The word creative covers many things including artists that are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum to comedians. However, if you refer exclusively to comedy, there are plethora of comedians that die early. Matthew Perry being the latest. Robin Williams, Victoria Wood, Caroline Aherne, Bill Hicks, Chris Farley, Norm MacDonald. There is an exhaustive list in the comedic industry. Of comedic duos it is the funnier of the two that die first. Eric Morecombe, Ronnie Barker. Graham Chapman of Monty Python died at 48. Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper even died in stage. The stress, the lifestyle, the reason people use comedy as a mechanism in the first place and their childhood background plays a much bigger part. It is much more specific than generalising to cover anyone that is “creative”.
@@kr8882it’s the stress of pretending that kills them . Imagine having events in your life that cause grief , sadness , or despair and have to not only carry a smile while not expressing those feelings but to entertain and be expected to create sincere moments of happiness for others as well. That’s so difficult on the mind and body.
@@radiantmessenger3369 actors have to do that for months and years at a time and still be sincere with their families …It’s a little different not to mention the stress from flashing cameras while driving could you imagine trying to navigate a vehicle with a strobe light going on in your face and all sides of your vehicle.? Or the lack of privacy in your love life or children’s life’s plus stalkers? It’s more stressful for actors than the average person.
Matthew beating up Justin Trudeau when they were kids, Canada’s Prime Minister, our Prime Minister as I’m a Canadian, doesn’t surprise me. Matthew has always been a good person, wanting to help people, and make their lives better. Justin Trudeau’s people, the Canadian Premiers of each province, just had a sit down the other day on tictok airing how they felt about him as their boss and that he needs to go. His wife just left him with the kids, and he is taking Canada from sea to shining sea to the grave, killing us all slowly. What I’m trying to say is sweet, sensitive, troubled Matthew stood up to a full on Bully when he was younger (Trudeau), who is still bullying and killing our people in Canada. Thank you Matthew!
I'm not sure something that happened as an infant - affects your decision to partake in drugs as an adult. Its possibly just a crutch and an additional excuse. I said possibly - don't comment attack me. He seems to have made a multitude of bad decisions as a youth
@@BIBLE-UNBUTCHEREDI’ve heard it alters your brain chemistry, and you become more vulnerable to addiction. Maybe that’s why people are described as having addictive personalities.
@@BIBLE-UNBUTCHERED Have you heard of the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) studies? What happens in our 1st 7 years, when we are in a hypnotic state, has EVERYTHING to do with the “programming” of our subconscious mind and how we live the rest of our lives.
the reason the german footballers died was because of CTE from heading the ball, there has been a massive scottish study done on this because all professionals in scotland going back a hundred years were on a database kept by the SFA the study was able to link deaths caused by brain diseases like dementia etc and it was 60 percent higher in footballers this has led to a ban for youth teams of no heading the ball in training only on match days to reduce the repetitive impacts on the head and brain, there has been a similar study in welsh rugby that found the same leading to rule changes around height of tackles etc
The first thing I did was Google if he had a bad childhood. Yep! A lot of creative people also live very long because they have money to live healthy. A lot of comedians live long lives but I don’t know if we can generalize.
Heroin was heroin back then not a mix of garbage, fentynal etc. Watch a video of the cartel making meth, heroin in bathtubs. Everything but Tylenol is in there
He stated he was never high or drunk on set, but very very very hungover. When I would drink a ton, I’d wake up miserably hungover and for me half drunk. When I was drinking every night, I don’t remember 6 months of my life. I have certain little memories. I don’t drink anymore. All it did was make me more anxious and more depressed. I am not trying to poke holes in your theory at all, as I agree. Also curious if you think these things change anything. I just wanted to mention these things I read in his book. I’ll double check when I get home to make sure I am remembering correctly. He also stated he was 1 year old when his parents divorced. I can’t remember which parent, but he said he felt abandoned. Thank yall for sharing. I really enjoyed this video! Bipolar is def associated with comedians. Hiding tears behind the mask of a clown! I don’t think these things change what yall are proposing. I saw what meds he was own in the autopsy so I have theories.
