly can you really find PSP batteries these days?
When I go to connect to internet, it says "The access point was not detected. The signal of the access point may be weak or the SSID you entered may not be correct" I've trying everything I could do and it just won't work. Can anyone help me?
The PSP 1000 had 32MB of RAM and the other models have 64, but 32 of this is reserved for UMD cache. Since I don't use any UMDs in my PSP is there any way to utilise the extra RAM? Or maybe it's only reserved for when you're running games/movies from a UMD disk?
I recently bought one... its amazing!!! I can play a lot of games and the battery holds pretty well ( not like my smarth phone), love this console, the simple fact that I can play with a proper game controll makes it worth it. I´ve suscribe to channel by the way
I love the glossy finish. I love the nub, and I have never noticed any scan-lines while playing. My PSP still works like a dream and I often play my favorite games on it. I also love the black piano finish. I have the 'fat' PSP. By the way, the thing with the original PSP [the piano black fat one which I have] is that they are built like a bloody tank. I have accidentally dropped mine so many times in the past, yet it still works like a dream, nothing cracked, nothing broken.
I play my psp 3000 all the time. Esp when Im out and have to wait around for whatever reason or just too tired to play PS4. Im thinking of getting a ps vita, does it run psp games?
Please Can anyone tell me from where can I buy Jeanne d'arc? I've checked a couple of sites but I want the opinion of someone who has more knowledge in this "domain" I live in Europe
Is it like the game systems? Like how u can play a ps 1 game on a ps2 system ?Like the higher game system u go the lower game system game you can play on it?
Had a psp since launch, I really like the darn thing. Take it when I travel. And love a lot of the titles. Really nice video, keep spreading the word. Though not too much, don't want the games to rocket up in price. And don't forget it is region free
I remember when I was like 7 years old I got a PSP (Street E1004) on christmas and I was so happy. I spent so much time on playing Crash Tag Racing and Jak and Daxter. I gotta come back to this console!
This video it's so correct! I haven't found a much better console than the old Sony PSP. I own 4 functional PSP a two broke ones for pieces. Great video!
My disk drive is broken so can I put something in there like an expanded battery or a wireless adapter. I'm not allowed to touch change the settings on the wifi router so I can't connect my PSP to the internet, but if someone made a wifi router that goes in the USB port and the disc Bay, Not only would you get better internet but it would give you an excuse to buy the cheaper PSP without internet.
I had a PSP and a PS Vita before and I used it for playing DBZ and other cool games that I like and,all your stuff u said is actually true so,back to playing my PS Vita ;)
It was my first game console and I still have it ( now I'm considering to buy another one to play MGS peace walker with my brother through Lan play). PS: at the time I preferred the NDS since Lan party's were much easier when only 1 game cartridge was required; and everyone had a DS back in the day
Guys I have a brand new white psp go (pearl white only) sold in my town and its the ONLY brand new piece sold in my town. It's sold for like 191$ but I dunno people say that the it sucks. Should I buy the go or stick with the 2000/3000??
Got one yeasterday for 20€ just waiting for the micro SD memory card to pro duo adaptor to put some micro as cards on it. Memory stick pro duos are still expensive as f*** 😉
I just got a PSP3000 modded. Although I had to buy a 64gb microSD, a Pro Duo adapter, and a fresh battery plus replace the headphone jack. It's still worth it. Tons of games on the go. I find it more comfortable than my Vita which gives me cramps after 15 minutes.
Ahmet Uyanık it doesn’t go on the internet. The e1000 looks awesome but it is not the best model to get. I personally like the 3000 because it is the newest besides the e1000 and the go. I don’t like the go because you have to download games and it is too small.
HAHAHAHA people replying that PSP 1000 do not have internet acess... God, did you guys even read what Ahmet wrote? He has clearly bricked his PSP (broken from CFW or other) and can't find any solutions online to fix it WHEN searching the internet, he is not talking about internet on his PSP....
