After clearing out a hoarded house, we open and sort a bin of treasure! What will we find inside?!? Subscribe for more episodes, and... stay tuned for the safe opening videos!
When I was a little girl my grandmother would let me sit and look at the pretty things she kept in a large keepsake/ jewelry box, there were all sorts of trinkets, one day I was SO EXCITED to find a container of cool “ Rocks”. Turned out to be her gallstones from the surgery she had. 🥴🤣😱
Hi, the silver badge with "service rendered"is nor a nurse's badge. It is a badge given to wounded military personnel during WW1. It was meant to be worn on civilian clothing to show the person had served. The number on the back can be researched and will give name, rank and unit and reason for dicharge. Might be worth a look.
Alex you could make a 100 unboxing videos from this hoard at an hour or more each and we would watch. Don't underestimate the attention span of your audience. This video flew by.
Absolutely. I watch several channels of people who buy storages. I watch hours of them opening boxes. Alex opening boxes would be a lot more interesting because he is so knowledgeable and also entertaining. I definitely would watch Alex!
@@Nwladylaura369I don’t know how old you are, but at 64 years old, I think that my grandma would have used that in about 1910! I think someone would collect it!
Would really be great if you could do a video with closeups of jewelry, etc. going to auction. Kastner gives very little in way of a description. It would be nice if they had a ruler in the picture so you have a sense of size. And I’m sure you would make more money. I was very disappointed in the last 3 pieces I bought from them and am not going to bid on anything unless I’ve seen it in a video and you’ve talked about it. Here’s hoping for a successful sale.
My in laws went to see the Queen when they still lived in England. My now husband ran off just as the limo door was opened……..and he jumped in the car! Lol. He still is a car fanatic. He was given back to his very embarrassed mother by a guard. The Queen never knew. Love watching your videos thanks 👍👍👍❤️🇨🇦
No, the rose box is not a pill container. It was a necklace and earrings, and the box held the chain nice an neatly. It's own little jewelry box. I had one just like it many years ago.
My hubby is into coins, so he was interested it what you found. I enjoy the jewelry, so I really was interested in your jewelry finds! Great video and by the way, tell Melissa she has beautiful hands!
One of my sisters make jewelry, one does embroidery, and I crochet, sew, and craft. All of these beads, charms, etc. can be placed in lots and sold as crafting bundles. My sister and I both have bought strings of beads, took them apart and reused them. Just a thought.
Look forward to you all making a sizable profit.we all know how much you deserve it!!! Very few people are as talented and work like you people !!! Wishing you best of everything😅
For coins that weren't silver, those tokens are well packaged. Reminds me of the silver proof sets for the Olympics. That penny jar was in an old cold cream makeup jar.
Love that little makeup compact! Those are very collectible. They would usually be multi purpose, so for lips and cheeks. I’m guessing it’s from before WW2 or immediately post ww2 due to it being metal. Makeup came in cardboard packaging during the war because they needed the metal for the war effort. These are significant parts of history, but are often overlooked because it’s “just makeup”. There are lot of collectors of vintage and antique makeup. Lisa Eldridge here on youtube has a significant collection and has made a few videos on makeup history
I want the carved bracelet!!!! And the duck brooch, that stuff is all the stuff I collect. I would have been so delighted. The elephants and bracelet could be celluloid or early plastic. You guys look for gold and silver, I look for junk.
When my mother in law died. I tried going thru all the items, sorting by type, matching sets, etc, It took a long time and I didn't have half of what you have. I can totally appreciate the work you did on this. (I can also smell the musty metal smell, too, watching this. The whole batch ftom my MIL had a particular metal smell.)
Love hearing Alex saying...oh...hang on..... Kind of disappointed in the jewelry, but maybe the 'good stuff' is in the safe! I wasn't so sure any fine jewelry would be discovered; the money was a nice surprise. Looking forward to the next episode.
I had a bracelet as a child with those tiny lanterns that were in the box with the ivory at the start of your video. Bad homburg in Germany had an annual lantern festival which is probably where my bracelet came from. I love the way the eyes pop out!
Thar was fascinating! These people were interested in so many things! And seemed to have enough of an income to indulge themselves modestly . It seems they collected what appealed to them in the moment- and tried to order them in a way that only made sense to them lol 😆 Loved that little carved set Alex thought might be ivory! The Rouge if applied right -was still not a "natural " look, but was a style that endured many years. Melissa you are a patient woman! You do well as an assist to Alex, and each revealing with the two of you the camera work goes smoother! And Alex I compliment you on your learning to share a bit more. You are a man with a system and a preference for things being done to your sense of order - it's lovely that you have Melissa and the kids share in these discoveries more! So many of us enjoy being allowed to follow your whole family thru your adventures ! Thank you all!
Did you pick up the “vibe” Alex seemed a bit stressed or maybe just exhausted in this video. He’s such a good man, and I’m sure he would never hurt anyone especially his family on purpose. When he said “Melissa, move your hand” it just didn’t sound like his usual self (to me) Ge wasn’t mean, just picked up something was not quite right today. I’m sure he’s exhausted from the cleaning out of this home. I hope that’s all it is. OR….. maybe I’m tired and reading into things not really there? Either way, they deserve a break after all this work. And, I agree with you Melissa seems far more comfortable on camera and assisting Alex on these videos. Looking forward to the next one!!!