Matthew Perry has had terrible battles with addiction. I wonder if it’s caught up with him in the form of a heart attack or stroke? Or the other common way is that he’s been sober for a while then done a dose of something (the same amount he’d normally do) and his tolerance is down so it becomes an overdose?
The heart is not only an organ but a muscle …. So it could have easily gotten weak from the absence of chemicals and hormones that may have actually kept it functioning.
I have a friend with bipolar. When she is off her meds she is a ball of fire. Dinner for 12? coming up. She's driven to plan wild trips, gets into problems but forgets why. She talked to me for 20 hours one time, when I was trapped in my house. Check out the story behind Kanye West and Adidas.
Interesting theory on early death of celebrities and bipolar. I had a very similar theory but with ADHD, where one of the most common misdiagnosis, especially for women is bipolar. Same insane potential for creativity whether it be for artistic endeavours or problem solving if they are interested with the addictive personality and potential self medicating if they don’t get a diagnosis before adulthood. Famous or not, I see it everywhere. I don’t think this applies to Matthew though.
I was betting on Matthew having a heart attack, given all of the drug-related health crises he’d had. Deliberate drowning in a hot tub is quite a rarity. Drowning has been ruled out and I’m out of guesses. Matthew Perry was a very talented, unique individual. (The one about our lives being a little less bright.)
I think he had a heart attack and drowned because of that. Plus I’ve always been told not to get in a hot tub after you have exercised and he had just played pickle ball.
My sister died of a sudden heart attack at age 52 and was 7 years sober from alcoholism. I don’t know what medication Matt Perry was taking, but that could’ve contributed to a sudden heart attack.
Matthew's beautiful mother, Suzanne, was a newsreader in Canada and I remember hearing she was romantically involved with Prime Minister Trudeau, the current PM's father.
In my opinion, fame and being a celebrity is the reason people loose it.. You can’t go anywhere or do anything without having a paparazy on you, your pictur on the front page... Alot of pros and cons about being famous I think. But it messes with the brain.😮
I think it was a Jimmie Kimmel interview when he told the punchy story about him and the Canadian PM. He was two years older at the same school in Ottawa and he and his pal did the beating. I think.
Idk...I don't think it's good to say bipolar disorder is fair for him. Plenty of people have ADHD, or ADD. But the biggest thing that came from his book was that he was neglected and felt abandoned growing up. So maybe the lack of discipline that he had or would've liked to have had from his parents is something to think about?
By definition creativity is married to sensitivity. From Tracey Emin’s unmade bed to the polymath Leonardo da Vinci and his visions of the future and the past. Basically this world hurts these type of people and overloads them hence the booze and drug use, pure escape like hitting the off switch.
Excellent book.Reading it now.I had no idea he was so insecure.IHe seems to have been very affected by his mum's busy career and his parents separation. He was really committed to his new clean way of life. I just hope the toxicology doesn't find anything.
They say they haven't read his book...so why comment like you have so much insight before reading it? I'm only 3 mins into this video and already facts have been skewed. He wasn't drinking every day by 14. He 1st got drunk at 14 but did not drink frequently yet. By 18 he was drinking every day. Also his parents divorced when he was a baby (about 1yr). His mom is Canadian. They left America when he was 3mths old. They moved to Ottawa Canada, where matthew grew up. His dad left the family to act in California, when Matt was a baby. He and his mom stayed in Ottawa. So it was not a traumatic move/adjustment as if he relocated as a child, no. It was what he always knew, Ottawa was home for him.
He was in school with Justin Trudeau, eldest son of a majority PM. Striking looks as a teen, black hair and very blue eyes, father was a majority PM for years, he was a member of the elite of Canada. Shockingly conceited, as always, but he did know how to box. St Jean Brebeuf school, Jesuits. Perry may have wanted to punch him and wouldn't be the first, but he said that the fight never took place. Possibly because his other was Pierre Trudeau's press secretary. "But now years later, Perry is walking back his bully beatdown claim. In a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, Perry told the host, "There was a big rumour about us. That I beat [Trudeau] up in grade school". When Colbert asked if he actually fought the pre-teen Prime Minister, Perry responded with a simple, "I don't think so!". Trudeau offered a rematch on twitter - and Perry declined, saying "you have an army at your disposal".
