Ride an '04 R6 and had this issue suddenly riding right in the middle of a highway. Got back home and found this after some google searches. The cleaning took all of 10 minutes and the last few hours of riding haven't brought back this issue. Thanks a lot all the way from Lagos, Nigeria!

@djcuden After I completed everything you have seen in the video, my bike ran like it was brand new! It fixed all the problems I was having. I have 11k miles on my bike and it would not suprise me one bit if the same thing was wrong with yours. It's really easy to fix.
Very helpful video mate. Had the exact same problems as you and took a stab in the dark so I cleaned mine Also put DC4 on the "o" ring and connector terminal, as its used in subsea connections for cameras. Now it runs smoothly. A Still a bit pessimistic that its actually sorted it Cause can't get over it was as something as simple as that
Thanks for this video. I'm not a mechanic but I definitely tinker with all my toys. My 05 R6 recently started similar symptoms at about 19k miles. Started googling and came to the R6 forums, then i found your helpful videos. I'll clean the sensor out this weekend and hopefully it'll fix the issue. Did your problems ever return or require the sensor to be replaced? I appreciate your 8 year old videos either way. 👍
@ralphy608verga7 I cleaned the sensor out, no improvement. So I took it apart further. I'm changing plugs, changing coils, and I sent the fuel injectors to get cleaned. Now I just have to put it back together and hope that clears it up. Everything I'm doing is basic maintenance that should be done anyway, so it's not like I'm throwing parts at the problem. If the problem persists, I'll change the sensor because it was showing a slightly low output at the higher range limit.
@gtracerh I'm actually messing with mine right now I already got new coils and plugs ordered along with other general maintenance items that i planned on doing anyways before seeing this video I'm about to remove the sensor right now to clean it out and hope for the best. How hard is removing the injectors, and how much did they quote you? Good luck with the bike man. it's been well over a month since I've gone for a ride 🥲
@ralphy608verga7 removing the injectors was a major pain in the ass. Mostly because the screws for the fuel rail were so tight and soft at the same time, so I ended up stripping them bad. I managed to take them off with a lot of patience and effort using a vise grip and wd40. I highly suggest you try to take those screws out with a manual impact driver, which I didn't own at the time. I bought one now for any future projects. I sent the injectors out to clean at a place local to me in the SFV (Los Angeles) area. Charged me $25 per injector.
@gtracerh ok thanks for the info. I cleaned my sensor the other day with no improvement, so now I'm just waiting for my coils to come in. I just got my plugs today but haven't put them in yet. I might do it tomorrow. Good luck, man. I'll probably comment on here if I get it figured out.
Thanks man! I just bought a 04 R6 and sometimes I'll hear the fuel pump and the starter will work and sometimes not. I noticed that when I twisted the throttle then the pump started, so it might be the TPS. Another symptom is it would die as I was riding it and then a minute later it would start back up. I hope this is it.
cool video, I have to try this as mine is sitting at 17 - 95. a bit low on the top end. Having same symptoms you had. Only problem I have is if I adjust my idling the lower end moves up and down. I will try it and just adjust my idling down. before I do it.
hi did this actually fix the bike because mines been doing the same so I put in dia mode First when shut mine was 17 and open was 99 which is OK so I took the tps out and cleaned it and set it 15 and 97 which is in spec and touch wood took it out for a ride for around 15 miles and the bike is running sweet no idle issues nor bike just stalling when coming to a stop so hopefully it sorted 👍 cheers for the video 👍
Damn I have the same issue. Idle bouncing between 1200-1500 and after even 20mins ride it will still have a chance slowly to stall when near a stop change to neutral. I didn’t feel losing power and didn’t check mpg. I googled this issue but everywhere talked about carb sync, valve check, etc. will definitely go get a bottle of electronic cleaner and give it a try. Hope it gets solved
I wish my tps was this easy to get to, I have two and they're both in god awful positions under the airbox you can't even fit a tool down there to take them off.
@djcuden Mine would act up every now and them too. I would follow the tutorial to see if that helps or not. When your done, you should have your original factory settings which off the top of my head should be 17/96? I can't remember but I think thats right. These sensors seem to foul out every few thousand miles or so. I had to re-clean mine just the other day. It literally took 7 minutes. Good luck!
jricks, I cleaned the TBS following your excellent video and now my front lights won't come on and the bike won't start at all. I can smell fuel so I don't believe it's a fuel pump issue but it could be the starter.....not sure. Do you or anybody have any ideas?

Hey mate, just a question. My bike, cbr 600 rr 2004, is lately stalling in neutral at stops even clutched in and also while riding will lose power for a second or two or will jerk forward sometimes as I deccelerate. Do you have any idea what the issue might be? Thanks
Thanks for the video, I have issue with my 04-R6, the rpm stays near 2000! The tensioner is not even touching the idle adjustment. The Diag shows 18 and it was 16 before how to bring that down?
@@superbike_Geek Yes, the mechanic realign the throttle plates by filler gauge but he couldn’t sync with vacuum gauge as we don’t have it here! But the idle is perfect now but I still feel it should be sync with the vacuum gauges!
i got 16 to 94 but I do not have my exhaust connected just barely turn it on I know it was jumping around a little bit or is that a good thing or a bad thing

Hey jricks31. I noticed the o-ring was placed on one way before you took it off and you placed it on another way before you put it back on. Which way does it go back in? My tps o ring is flat on one side and has a groove on the other. Which way should it go back in? Flat side out or groove side out? I noticed you put it back in flat side out, but it would have been groove side out before you took it off when you took off the tps. You know what I mean? Appreciate the help.
S Oliver I guess It's a darn good-tootin' thing the flashlight was able to illuminate the flip of the o ring for you here Oliver so you would have the correct thematic structure wherewith to make observations about the problem you have encountered with the two-facedness of your very own o-ring.
the tps must be adjusted by hand using the holding screws...and thats not the way to veryfying it in diag mode...you have to go very very slow on throtle to look for dead spots....yeah...first time riders...
