From Jerma's Planet Coaster stream (11/25/2016): • Jerma985 Full Stream: ... Jerma's Twitch: / jerma985 2ndJerma: / @2ndjerma "65 G ain't even that much."
60G should be an acceleration of about 588 m/s^2. 588 m/s is equivalent to 1315.319mph. 1315.319mph/s. video games. play along at home kids: 1G means an acceleration of 9.8m/s^2, which is the same as 21.92198mph/s or 35.28kph/s! do the math yourself to find out when your favorite coaster separates your head from your shoulders! your results may vary. consult a physiciancist before making a decision
going to the amusement park to have my body instantly liquified e: addendum I am not a physicist. I just like math. I'm a nerd. this is not medical advice etc. etc.
I love how Jerma acts like the "speed" is the problem, he fucking reasons "Oh yeah I went on a roller coaster that was 60 MPH and it was terrifying!" meanwhile some rollercoasters go up to 130 MPH and are fine. It's totally the speed and not the extremely sudden horrific sustained changes in direction. The human body can handle car crashes which go upwards of 100 G's but those forces last for less than a nanosecond. Jerma wants you to sustain 60 G's for up to 5 seconds lmao
jerma getting mad when he has to delete his spine snapping death coaster in favor of putting in one that isn't fatal has similar energy to walt disney spiraling when he realized he wasn't allowed to run a small city state like an amusement park attraction
@@HappyLarry. Disney bought a shit ton of land in Florida back in the 60's and wanted to convert a large portion of it into EPCOT, a self-contained futuristic city that would be ruled by Walt himself. The idea was super impractical, but Walt allegedly kept obsessing over it even as he was in the hospital, dying from lung cancer. The company scrapped the idea after he died, but some of the concepts were preserved and incorporated into the EPCOT theme park in Disney World.
@@gnaat highlights planned for EPCOT worthy of recall: the city center would be under a massive glass or plastic dome that would pose a fire hazard and potentially cook people with a lensing effect, no form of property ownership would exist so that Walt could readily fuck with the technology in your home, no forms of local democracy and a completely self sustaining nuclear reactor Disney actually still has the right to build their own nuclear reactor without any further approvals or oversight from the State of Florida. They would still have to obtain Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing, but that's all they'd need.
EPCOT was the "city of tomorrow", and most of it could have actually worked. However many argue that the whole "companies using the city as a testing ground for new technology" was fucking dumb, and would mean repairmen give you a new fridge every other week because of testing bullshit. It was practical and impractical at the same time due to what Walt wanted to do with it.
Walt's whole deal with EPCOT and his fixation on it as he was dying from awful cancer was also a huge inspiration for Erik Wolpaw when he was writing Cave Johnson and the history of Aperture Science for Portal 2, from what I recall
"It's only 9 G's! Why won't anyone ride this?" Thats literally more G's than the crew of Apollo 16 experienced on re-entry from space... perfectly suitable for children at an amusement park
Jerma acts as if 6Gs is reasonable for a Rollercoaster, meanwhile 5Gs for 2 seconds is more than enough to put an average adult unconscious. A trained Navy or Airforce pilot, and the best of the best of a culmination of human evolution and peak training can push the limit to 9, MAYBE even 10Gs for under 2 seconds. A sustained 6Gs for anywhere past 2 or 3 seconds is definitely fatal. Jermas 15G coaster is basically the equivalent of a concept for a centrifugal euthanasia system for inmates on death row.
Went to this guy's park once, he was rambling to his "banana bros" or something, and the rides were killing people instantly, but for some reason people were still going on them. I can't say I recommend visiting, but the rides were free once you paid an entry fee! Such a great deal!
Only Jerma would be able to design a roller coaster that would instantly blind you by making the all of the blood in your body rush to your head, and then knock you out by making it rush to your feet not even a second later
58:03 jerma saying it only picks up speed at the fourth loop and then the roller coaster going at the speed of sound actually broke me. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks.
only jerma could say “you can do it, i know you can” in a low, gravelly voice, and then not even 2 seconds later say “it’s like when you have a big shit in your stomach-“
I absolutely love how Jerma used the "amount of G that causes death to humans" as his threshold to decide whether or not Slinkey was "good" for the park's tourists
Love how you can tell when Jerma is just talking rather than thinking while talking, like at the start of the stream he's talking in this low tone professional voice then later its his regular goofy voice
@@cathyas3749 especially when I have literal diagnosed by professionals ADHD, and have dealt with the decently severe effects of it for years, and it's even become worsened by my anemia. But sure, I don't have the disorder that I had to spend over a year finding the right medications for, just because a single RU-vid comment says I don't. God I wish it were that easy!
When undergoing an acceleration of 9 g's, your body feels nine times heavier than usual, blood rushes to the feet, and the heart can't pump hard enough to bring this heavier blood to the brain. Your vision narrows to a tunnel, then goes black. If the acceleration doesn't decrease, you will pass out and finally die.
Every time there's a dog in a game he just absolutely shifts in demeanor. Even fucking Wobbledogs he was panicking whenever they would start to fight and shit. The whole "psycho streamer" bit is funny as hell but like, the dude is genuinely such a nice guy, and I like that.
I love how when anyone tries so hard to make a normal roller-coaster in this game it automatically leads to instant death roller-coaster that takes longer to fix than it did to build. And I hate to say it as someone with 30 hours and no half-decent roller coasters ever built, but it's an issue with the player not the game.
Lol this whole stream is the whimsical creativity of an insane architect, and then wraps up with the mad descent into rabid capitalism as Jerma becomes a tyrannical penny pincher who starts blaming his staff for wanting to be paid. What a day. 😂
Anytime jerma gets his hands on a sandbox game hilarity ensues. Some of my other favorite streams were the cities skylines and planet zoo streams. Highly recommend watching those if you haven’t.
important context to be provided here: 5gs is about what the average untrained person can handle for short periods of time. 9gs is about the maximum of what professional fighter pilots can withstand, though prolonged exposure can and will cause them to pass out/sustain life threatening injury, if not sometimes death under particularly mitigating circumstances. the highest recorded amount that a human ever (to my knowledge) survived was about 23gs- the person who experienced this also somehow was miraculously fine-- and also highly trained a jet pilot. anything above 20gs, especially being inflicted from violent changes in inertia, is absolutely going to give you a concussion if it doesnt just make your brain straight up explode before you can sustain any other injury. like it will literally just turn into a smoothie of fat and neurons. the man who survived 23gs of force also was going in a completely straight line with no sharp changes in direction, unlike the new execution methods jerma invented in this stream!
Yo sweet editor. I come back to your edits regularly and love the little edits you add to make the funny clearer. You clearly put in a lot of effort and it is noticed and beloved. Thank you for making these.
Jerma finding out that he essentially built two euthanasia coasters MUCH later than he ought to makes me worry for our collective survival as a species This man must be stopped before it's too late
Started watching Jerma's videos with the live action rumble, so this stream would have been right around when I started watching him live. It's weird to think this is an antique stream now, but also going back to these is always very cozy :)
