Pt. 26 We Finally Found My Hard Start Issue! 91 F350 CAT 3126 Engine Swap 

Maybe just the by pass of the oil pump was the problem, 3126 engines would shut off if there's no good oil pressure or won't start.

That dipstick was probably replaced with a universal trim to fit style. Common in heavy duty application

I have seen dip sticks on equipment that seemed to be made out of a cable similar to a speed o cable and it was silver soldered to the piece on the end that had a marker to check level and the other end was the handle that was soldered to the cable

So, you "finally found your hard starting issue". I must have missed something. Was it the check valve needed to be at the tank, or the fuel line you found that wasn't hooked up at the head, or the oil filter you replaced. I have a 3126E (52k miles)that occasionally won't start for 3 or 4 attempt(not cold weather)in our Newmar motor home and was hoping to find out what your solution was. Edit, I watched it again and see where I missed that you said you were going to remove the oil pan and replace the pump(@8:27-8:30) I must have thought you were talking about a transfer pump cause you didn't say "oil pump, just pump. I need to listen closer. Thanks for posting.

I thought it wouldn't start because of the lift pump. Not the lift pump on the HEUI, but on the frame?
