Here are my first impressions using the Harbor Freight Quick Hitch. I paid just $88 for it. Is it worth it? I'm using it with my Kubota B2601 compact tractor and land pride implements. I also attach the Woodland Mills WC68 woodchipper using this quick hitch. Enjoy this harbor freight quick hitch review. #MCGtv #kubotab2601 #homesteading ‪@harborfreight‬

I really liked this review. I thoroughly identify with your comments and approach having experienced many of the same frustrations and learnings (by doing and failing). Your comments about being on a flat surface is key. I have a home in the Adirondack Mountains and have almost no flat land. So I have learned the hard way. I look forward to exploring more of your videos. Best regards, Greg

I forgot to mention I have the Harbor freight QH and have used the heck out of it with no issues. Even with the pounding of rocks on the tiller and I have Rocks! Big Rocks and lots of them and this thing has held up well. So why spend the money on the so called name brand when I could get 4 of the harbor freight ones for less than one name brand? I just don't HATE my money that much.

I just bought a LandPride RTR 40” tiller and the included driveshaft was 3” too long to fit on my Kubota BX2380’s category 1 hitch. I watched your video right before heading to Harbor Freight to buy their quick attach and I do believe they revised the top hook to give it more clearance/distance. Working like a charm now! tip - I keep a 5' pry bar or piece of pipe with my attachments for making minor adjustments if the attachment does not line up just right or the lift arms do not want to come off the pins easily, especially useful if not using a quick hitch. the bar provides leverage to lift something up a little or move it side to side a inch or two.

I’ve got the harbor freight quick hitch. I thought it was good enough until I tried to hook up my bush hog RDTH 60 finish mower which is the most common implement I use. The same issue you had with your. I also needed to go buy some bushings for the bottom two links. Update- I was speaking with a friend and he recommended buying a longer top link. I’m going to give that a try ! Hopefully that will work.

I am so glad to see I am not the only person swearing at my tiller when it comes time to take it on or off. I have no idea why the hell they made the 3pt arms so short on these tractors.. a couple more inches would have made life so much easier. If I manage to get the tiller attached the next battle is the PTO. Once it's connected it has plenty of travel, but getting it on, sweet Jesus I was going to attack the female end with a sawzall and cut an inch off the tube for more clearance.

Thanks for this great content! I’ve been considering the QH. I’m such a rank novice with this tractor (I have the same one you do). I have yet to figure out how to detach the digger bucket. I actually have a few more summer jobs for the digger anyway, so it’s going to stay on until spring anyway. I was thinking of QH and a tiller and a chipper. That will be my winter research task!

I have 2 quick hitches. A Harbor Freight QH on the old Farmall C and a Farm Hand by Lee on the Kubota M5660. The HF QH has been in use for about 6 years and has functioned very well after I made a few "adjustments". First one was the top hook situation. I welded a block on the backside and re-drilled the holes so that the hook projects out from the QH frame by 3/4"-1"...can't recall at this time how wide I made the block. This made all the difference in the world and I see that Ken's Bolt On Hooks now offers an aftermarket top hook for the HFQH. I also replaced the bolts that hold the top hook with quick pins. The second situation that I discovered just last year is that the lower pins supplied with the HFQH are too small. By this I mean that they are less than 7/8" diameter which is the CAT I standard. I believe that they measured 20mm (0.787") so they were sloppy in the swivelly balls on the draft arms. To correct this, I bought a new set of CAT I lower pins from Blain's Farm and Fleet and then modified them to fit into some new tabs that I made from flat stock with a bend in them to wrap around the QH frame just like the original ones. Next, I drilled out the holes in the QH to 29/32". Reassembled everything and no more sloppy fit. The Farm Hand by Lee is bullet proof right out of the box and will fit a CAT I or II tractor, has an extended top hook with quick pins, has a welded on 5/16" grab hook on each side, and 3 Reese Hitch sockets welded on that you can affix bale spears or any number of things limited only by your imagination. It came with a box full of pins and bushings and the fork type attachment for use with implements such as your finish mower with the floating top connection. Made in the USA for $687. As you discovered, bushings are necessary for the lower pins to fit properly in the QH. SpeeCo now makes a QH with lower hooks that fit 7/8" pins directly with no bushings required so it can save you a bunch of money in bushings if you have several CAT I implements. I am a machinist so all my bushings I make myself and are FREE.

I bought the same QH you did. I have implements from probably every manufacturer ever in business. Some are old, and not necessarily QH compatible. As a result, I welded the top connector on the QH, as the mounting bolts kept getting in the way. I did have to modify a couple of older implements, including my finish mower. My finish mower is designed to float, so it required the most adjusting. Once I completed all of the mods, everything continues to work gets. I used BI pipe as bushings for the lower pins. Cheap and easy. Thanks for the review.

I have the land pride version and I have pins, not bolts, in the upper hook. If you arise that hook up higher it will work just fine with the finish mower and the pins make it quick and easy.

I'm not knocking the quick hitch but anyone considering needs to check out Pat's Quick Change. It's simpler, and more versatile because the spacing isn't fixed. Add Mark Hodge's telescoping stabilizer and it's even better. It will cost more, but will connect to anything.

Some quick hitches out there have a flat bar that pins in above the hook and then pins to the top of the 3pt for situations like your finish mower. If you can find a fabrication shop in your area, they could probably fix you right up. I don’t have a quick hitch personally because I have many old attachments and some homemade that would have to be modified to work but I’m working in that direction. Thanks for the great content.

There are adapter sleeves that you put over your category 1 pins to make them fit the cat. 2 hooks on your quick hitch. They cost around $40.00 for a pair. You will need a pair for each implement you want to attach to your quick hitch.

