PSP Slim Joystick Analog Stick HOW TO FIX IT 

Just found a PSP at the thrift shop for 8$ it was taken apart. Honestly have no idea what the guy was trying to do. No speakers, the film around the screen is off. Parts here and there. Screws flopping around inside. Didn’t even put it back together. Hell they didn’t even bother putting the shoulder button back on.. what the hell were they doing??? I put what I can back together. The films damaged so I can’t have the dust protection on my screen and some other parts I couldn’t figure out in a single night. Might open it up again and see but from the videos I saw everything was back to the way it was (I havnt seen the back of one so I’m assuming that’s where these go, and the speakers are still gone) other than that I put her back together. I doubt this thing works but hey! I finally can say I own some sort of psp! I can hold it in my hands which is a cool feeling for me. And add it to my collection! So it was a win for me. If it DOES work however. I watched this just incase the analog stick is funky. So thank you :)

Easy to disassemble, hard to reassemble. Expect the spring to dislodge from the head many times. Let the professionals do it instead.

I'm glad I watched this because I was wondering if the 2000 was built the same and its identical on the inside. The only thing Sony changed was the way the analogs contact the mother board. The 1000 analog sticks were very bad out of factory, they end up feeling like crap very catchy feeling like plastic against plastic. My 3000 is super smooth compared to my 1000 so I'm ordering some aftermarket analogs to see if they are smoother. The build quality of the psp1000 is amazing but the screen and analog ruin the experience, if I was into modding I'd love to use parts from the 2000&3000 and put them in the 1000.

Why have to remove so many things? I just remove front panel, remove one analog screw & pull up slowly pull left and clean contact, that's all

I have a weird issue, everytime I move joystick or direction button, it goes into home screen o_0 might be a ribbon problem

I took mine apart to find out the spring inside was bent.

no matter how many times I try to switch the orientation of the gel piece on the joystick facing up of course and no matter how many times I tighten or loosen the joystick screws, my stick at the end of it still controls itself and I can't make it move up without it wanting to left..again I hold up on analog and it goes left...etc :(

*BIG* *PROBLEM* I accidentally unplugged the blue thing for the start, select and +, - and now it doesn't work.. what do I do?

i changed the (whole) housing. it was successful but the analog went totally nuts. its going circles, i even tried removing the analog and still it goes circles on its own. RIP 😢
