Dr. Shannon Curry , the psychologist hired by Johnny Depp, responds to the questions of Amber Heard's lawyer. My reaction #AmberHeard #JohnnyDepp #ShannonCurry #Trial
"About 90% of male victims of IPV have reported that a female partner who abuses them makes threats to report their partner as an abuser. It's less common for men to make that statement to female partners just because there's less potential consequence." Holy fuck, that's huge.
I love the way Dr Shannon just keeps correcting the lawyer so precisely with nothing more than truth and accuracy. I believe she's actually enjoying this charade, judging by the slight wry smile she shows most of the time here.
well we see that to be fair though when you're expected to give binary yes or no questions to an attorney who would be laughed out of traffic court let's just give her the win. Honestly if I were in the witness box not having Shannons vastly superior skills I would honestly wonder if I was witnessing the cognitive breakdown of this supposed hired shark. I was and still am concerned that she tried a case with almost 50 billions views with her apparent lack of skills but wouldn't that be Amber's choice to proceed with this?
@@sunnyadams5842 Her main issue was she was aiming far too much to play on heart strings and using trigger words and phrasing. Ironically often making everyone in the room think of Depp rather than Heard. When she was talking about how people would fear the accuser and that they would lose their reputation... she's literally making Depp's case for him while charging Amber for the time. That's insanity and trying so hard to win via heart strings she didn't realise she singlehandedly secured the Jury's siding with Depp.
She's the prime example of how an expert witness should behave. Clarifying her answers where needed and only testifying to the facts as she knows them, and the opinions that fall under her realm of expertise.
And also for wannabe lawyers (like myself) to not ask stupid questions in court and make your client look like a fool. I mean seriously, I don't like AH, but these lawyers aren't even trying! They completely ignore the responses by the person on the stand and continue with the same, arbitrary questions to tire the witness out and try to incorrectly frame the case in a way that's not reflective of reality (which is clearly not working) and waste time by not coming up with a better strategy. Additionally, they're not getting their points across quick enough. They're giving the witnesses too many chances to ruin their entire plan by trying to be precise with a lie. They're literally fishing for needles in a sea of haystacks.
idk how that woman psychologist has any credit she doesn’t even know the difference between BPD and bipolar which are entirely different disorders even in different Clusters… this psychology is wacky
I love the fact that Shannon Curry is not the slightest bit phased by the lawyer trying to discredit her. Who's going to hire that lawyer after this fiasco ? lol
IMO Dr Curry won. AH's lawyer did her job. Losing is maybe normal against a good expert witness. So I'd guess the lawyer asking the questions is OK. However, did this line of questioning need to spend so much time losing? Maybe Dr Curry's report is disastrous for AH? Maybe AH's team have _nothing_ to defend against its findings? What is AH's team to do? They can't _'pack up and go home'._ Or, I'd imagine, they'd never work again for the level of fees they charge.
Heard’s lawyer did the job she was paid to do. Of course she got ran over - she had a pretty much un-winnable case, and was facing off against a very sharp expert.
@@gbulmerWhen you are defending someone who is likely guilty as charged, EVERY lawyer will try to rattle or harass every ‘expert witness’ to see if they can make them look incompetent to the jury and thereby have the jury doubt their findings. This usually backfires when the expert witness is experienced with testifying and competent, but its worth a try. Depp’s lawyer pulled the exact same trick on Heard’s ‘experts’, but Depp’s lawyer was better at it, and Heard’s lawyers could not find a genuinely competent expert that actually countered Curry’s findings, so it was easier to expose their incompetence. We have no idea how many “experts” the defense had interview Heard, only to have those experts wholly agree with Curry’s findings. This kind of situation often results in one side having to resort to inexpert testimony because no one competent will say what they want said, and that makes it a cakewalk for a competent opposing lawyer to pick them to pieces.
@@christopherpardell4418 Thank you very much for making the effort to reply. Thank you even more for explaining the strategy, tactics and process. I'm a Brit. I felt I'd learned quite a lot about US law and trials from following part of this case (I started following it about two weeks from the end) I did not realise there is no way for Depp's lawyers to discover _"... how many “experts” the defense had interview Heard, ..."._ So that means the defence can _"go shopping for an expert"._ I thought the legal system was designed to stymie that. Fascinating. To paraphrase a US Secretary of Defence; you've taught me something "I didn't know I didn't know". Thank you very much! Best Wishes for a Healthy, Happy, and Peaceful 2023. ☮
Johnny's expressions from 3:52-4:19, you can easily imagine him thinking "yeah, this is exactly what I've been going through - thank you for succinctly outlining exactly the damage that Amber Heard has caused. Every single thing you're describing is what she's been inflicting upon me for years."