To be honest I wonder about the bipolar thing. To me Matthew sounds to have borderline traits, Adhd with huge anxiety. He probably grew up kind of alone....
Re: Olympic medalists also have a "pass it on" lifestyle, so they do altruistic work for the young kids coaching them & being role models etc working for sports charities etc
What is the photo of the woman behind Raj’s head? 🙄😲🧐 he gives me the creeps and Inever liked him from when he interviewed Princess Di and MJ. He is all for himself and loves to cause controversy IMO
9 minutes in, 2 ads, and he's STILL talking about the lifespans of people with different careers. 🤦🏻🥴 I thought he was going to speak about Matthew Perry. Bye.
Sorry if you win a Medal at the Olympics. I assume They value health and their body and they are influenced by the people they hang out with. Other celebrities do not value the body, they also are influenced by who they hang out with. The study just proves common sense
He had COPD diabetes and cardiovascular disease he shouldn't have been put on ketamine and he went into a hot tub which relaxed him at a quicker rate so he head went under the water. If he wasn't in water and went into the house into he wouldn't have died.
How about Stephen Fry as a guest? I've been podcasting lately, but have looked in the last couple of times. Someone posted that your guest has been discredited. I googled it, and found it to be true. Due diligence?
I think it's more to do with loneliness and a sense of public failure since Matthew Perry didn't have a family. Imagine being seen as a leading 'popular' person in your social group, then having to deal with most of your peers and fans going on to have families and kids as the years roll by.
Deeply disappointed in this podcast. I have enjoyed your previous offerings very much, but as a successful member of a twelve step recovery program for over 44 years, I have to object to your guest's ill-informed and ignorant characterisation of AA as a cult or a substitute, less harmful addiction. Despite his rather condescending compliments about AA's effectiveness, he obviously has no idea what he is talking about . In my opinion, he is a clown. He may very well have caused many people unneeded pain and suffering by offering his completely speculative opinion about AA and the reasons why we find helping others tackle the same deadly problem the key to our own recovery and well-being. I have always steered clear of those "experts" who market themselves as "celebrity" this or that. Here's another shining example of why I do so. I was also particularly offended by your tacit compliance with his statements. You pretty much lost me with this one. Maybe you should attend an AA meeting, read the AA Twelve Steps , or talk to someone you know who is in recovery before you make such ignorant remarks. Deeply offended, Dan K.
He had a trait that I have discovered! Please allow me to educate what we discovered! Many of these groups like Matthew had a trait! I can explain what we do! Mrs Judd and others have tried to figure it out! I took my study to my Doctor and together we discovered a trait! I can help them with self care! When we educate the trait people feel better! We who has this trait are famous and a certain type of famous in groups! In other words not as famous as ones like Robin Williams and Matthew! But we go through a lot of the same situations! Ones who are big famous deal with bigger audiences!

I’m also sick of the gunfire and other toxic violent trends that are shutting our towns down! Or We would have jobs and I would have equipment to generate the information! I’m sick of stupid illiterate weirdo’s controlling all of this! We discovered the trait and our hands are tied! But I have been in media and I don’t loose! You are disgrace in stereotyping “creative” people and generalizing. You saying they are bipolar 😂is a red herring. You need some inner work you seemed bitter towards “creative” people. They are those though connections are famous who are not truly “creative”, but they like to do creative things. There’s is big difference in people who are creative geniuses not many and most are NOT famous bc they do not sign weird contracts or prostitute themselves and their work. Now, sir you failed to mention that Mr. Perry had severe trauma and possibly very injured soul due to his conscientious, empathy, and compassion revealing a higher I.Q. Sad to say such impulsive not well thought things. Sorry but not everyone “ creative” is temperamental, crazy, or bipolar. My theory sir what if Mr. Perry in his youth was sexually abused by some individual in the industry? How that theory would impact any human being?
