Yes! Y2K was just around the corner. There was optimism in the air. The Internet economy was booming, even though 56k modems were the norm. Then.......yeah fuck 9/11
Except school bullying, that hurt back then, it have hurt so many kids and teens already, and it gonna hurt forever(?), those who will have to face bulling, and also those that have faced bulling.
It literally was…I’m not even kidding… every other brand/pro was banking off of this game, this game really did start a whole new generation of skaters
Them were the days, Tony Hawks, WWF Smackdown, Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider just to name a few. We need to discover time travel so I can go back.
@@almostwins8270 LOL! Why waste money on a piece of shit emulator, with a small selection of games you can do anything with? Playstation emulation is easy. EPSXE runs perfectly fine on a 10 year old PC and after tweaking that emulator, you never go back to the original Playstation or the shitty Mini because once you see the games run in 4K with full Anti-Aliasing, additional Filtering, as well as a nice shader like Asmodean's PSXFX shader suite, you will never accept the disgusting, shitty pixelated mess the Playstation 1 originally displayed.
I’d do anything to go back and spend just one night playing this game with my friends, drinking Surge, eating pizza, and having the time of our lives….
Eternity somewhere Austin Rowland 1 Corinthians 15 KJV 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 3 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 100% know that you have eternal life! 1 John 5 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
I remember just how special/exclusive those bail videos were when you beat the game. No RU-vid or any internet videos back then so it was a huge treat.
Got THPS1 2 3 & 4 from the PS1 for my PS3 so I can still play for nostalgia. However with the new THPS1&2 coming in September I think I will have to invest
All four THPS games, the two THUG games and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland have memorable music; Project 8, Proving Ground, Ride, Shred and Pro Skater 5, not so much!
@@joserivera1301 I agree but is warping the best description? They are almost shaking and scratchy and yet they still feel solid to the eye. Also their is something esoteric about the draw distance.
Dude as someone who's family became unstable financial around this time I really can't thank Pizza Hut enough for the Demo. We must have worn that disc out. I wish I had more awareness to keep all these things as I got older. I hate my grown up self
Such a beatiful game if you consider the fact that he was realesed 23 years ago. It brings me memories of the time i use to play it with my sister after school, i think it was 2006 or 2007. Time flies
i has an n64 & played the shit out of this. eventually got a ps2 (or maybe 3, i can't remember) & thps4. amazing memories. couldn't sleep tonight & thought i'd have a nostalgia trip instead. mission accomplished. 🤍
This looks bad now but was so fun when it was released. THPS 1, 2, 3, 4 + THU 1 & 2 were classic, but after those, the series started going downhill but I think what really hurt skate games was the obsession over realism that took over by the mid to late 00s. Maybe if you're a serious street skater, those realistic games are better but for most people, the appeal of THPS was all the unrealistic stuff you could pull off while kind of imagining that was you doing those things. THPS is styled like arcade games, which are meant to be fun right away and not overly complicated. The more realistic skate games (Skate in particular, but now there will be Skate XL and Session as well) are more like simulation games, trying to be as realistic as possible within the limits of a game console.
My friend and I JUST had this conversation. I remember when the SKATE games out the selling point was the realism. While people stated the games had some fun factor it didn't make nearly as much noise. The realism just wasn't appealing. Skating games just don't need realism, it doesn't fit. THPS American Wasteland was a warning sign although I did complete it and found okay...I lost interest with the series afterward and Skating games just sort of lost a place in gaming afterward over the years
I was 6 years old and got my first video game system Christmas 2005. It was a silver ps2 I remember I got smack down vs raw 2006 and a stack of other ps1 games but this was one specific game that I had got that will always have a place in my heart not to mention I had already played this game before I got it.