It was poetic justice. One of the best parts of the whole trial. He rarely looks at the jury but that glance to see if they were on the same wave length? I hope this moment is validating for domestic abuse.
@@wrendsilva8387 There's multiple cameras stationed in the courtroom. Usually, videos flip from one feed to the other. But I've seen videos that contain more than one camera angle at the same time, and they're run side by side. My favorite was when Amber's expert psychiatrist was being questioned about Willy Wonka. He made those crazy faces and mouth movements, at the same time they showed Johnny's table with his lawyers. Ben Chew and Johnny both leaned forward as if they were witnessing a weird spectacle that they couldn't believe was happening.
Half or even more of there witnesses sounded more like witnesses for Depp, I kinda feel sorry for Elaine, she really tried hard to convince the jurors and afterwards the world AH didn't act with malice, they made the trail about abuse, just to redirect the attention away from the real reason why they are there, because they knew AH got no evidence of everything she claimed, and if I'm not mistaken, a witnesses... cant remember who is was, said that the only reason she sold the story about DV, to PEOPLE magazine, was because JD refused to give her mire money then she asked for(i might be wrong about this) ,.... and then AH wrote the OP-ED, and they claimed the OP-ED said nothing about JD, ....oh how dumb they were AH mentioned JD in PEOPLE magazine, so all this trying to redirect the jurors didn't help them, and even a year on AH is still trying to ruin DEPP
@@annemariemyburgh7252 Totally agree with your take, and at first I felt some sympathy for Elaine as well. However I stopped feeling sorry for Elaine following her interview on cable news wherein she claimed the jury's verdict is a "major loss for all women" instead of simply one for Amber Heard & herself, thereby grouping ALL women (like yourself) together with Amber, though I would assume many decent women would want nothing more than to be excluded from that group. This was an effort to lick her wounds on TV and publicly appeal to their viewers to support both her client and her firm DESPITE the overwhelming evidence to the contrary and unanimous jury verdict. Just another attempt to #MeToo the guy, and it's plain ugly. Seems like the attorney was a perfect fit for her client.
I love how Dr Curry actually controls the pace. When Elaine tries to rush things through Dr Curry just slows things by asking for the question to be repeated and asks for clarification.
BEAUTIFUL EXECUTION. Classic Style, Subtle yet Effective destruction of elaine by the INCREDIBLE Dr. CURRY!! I greatly enjoyed this clip no matter who had been on trial.
So do I! The most important thing you can do when being cross examined is maintaining your control over the questioning. You don’t need to usurp the lawyer’s control, but you need to make sure you maintain your control as well.
Shannon Curry is amazing in this. Heard's lawyer did nothing but make Heard look worse. This is awesome and i'm so happy to see the antagonist lose in this one.
"And it's stressful for the victim to be in such a situation?" "Absolutely." "And it causes them a lot of fear." "Certainly." You can just tell from the psychologist's expression and tone of voice that she's thinking just how great of a job Elaine is doing revealing the truth of Amber's abuse.
These videos should be turned into a drinking game. Every time the lawyer says “is that correct” and the response is “no that is not correct” that’s a drink. 😂
Amber's lawyers are providing that Johnny is a victim. Honestly were the hell did she find these people. This is were KARMA is a beautiful thing lmfao 🤣 😂
3:25 I love this, AH's lawyer is desperately trying to connect these questions to amber but fails completely, with the opposite effect, people linking them to Jhonny. You can't do it worse.
My favourite bit of this cross examination is the bit where Heard's Lawyer asks a question, gets an answer contrary to the point she's trying to make, then confidently says "alright, let's go to page (gives a number)" they look at the page, Dr Curry eloquently answers and they move on to something else.
Wow...this witness, this Lady DOCTOR OWNS this testimony. She is not intimidated, not led down the crooked path by elaine. She is consistent, confident, credible & believable. I would have found favorably for J D based on her testimony alone!!
What's so funny (interesting) to me is that Dr. Curry thought she looked terrible that day, her hair wasn't cooperating, and she felt disheveled. And here we all are saying how amazing she looked and testified 😂❤
@@TripleKmafia I marvel how you think I'm the idiot while you examplify my ans Joseph's comment as being idiotic. Because his argument can me paraphrased as "everyone who has this skillset is a parent". So.. what it'll be, genius?