@@TheTuesday11 if you are directing your post ay mine-not sure where you picked up mean or hurtful behavior from my post - Alex is just Alex- he is particular about how he does things - which makes him great at what he does and so enjoyable to watch .Melissa has been with him a long time - she knows him well. The more they work on camera together ❤️ the better it gets! It's nice of you to be concerned about him though and I hope a good night's sleep will be good for all of us. And my apologies to Alex and Melissa for hijacking your post and talking about you so personally. But you are much better family than my own so I prefer getting caught up in yours🤣!
@@starrlacey2505 I agree with you, I think Alex is an amazing man, dad, husband, business man. He seems to really care about people and treats them “fair” and with respect. I really enjoy watching him and his family. We all have “off” days. He was working a lot of hard hours in this series. I wish their family and you all the best!
Where I live in Pennsylvania,USA we have craftspeople who bend antique cutlery into rings, book marks, wind chimes, recipe holders ,and also bud vase pins out of the hollow handles of knives. I have several items to match my antique cutlery pattern.
Since I don’t have to do the work of identifying and determining value, It was like Christmas to me! This takes me back to my grandma letting me s snoop through her” treasure” dresser drawers. I do the same with my grandson. Nothing too valuable but ( guessing since I’ve not researched for value). You’re letting us go back to good memories with loved ones who have passed which makes me smile. Thank you😊
It must be so exciting going through a box like that...not knowing what you're going to find. I love your attitude Alex. You are so respectful in that you never talk directly about what things might be worth etc...
living in Europe i'm puzzled how Alex could so fast decide that those 200 and 500 euro bills on top of the bin were not real. they are rare nowadays but were frequently used.
@@GuyWithTheDogs as photocopies, they would be considered counterfeit, and thus not just worth zero, but less than the paper they are printed on as it is illegal. Even fake money used in movies has to be clearly(big enough to see when holding but doesn't show up on camera) marked as fake, to prevent it from being illegal counterfeit. Alex can ask a bank to dispose of it, or a police station, or burn it if he is really sure it is fake. Personally, I would go to my bank, tell them I was cleaning out bins from an estate sale, and request they check some potential fake foreign currency. Let them verify its fake.
WOW Alex, it turned out to be worth all your hard work, great job buddy! BTW - the good jewelry (that Melissa doesn't take :0) Should be sold off individually online at some of the places that sell that kind of things. You will make a lot more than auctioning off those items.
I remember, when I was a kid it was a tradition in Russia when there was a super welcomed guest we have to give them something of equivalent value, and we end up having give them foreign coins of where we came from as a symbol of respect for their journey to our home. These coins value could have come a long way, different coins have traditional value. This is a great find, a keeper.
Hello!…I don’t often get to comment..but you brought back a good memory…about 34 years ago I work at a CCRC..Continuing Care Retirement Community…it’s a place where retirees buy an apartment and on the other side was an assisted living and nursing home…anyway..a Russian envoy came to see us..there were about ten gentleman.. They were invited to stay and have dinner with us ..even though the residents had their own kitchens..included in the cost of the apartment they could have one meal a day in the main dining room…I worked as hostess/head waitress..me and another girl were responsible for their table that night..at dinners end one of the gentleman gave me his lapel pin for taking care of them throughout the night…my boss came up to me and pulled me a side…she told me about such a custom…and then went on to tell me I must return the gesture…I knew they were leaving soon..I ran to my locker..I went through everything…even my purse..I wanted to give him something to say thank you…just as I was leaving the Locker room…empty handed..I checked myself in the mirror ..I realized my hair pin…it was silver with black onyx…I paid a lot for it and didn’t where to often because of that…I felt kind of silly handing a man my hair pin as a thank you..but he was so kind…through the interpreter…he told me his ..I think he said 13 years old daughter back in Russia would Love it so…that her hair was way past her hips…this was just after the Wall had fallen..couple years…he was so excited..I was so happy that I hadn’t embarrassed him with a girly gift..just the opposite…I wonder if she still has it…I still have the lapel pin…and it seemed as though I saved my boss from embarrassment…she went from a frown to smile at me…
Those two squarish Ramona china dishes are the same pattern that my parents bought for my paternal grandmother who died in 1995! Lovely to see a china pattern that I recognized! Always enjoy your 'hoarded house' videos and seeing your pals. Thanks!
I love your videos. The two watches in the Birks boxes are definitely nurses watches. They used to make watches specifically for nurses. Love to you and Melissa and your beautiful children
I seen some amber and tiger eye as well as all the gold and silver. That Jade maple leaf was great too. Wow what a box that turned out to be. Great finds all the coins and old bills too. That was just a tub can't even begin to imagine what is in the safe(s) now You have a great day
I said I would never buy anything from your auction again, because the shipping is outrageous, but I can't stand it!!! I will HAVE to bid on some of this cool stuff. Looking forward to the auction!!!
