They were added because the Japanese version of this game (that was based on the arcade version of the game, that was made for the Disney parks) had covers of songs like the Macarena or Surfing USA that were cut due to licensing issues in the western release of the game and got replaced with them.

There's also another sequel on the Wii, but that game uses bad covers of Disney movies songs and some of the songs of this game.

By the way, Disney Channel Edition is considered to be one of the worst DDR game ever due to the developers (that weren't Konami) messing up the timing of the songs, making them almost impossible to play. Also the unlocking of new songs is almost impossible because it requires to complete certain objectives that are almost impossible to achieve due to the broken timing

​@@-Poka- If I remember well, there's a DDR game for smartphones that was out for a single day because it was broken beyond belief and the guy in charge of the franchise didn't even know it was made or released and another one for Apple TV that used very shitty motion control to play (aka you put your IPhone in the pocket) and had randomized charts

Either that, or everyone tried to create their own anthropomorphic mascot that featured in a platformer. Not to mention the video game crisis back in the 80's. Every decade has its good and bad. And, by the way, licensed games are nothing new; remember E.T.?