"So here i am, doin everything i can. Holdin on to what i am, pretendin im supermaaaan!" God i loved whenever that song hit. Got my highest scores during that song lol. Thank you goldfinger and tony hawk for the memories
Back in the day, EVERYONE played this game to death. Either with friends or with yourself, or both. We all got all of the challenges on each level on THPS 1 and 2. I preferred THPS2 on the Dreamcast, the controller was perfect for manuals and reverts
@Ryan Rittenhouse I'm almost 13 years old and I'm in the middle of the game maybe it's just a matter that first I played the second part of the game which was more difficult and the first part is child's play for me
This is my personal favourite of the Tony Hawk game series (I also had the PSX version), after a few months and thousands of tricks and ollies, I managed to get to the final level (San Francisco) before I finally gave up and moved on to Pro Skater 2
Tony Hawk on PSX had everything. Great graphics, superb soundtrack, smooth gameplay. I loved this game. Pure quality. I even play it nowadays with an emulator and to me it has aged quite well. I will also get the Remake soon.
I know that the later games are better, but this first installment still holds a special place in my heart, I used to play the crap out of this for hours on both PS1 and N64, it was amazing. Still relevant to this day!
Omg, I have not played or thought about this game in ages! This brings back so many fond memories of when I would play this with my older brother back in the day. My...the world was so different back then.
Fun Fact. I remember playing the Nintendo 64 Version with my older brother all the time and the music was cut down a lot. Especially Primus - Jerry Was A Racecar Driver. There was literally no lyrics, just the verse and solo instrumental. And the main menu didn't have that baseline. Literally every song was an instrumental or cut down a lot. Gold Finger's "Superman" Only had one or two versus and the choruses. I had no idea the PSX version existed for the longest time. And it's pretty crazy how the intro isn't real life footage too. The intro in the N64 was just in-game clips.
I'm not positive....and I could look it up but I'm not going to.....but I believe that Playstation disks could hold your standard CDR volume of around 650MB. Pretty sure that N64 Cartridges had a MUCH lower capacity....thus leading to things like music and whatnot being cut.
Playing THPS1+2 just hit me right in the nostalgia. The graphics of that game, were what the graphics look like in my head when I played it as a kid. Then again, I’m sure that goes for everyone. We all thought the graphics looked better than they did.
And THPS4 and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland were amazing too! Tony Hawk's Underground 1 and 2 and Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Proving Ground and the Robomodo-developed Tony Hawk games, not so much!
i think they have bails turned off. he just spins when he goes airborne and always lands it no matter what. takes the fun out if you cant bail. then youre just pushing buttons.
Man, the sense of nostalgia is so, so heavy with this video, and in the best, most positive sense. I would’ve been nine or ten years old and still in primary school when I first played it, and I thought it was the best thing ever. The music, the tricks, the gameplay…I still love it as much today as I did back then! Thanks for uploading this! Now, it’s time to listen to ‘Here and Now’ by The Ernies 😎
omg one of the most addicitng games ever created. took hrs and hrs and hrs of my life! please remaster and bring to current console! no dont even remaster it just give it to me the way it was!!!!!
Nostalgia! I wish I can go back in time to play this games with friends and family eating pizza and staying up late in the morning playing. Good old times.
Even though I'm a metalhead, watching this gameplay video along with those punkrock tracks gives me a lot of nostalgia back then when I had this game on my psx
Man i remember playing this game when i was a kid and be like omg, these graphics are amazing! And of course at the time they were really great... great vid! thx for the mmrs!!
everytime the intro song just starts it feels like nostalgia is hitting my head and all those memories are floating through my body. this is actually insane. i so often listened to goldfingers superman, but with the visuals it just hits different aswell.
early 2000s, summer break, spent hours playing football just before the boiling hot summer temperatures around noon, go home for lunch then go over friends house and play THPS1 & 2 or Gran Turismo 1 or 2 for hours, they going either to the pool, play with yugioh cards or just ride around town on bikes....... ohh man do i miss these simple days
Playing this as a kid. Took me weeks to finish the whole game. 😂. No instructions whatsoever. Had to figure out everything through trial and error. Ha..... Those were the times.
The song New girl is a song that will always live in my heart because it makes you feel so happy and reminds of that girl you couldn't wait to tell the bros about. May 16th is another one
