Harbor Freight 3 Point Quick Hitch on LS Tractor MT125 Tractor 3 pt hitch (Part 1) Review
I have always thought about buying the quick hitch from Harbor Freight, but never got around to it because my implements are all smaller. Well the new Titan Implement 4 foot rotary cutter is heavy and Harbor Freight sent me a 25% off coupon. I went ahead and bought one. Watch all three of the videos, as I go through the problems and advantages of Using the 3 point quick attach. It will not work on all 3 point equipment without modification or adapters. Hey Tony, I really enjoy your videos. You obviously have a lot of practical experience. Some of the videos need to have the volume elevated. I'm always trying to learn how to do my own repairs because I can't afford to have all repairs done at the shop. Plz turn up the sound and keep doing your videos. Thanks Tony.👍

Thanks Tony for sharing with us an honest review. I am surprised the implements were not all QH compatible, even if they don't look too old or odd. Seems the box blade is a category 0 as the width seems to be near 20". Like you said, this QH can become handful for large/heavy implements like your rotary cutter. Looking for the next videos!

Great, informative video and honest review, thanks Tony. The issues you encountered are fairly common with mix and match implements and quick hitches. I think the only way you can get everything compatible is to buy all the same brand of implements and quick hitch. Have you ever checked out Pat's Easy Change? It's pretty much universal but is only for the lower links, you still have to connect the top link manually. One of the challenges with quick hitches on some implements is that the implement has vertical bracing behind where the top link connects and doesn't have enough clearance for a quick hitch to grab the top link. A buddy of mine has the Pat's Easy Change and he's really happy with it. Looking forward to more videos showing the modifications you make. Thanks again.

I've had the same hitch now for 13 years. It's on my Kubota 3130, 31hp tractor. It has performed flawlessly. However you do have to adapt each piece of equipment to fit the hitch. Once that's done, you can hitch and unhitch without ever leaving the seat of the tractor.
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 4 года назад
I agree. It is much easier once everything is modified to work with the quick hitch.

Just as a heads up even with buying a John Deere tractor, quick hitch and frontier implement, you still have to purchase a bushing kit.
@BlackSparrowRanch

Too bad that doesn't work out of the box. I've been seeing this pop up a lot in my recommended videos, and it seems to be about 50/50. Most people seem to need top link adapters. My main concern would be that my box blade has those clevis brackets instead of hitch pins that stick out like yours. I may have to do some measuring and see if it might work. Looking forward to part 2.

Just bought this… but i have a bigger tractor… so it didn’t fit. My bottom 3pt arms are cat2.. so i returned it.. went to TS and got a cat2 quick hitch ($140 more expensive) now my implement pins are not wide enough to “safely run” so im going to get xtra long implement pins… Youll need the cat1 to cat 3 extensions sleeves with pins to fit snug. They will slip over the extended implement pins
@TonysTractorAdventure

I talk about the pin sleeves in part two. It is hard to get everything to work, but once you do, it makes life so much easier.

I've owned a HF 3 Pt QH for over a year now, and am totally sold on them. I've got all of my attachments adapted to the hitch, so it works like you want-drop and go, and hook up and go! BTW - nice gooseneck trailer. What length did you go with on your LS with the FEL, carrying a brush cutter?

Good video! to bad your implements connections are so skinny. I didn't have that issue, but I have had others issues. you don't need to put the levers up when connecting, the lower pins will push the spring loaded lock plates in and lock the attachment in.

I have tz25da new holland and it looks comparable to yours do you have enough clearance between the tires and the arms off the back to be able to put chains on the tires? I would love to have the attachment to make it quicker but it looks like it's too close to the tires to work with chains. I guess what I'm asking is how much space do you have between the tires and the arms? I would spend the extra money on the sleeves or whatever it would have to do to modify it as long as I know it will fit my category 1 hitch properly with chains.

If you turn your pins around going in from the inside it would be better to lock them in place.
@crxess

PTO shaft information is incorrect. Short extensions have been around for years. They are Quick connect making them very versatile. I agree with others, the Top Hook is a big issue and even in mid-2023 HF is supplying the same Top Hook. I ordered my replacement the day I picked up the Q.H., as well as a few Bushing sets and extended lower pins. *All my attachments are older non-compatible, but not that hard to convert. Almost All Cat 1 Quick Hitches have a bottom hook spacing of approx. 27-1/4" inside and 29-3/4" outside width, including the H.F. Quick Hitch. Variations include but are not limited to Bottom Hook diameter(Cat. 1, 2, 3) and Top Link compatibility. ** Attachment Compatibility: Manufactures use this claim if no cutting/Welding is required to make their attachment connect to a Quick Hitch. Modifications required include: Changing Pin size/Length(especially of the Lower Pins), use of Bushings/Sleeves, Changing the location(height) of the upper pin.(hooking to a lower fixed bolt on the implement). *** Quick Hitch means an Implement is, by design, built to Quick Hitch standards and should be connection ready. **** Widths change dramatically between Cat-1, Cat-2, Cat-3 Quick Hitches****

You get what you pay for with the HF quick hitch . All the pins and bolts are metric and they are a very sloppy fit when attached to your tractor . The top hook does not stick out far enough to engage most implements and needs to be reworked or replaced with the correct standout . A new hook can be purchased at boltonhooks.com for about $40. The welding of this frame is also substandard an will probably fail with use . I did purchase one because of the low cost and then spent several days correcting the many problems . I have 45 yrs of welding and fabrication experience so it’s fixed correctly now . If you have all the tools and time to fix it then you will save some money , the John Deere hitch is about $400 from the dealer I purchased my tractor from . Just realize you are getting what you paid for .

Everything Attachments has a smaller quick hitch that DOES NOT REQUIRE THE PIN ADAPTER. It is about 150$ but should work better for you due to being lighter and correct Category 1 hook up.

I would like to differ with your conclusion that the HFQH is a failure. Keep in mind that it's made in China and also keep in mind that the CAT 1, 2, 3 etc. "standards" allow for a wide variation in implement pin width and centerline height of the third pin. So here is my story with the HFQH. First, the top hook is too close the the QH frame and needs to be extended by 1" to 1-1/4" which is accomplished by welding a block to the back of the hook and redrilling the holes. There are aftermarket ones available for purchase for around $30 if you aren't handy in the fabrication department. Second, the supplied pins that hook the QH to the draft arms are grossly undersized...by 0.100" to be exact. This will cause excessive wear on the swivelly balls of the draft arms and provide a lot of unnecessary slop to the assembly. I bought a set of CAT 1 lower link pins at Farm & Fleet and re-made the lower pins using the purchased ones as a starting point. A little lathe work and fabrication/welding will do the trick. You will also have to drill out the holes in the QH to 57/64" to accommodate the new pins. Third, you need to use bushings on the lower pins of your implement to bring the O.D. of the pins from 7/8" to around 1-7/16" so they fit snugly in the lower hooks of the QH. You have to do this with ANY QH you use, Land Pride, iMatch, SpeeCo, Lee Agra, etc.. I made such modifications to my HFQH and it has served me well for over 3 years with no other issues. Also, in order to keep the "quick" in the QH, you need to adjust your implements to match one setting on the QH...this is only a concern if you use (usually) older implements from a variety of manufacturers as I stated before, the "standards" for 3PH's are very loose at best and allowed manufacturers MUCH leeway in their designs.