I bought two years ago because I initially just wanted to play smackdown vs raw 2007’s GM mode on the go. Last year I discovered I could play the PS versions of Theme hospital and Theme Park on the PSP which you cannot on the Vita. Plus I’m not allowed to take a camera of any kind into work so this is great for me to play on my break. :-)
Isabel Galli you can buy a psp from ebay, amazon, craigslist, or if you have a movie trading co. Next to you then buy one there. If you have any questions on purchasing a psp or anything that has to do with a psp, please let me know.
im getting a 2ds xl to play monster hunter 4. played mhfu in my psp slim and loved it. tho i only have 1 game left in my psp - final fantasy agito. amazing!!!!
I got both the vita and psp. I must say PSP is a great console and dirt cheap. Easy to hack too, I have a lot of UMD but the noise the drive makes drives me nuts. Having the PSP hacked and be able to play your owned games without having to carry them is awesome!
I own a PSP1000 and PSP Go and love them for unique reasons. Sony knows build quality better than any other manufacturer. The door mechanism on the UMD Drive in the 1000 series is the best!
I'm thinking about getting a PSP 3000. I haven't had a PSP since 2010. When I get one I'm gonna go crazy and download Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, Warped, Crash Team Racing, Spyro 1, 2 and 3 to my PSP from the PS store.
PSP is awesome. I play it on my phone though because it has a way better screen and I can play the games at a higher resolution with save states. Plus you can use any controller you want and play them on the tv looking real nice. Also the controller I use is small and allows you to charge your phone with it while you play.
You left out one major flaw with buying a PSP in 2018... The battery! Good luck finding a decent replacement for these units. Most batteries are cheaply made and don't hold a charge, or simply just don't last. Some ebay users still have OEM batteries brand new in the package for sale, but you'll be paying for it. I wish I could buy a decent battery that actually works, but the market seems to be flooded with junk. Luckily I still had my early model pandora battery and was able to convert it back to a normal battery and it's been working excellent! 6+ hours whooohoooo!
i have bought my PSP for less than 50 Dollars, exactly R$ 150 on Brazil and still a valuable piece of my collection and wonderful enjoyment to me until today, i ever take him with me for work, Law school and on vacations.
I want to buy one of them for long time. But you encouraged me now and I really want to buy a PSP. But I want to buy the cheapest one as you did. Can you tell me where and when I can buy a PSP console? If you answer my question, I'd be very happy. Thank you Monsieur!
Bozkurt TV you can buy a psp from ebay, amazon, craigslist, or if you have a movie trading co. Next to you then buy one there. If you have any questions on purchasing a psp or anything that has to do with a psp, please let me know.
Try buying it over "letgo" (the smartphone app that lets you see local salles, which are far cheaper than eBay). I bought a second PSP for 32$ and got 3 games, cable + mask with it
I bought psp again because it has a lot of memories! I bought second hand from a person! Luckily it's on 100% great condition and he sells it cheap to me!😃
I traded a beat up 3ds i bought for 30 dollars i was planning on modding it but i came across a psp in mint condition the guy wanted to trade for it so i did it was a great deal on it on my part. I had the 1000 model and I loved it but i was young and didn't take care of my stuff so yeah.... But now that im grown i miss everything i had as a child which is why the psp will forever be one of my favorite consoles and the most affordable today IMO. Btw the psp was already modded with the latest infinity cfw all i did was order the sd card for it and add games it works amazing and looks new so yeah just look around anywhere and you should find a cheap one in fairly decent shape.
I owned a handful of PSP's in my life. Overall, I think the 3000 silver is the best. Here's what I had. 1st: 2000 Black. It was my childhood portable gaming system. It will be missed. 2nd: 3000 Black. Got it in the summer time of 2015. 3rd: PSP Go Black. Gave the 3000 to my brother since his 1000 stopped working. 4th. PSP 3000 Silver. I still have my Go but I needed much more than 16gb of space. (:
