One doesn't need to know how to perform an art-form to share critical comments about it. I have heard lot of great Ustads and Pandits say that.."pehele Kaan-sen fir taan-sen"..."sunna hi aadha sikhna hhota hai"... There would be no artistes if there are no listeners, so nobody should ever try to undermine the art of a listening.
This is recording of 1991 -- a fairly high quality recording - recorded in US -- . But sadly even today, in India, most revered music concerts' good quality videos audios are not present despite availability of high quality recording systems ... ex. savai gandharv mahotsav at pune. Not blaming any1 but just an observation.
Pravin Joshi because they do not appreciate good recording engineers. Beginning form scratch the auditorims aren't properly built inside out and then the person behind the mixer has no clue what they are doing. Most of them have their jobs because of connections. I have witnessed this at most of the auditorims I've visited here in India. Unlike any of the foreign countries. Quality is their forte for any work. And qualified people getting jobs on basis of merit not setting under the table.

Did not expect to hear such beautiful ragadari from Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, he seems to really have it in him but instead chooses to perform popular antics. I also think the tonality of that guitar could be much improved. I think he has improved it because newer recordings have a richer sound from the instrument.
I have always considered Vishwa Mohan Bhatt to be an exceptional musician. When he is serious, he is powerful. I just dislike his gimmicks, which he does more nowadays, especially since the grammy. If I didnt like him at all I wouldnt bother to listen to any of his performances.
Deepa ji in my opinion people like you are why third rate part time singers are called Pandit and Ustad and never criticized. We should learn from the Carnatic community and criticize our musicians when they deserve criticism. Criticism from rasikas is important to maintain quality. Criticism also does not mean you hate or disrespect someone. Also, since when does anyone need to be good at something to criticize it? If your doctor gave you the wrong treatment that made you ill, would you accept `you dont know anything about medicine` as a response from them?
I am the best listener in the world, my best listener in the world certificate is currently being processed. Why does it make you so mad if I criticize an artist?
Humble request I have requested before too and have not seen any change. Please amend to Ustad Sukhvinder Singh Pinky, not Pandit Namdhari. That is not how the world knows them and not how they should be addressed.
