Thats a good questions and some producers will create different processing for each note that gets pitched on a seperate channel to create a cleaner harmonic. Through my recent experiences the idea of less is more is better. Try get the envelope of the sounding tight as possible so you can use less EQ and slight compression with some good saturation mixed in with a kick that gels well and your bass should be good to go. Saturation EQ and compression are key for bass processesing the trick is how you process them

Hi mate. That's true you need to keep your kick and bass in mono so it would be best to keep the signal chain as mono. You could put a utility at the end of the chain to put the signal in mono and you could then resample the bass after that. Not sure if it would cause any problems but you could load in a MSED to check.
