everyone appears to hate this camera work but I actually like it. It's what Dawkins always does for interviews with people, and I think it gives the interview a more conversational feel. Personal opinion.
Whats makes this really interesting is that, for those people that are curious about hypnosis and especially the covert style.. this becomes an interesting look at how to model Derren in action, Because those of you will notice what he's doing here and be able to learn some new things, which I think is pretty darn cool isn't it
I confess I´m more interested in the discussion itself than in the furor surrounding camera technique. I liked the way Derren made his point at 32:40, for example.
both cameras are "face tracking". so they are locked onto the eyes, so when the eyes move, the entire camera moves. the psychedelic effect comes because the body doesn't always move when the eyes move. just look to your left and right, see your body doesn't move.

This is youtube trying to reduce camera shake. When you upload a video that youtube thinks is shaking, it offers a "shake-reducer" and that happens when you choose to accept that offer.
The curious part is that I have also seen this discussion without the strange camera effects. It reminds me of a few short films I have seen including 'Waking Life'. Did Derren do this version I wonder?
if im looking for pigs, i'll go to a pig farm.... then I'll make a tv show out of it and spend half an hour explaining to the viewers that 99% of them are pigs.
too many cuts in interviews make me think the editor changed the message. I dnt wanna watch it anymore this would have been a great conversation to listen to.
I agree, the bible is a great work of ancient literature. it doesn't quite hold a candle to plato, joyce's 'ulysses', or basically anything by beckett...but it is definitely an important historical, literary and anthropological document. we need to know where we came from and how much we've progressed since then.

I think it might be some kind of image stabilization software, applied in the worst possible way... sometimes it seems like the image warping follows the faces, or whatever is in focus...
I think that the uploader edited it to try to avoid removal (similar to how uploaders sometimes decide to reverse the image of videos). Not sure if that stuff even works.
It´s interesting to hear Derren totally confuse both religion and faith right at the start. As far as the bible not being/having factual accounts....maybe some archaeologists would be inclined to disagree. Anyway, after watching and enjoying probably all of Derrens escapades, it´s still great to be shown that there isn´t always a perfect balance between wisdom and intellect no matter who we think we are or who others think us to be.
someone tried stabilize the video... and if you watch carefully it looks as though they tried to track via his eyes... or his body... He failed due to the warped video though... its weird but most would rather have a shaky camera rather than warped video... yet many post production people would rather remove the shaky...

Maybe it is because I haven't watch tv for a couple of years, so this video seems different to me, since I am not seeing all of the goofy camera things being done on tv, so to me this is kind of attention grabbing and even oddly appropriate for the context of the discussion.

Proof that God exists: 1. Ezekial 26 accurately predicts the only time a city was ever cast into the sea 2. Thats not camera work, thats the "eliminate shakiness" post processing that youtube does... I can tell you dont even know how a camera works, if you cant tell the difference...

if you have a video that is shaken youtube will ask you i you want them to fiks it and it looks like that is what have happend :) so it is the person that uploadet the video who is to blame ;)
bossscrillaguy No it's not. It's a book of stories inbued by large ammounts of religious simbolism. But it isn't anything like a theorum or a scientific book. Just a bunch of stories to make the common folk laworthy in ancient jerusalem.
who cares if it's post proc? (horrible camera work) the interview should be uploaded without the effects if possible, it really doesn't do it any favours in my opinion too. also nobody cares if you can work a camera
You're using the book to prove that God exists and using God to prove that the book is factual. This is called circular reasoning. It's rather like saying there have been many books written about Harry Potter and Harry Potter is known throughout the world therefore Harry Potter is real and Harry Potter's being real only goes to prove that the Harry Potter books are factual. It is quite simple.