❌ counts of lying under oath ❌ counts of assault ❌ counts of false allegations ❌ counts of defamation And whatever the charge is for shitting in someone's bed. Like SEND HER TO PRISON ALREADY.
I know it would have been immediately stricken from record and the jury told to disregard, but I would have loved for the Dr to say something like “yes, that’s exactly what Mr Depp has been suffering because of your client”. Lol would have been beautiful
Dr. Shannon Curry is not just pretty, she's pretty smart. She has flat shut down this dingy attorney. Amber must be broke and hired these attorneys from the homeless corridor.
This trial shines a light on all the women who gaslight, manipulate, lie and falsely accuse men of abuse for personal gain or to use the justice system as a weapon.
Every time the lawyer asks a question this psychologist is quick to say - “ Incorrect”. I believe she did this to completely ruin her rhyme, her confidence, and the lawyer did start to panic a little and botched a few questions. It’s pretty clever actually.
I’m my country all these questions would be called “leading the witness” which is not allowed. Saying an incorrect statement and asking them “correct?” puts words in their mouth and really just enables the lawyer to make statements heard even if they are incorrect in the hope that some of those comments may have an impact on the jury. I’m surprised this is allowed in the states.
This is a cross examination where leading questions are permitted. The lawyer is assumed to be hostile to the witness given they are part of the opposing side. If this was a direct examination (the lawyer questioning their own witness) then leading questions are not allowed (you can watch later in the trial where this lawyer is directly examining Amber and Jonny's lawyer is objecting to just about every leading questions one after another).
Leading questions are permitted under cross examination. However, and not many people know this. But you can tell the lawyer to change the question to an open-ended one. As long as you can explain how leading questions are subjective and can lead to inaccurate information being given to the judge/jury. The beauty of this is it puts the lawyer on the defensive. He has to either change his question, which he doesn’t want to do or demand you answer his leading question, which undermines his credibility with the court. And if the court doesn’t like you, you’re gonna lose your case.
Elaine is so outmatched, outwitted, and outclassed by Dr. Curry that if the latter wasn't a pleasure to listen to, this whole interaction would have been painful to watch.
It worked against Amber's expert psychologist and psychiatrist. Dr. Hughs and Dr.Spiegel took it all personally and were defensive, arrogant, and argumentative. Depp's lawyer took advantage of their inflated egos and got them to trip up multiple times. But Dr. Curry was professional, concise, and unflappable.
Elaine traded her fair-reputation for terrible, trying to trip up this incredibly prepared psychologist. It’s hard to watch her struggle and get annihilated but it is her fault. Kenny Rogers sang- you gotta know when to hold, fold, walk away and when to run. Elaine should’ve sprinted outta there, she was completely out leagued.
She imo destroyed it when she started doing those tv interviews. Even Ben Chew says she's a good lawyer. It's just hard being good at your job when the client wanna control what's asked, said and ofc when they are clearly guilty😂
Dr Curry : " That's not correct" Elaine : "O.K" De Curry : " That's not correct" Elaine : "O.K" Dr Curry :"That's not correct" Elaine : "O.K" Elaine :" Sometimes the abuser plays the victim" De Curry : "That's correct"
@@luqmaanschannel305her insurance completely covered the payment of her lawyers and when they assigned the lawyers to her… SHE chose different ones that she preferred
I’m not saying the rumours of amber killing her high school friend in a car accident is true, but it’s interesting that bringing up her high school friends is the only time she gets combative w the psychologist.
When lawyer starts talking about gaslighting is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. You are letting the jury think about the perpetrator is the one gaslighting.
I'm a little confused about the gaslighting line of questioning. There is no evidence of JD gaslighting anyone but there is evidence of Amber doing it to JD on recording and the jury heard it. So if I was a juror I'd be confused as to who she's refering to. I think that hurt Amber more than it helped.
I love the fact that when she's starting to talk about gaslighting, she kinda gives the case to the defence because shes DESCRIBING AMBERS BEHAVIOR! :P
That last question was a dirty trick I found out later. Dr curry was ordered that she couldnt testifie on that subject but since the party who gagged the order asked the question Dr Curry was allowed to answer it lol thats why Elaine went running up to the judge😂 Elaine is a useless lawyer.
Same! I learnt about the context behind that question after learning about the transcript. This trial is still filled with new entertainment over a year later.
Yep. She was wanting Dr curry to say she couldn’t to imply something else but because she asked the question Dr curry could answer lol. Shot herself in the foot