On the finish mower you most likely need to move the hook up on the quick hitch so it grabs the bar tightly and doesn't allow it to roll out when lifting
@johnenwright8617
@johnenwright8617 3 года назад
I picked up the same one. Instead of putting bushings on all of my implements, I found a couple pieces of pipe with an ID of 3/4”for the top and 7/8” for the bottom. I cut the pipe in half lengthwise and then in half the same width of the hooks and welded them into the bottom of the hooks like shims/saddles so when the standard pin lays in the bottom it mates up firmly. It works perfect. Seemed to make more sense to modify one part instead of several others.

Hi, I have a B1550 Kubota and I have a rototiller that hooks very similar to yours. I don't have a quick hitch and you are 100% right, it is terrible to hook up. A problem that I think I might have is that my lower arms on the Kubota won't "spread" very wide and will have to do some measuring to see if this would work for my machine. This is a great video and you did a good job showing and explaining the quick hitch and how it works. Thanks, J.R.

What I did I went to Fleet Farm store an bought 2 shaft collars for less then $2.00 a piece. The shaft collars are 1/2” thick 1” in diameter with a 7/16 hole. I put this on the bottom of the 3/8 shaft and tightened the set screw. Now the is no chance the pin can come out. I’ve seem Other people wasn’t as lucky as I was and had considerable damage to the tractor. Wayne from Wisconsin

Thanks great video. Good information and honest review. Seems like The Good The Bad and The Ugly with the Harbor Freight quick hitch. I was on the fence would have seen similar videos and that seems to be the recurring issue with this hitch. I think when you start adding up the category 1 pins and you have to add and well as modifications all of a sudden it doesn't seem like take a deal. I guess if you're a welder in like the tinker and mess with things you can modify it and make things work. I do know there are other quick hitch Brands out there which do not require in the modify the Cat 1 pins. I think there's a top link extender which could possibly work to fix one of your issues. I also saw a video with someone grind it down that top hook on the quick hitch to make it work. Anyway I enjoy the videos keep them coming. Thanks

I have a SpeeCo E-Hitch which doesn't need the adapters/bushings. I paid right at $130 for it. One of the best things that I have gotten for my Kubota L3901DT.

I bought a Titian Equipment QH and it looks the same as yours and I think I paid about 195.00 for it. I also had to buy the pins to fit some of my equipment. I did not know HF sold these.

I'm glad you had luck with your quick hitch. I bought mine on amazon. It's sitting in the corner of my garage collecting dust. Won't work on anything I have.

My first experience with the quick attach was the old Farmall 300 2 pt. hitch row crop tractor. I didn't check out the quick attach because I just assumed all my old equipment wouldn't work with it. When I finally broke down and replaced my old Ford 6600 with a Kubota 3901 and got tired of fighting the equipment to hook it up by myself I finally got the tape measure out. I got lucky and realized my assumptions were wrong and the few pieces of equipment that I have would work. I bought a used quick attach for $200 and used bolts on the bottom links and double nutted them. It turns out I could have bought a new quick attach at the place where I bought the tractor for around $30 more that came with the bottom pins. Oh well, at least I also didn't have to pay taxes on the used one.

when not using the quick hitch, try adding a spud bar to your arsenal for man handling and pushing/pulling attachments... works really well.

What's a spud bar?
@HardyBrothersOutdoors
@HardyBrothersOutdoors 3 года назад
@@jimmielittle877 google spud bar. It’s a long steel bar that in my reference above you’d put against the ground and use leverage to shift and move the heavy piece of equipment... I show it in episode #49 on my channel.

One very important issue not mentioned which I found to be difficult. You must back up squarely. Squarely back into the implement or getting it connected is a bit hard!
@keithrayeski3147
@keithrayeski3147 2 года назад
Of course that’s all negated if you have a subframe backhoe attached? Still, worth the investment at more than three times less…it’ll work just fine!! Great video!

When I bought my tractor, I had the QH added on because I knew I wouldn't be able to hitch the implements up, otherwise. As long as I get it lined up properly, it falls right into place.

I bought a rural king quick hitch. I had bought a harbor freight hitch I took it back because the lift arm pins are to small that came with hitch my bushings on arms are 7/8 I had to drill out the hitch to 7/8 and use new pins. Also ordered cat 1 to cat 2 bushings for my box blade the pins are 7/8 to loose in quick hitch

Roll your bucket midway dumped..push it into the ground enough to get a bite..when you need to slightly move the tractor forward or back grab the lever and roll the bucket..

Two pieces of flat bar drilled to match the top hook holes with two spacers the thickness of the mounting bracket to allow mounting on the outside of it instead inside the bracket will move that top hitch out away from the bracket on the Harbor Freight quick hitch. Measure the thickness of the bracket that has all those mounting holes to get the spacer thickness needed. The flat bar can be that same thickness. Cut four pieces. Drill four holes. You’ll need two grade 8 nuts and bolts to bolt on the extension you make from the flat bar.

I don’t know if you have seen it or if someone already mentioned it in the comments, but you can buy a deeper casted too hook on Amazon for 45 bucks. That’s half the price of what I paid for the QH but if it means I can hook up all my implements then I’m still happy. It will be here on Friday and I’ll update you if you like. Great videos!

B2601 w/ LP15QH The only difference i can see between Land Pride and Harbor Freight is color and country of manufacture...aside from price. I used slip on bushings for all three points. I also use pins on the top link (hook) where you used bolts. As for me, it needs be up near the top setting for the three point mower and on some large undululation it still comes unhooked from the hook. Pins make it a quick adjustment for setting or resetting the top hook. Also, pallets not only keep your 'appliances' off the ground it helps with that little bit short it sometimes seems when hooking up. Boxblade particularly. Good channel. I just recently found and subscribed.
