This video will be the first of several updates as I send more rounds through the Vent 3. This is at the 500-1000rd mark, which I am currently at. PTR recommends cleaning around the 1500rd mark for centerfire rifles. So, as my round count got higher, I wanted to keep you guys updated on any changes in the tone or performance. I will follow up with this at around 1500 - 2000rds and see if we notice any difference, as well as more rds. I didn't just go straight to 5k-10k because this is my personal suppressor, and I didn't intend on solely using it for content, I also wanted to enjoy it.
The PTR Vent 3 has had a lot of concerns online when it comes to how well its sound suppression performance will hold up over time, given the design of the suppressor. Neither the other guys nor I noticed any difference at all between the sound signatures of these two suppressors at my current round count. My goal was to hopefully give people a little more confidence in this cans abilities. As it sits I am still thoroughly impressed with PTR and their lineup of suppressors! Thank you for watching and stay tuned for more.

Great video and concept however 500-1000 rounds is like one range trip for some people. I would like to see this test after 5-10k rounds. I am definitely considering buying one of these. Keep the updates comming

Thank you, that definitely makes sense! I meant this to be a status update as I go with the suppressor, I will definitely do another round of testing as I mentioned at the higher round count! The Vent 3 is recommended to be cleaned at around 1500rds, so in my head I expected to potentially hear a difference at or around that point if that was their recommendation which was why I made the video at what most would consider an extremely low count.

@@TylersGuns I’m glad you thought of this. I’m sure there are a lot of us that are hesitant to spend that much on a can with very little info out there. Thanks for being the guinea pig on this one. I’m subscribed so I’ll keep my eyes out for the next update. Thanks again

Good video Tyler, id say youll recognize a difference once youve fired 1,500-2000 rounds, mostly in weight though. The sound difference that some carbon build up will make, isnt really recognized by the human ear as well.
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
Thank you! I will be following up with another video at a higher round like 1500-2000 to see! Definitely you could potentially notice the weight difference but only if you had a brand new one right next to it I would say with the slow build up you probably wouldn't notice it as easily over time in your hands.
@JohnZ556
@JohnZ556 Месяц назад
Good video. 20g of difference sounds really high tho. The one thing that can lead to inaccurate results is that you didn't actually weigh your suppressor before use, so we don't know if that 20g difference is even remotely accurate. A big portion of that could be the tolerance between two cans and two mounts.
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
@@JohnZ556 so I actually did weigh mine I did after about 100rds (unfortunately I was too excited to shoot it that i didn't weigh it immediately out of the box) and it weighed 387 grams on that same exact scale with the direct thread adapter from PTR not the Rearden. So 384 is right on the money for brand new unfired.
@JohnZ556
@JohnZ556 Месяц назад
@@TylersGunsThanks for clarifying, I guess that titanium foam really soaked up that nastiness along with the noise.
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
@@JohnZ556 it definitely builds up in the can but from what I can tell atleast so far it doesn't effect the sound suppression! We'll see as I get to a higher round count.

Great video, any chance of you shooting this on an AR-15 platform in 22 ARC? Or if you have how did you feel it compared to a 5.56 in the AR-15 platform in regards to sound suppression. Thank you!
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
As of right now I don't have a 22 ARC so I wouldn't be able to do it currently but based on my experience shooting my 6 ARC with the CAT JL and then shooting that same can on my 5.56 I would say the sound suppression difference would be almost indistinguishable to the human ear.

I don't think .706oz (as opposed to .7 lbs) is enough of a difference to really tell anything. It also doesn't help that you're shooting outside. Modern cleaning practices for folks don't even tend to kick in unless you have at least 1 oz of weight increase. Typically 1.5-2oz.
@PrayingPanda
@PrayingPanda Месяц назад
Also some carbon in your cans supposedly makes them perform better.
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
So the reason for this being such a low round count is that PTR recommends cleaning at the 1500rd mark given the sponge like design of the baffle system. This was meant to be a status update as I get to that mark and surpass it. This suppressors "PPP" technology is first in the game so my testing isn't going to be holding it to the RC2s cleaning and maintenance schedule. I am sticking to the rd count marks in accordance to PTR not your typical industry standards, because it is not your typical suppressor.
@PrayingPanda
@PrayingPanda Месяц назад
@@TylersGuns true. And I'd be interested in seeing the weight difference between a brand new one/recorded unfired weight vs at 1.5k/3k/4.5k and beyond. Hopefully since there's 2 cans you can keep one uncleaned. How large are the "sponge" holes at the end of the can? If they were to be clogged could you simply unclog all of them with a paperclip or a tak?
@TylersGuns
@TylersGuns Месяц назад
@@PrayingPanda So the brand new one isn't mine it's a shop demo from Bauer Precision. But I did record my weight when I first got it on my scale and it was the same as the new one that we weighed. So atleast I have a baseline now and I will continue to weigh it as I shoot more. And the holes are actually decently sized in relation to how much carbon it would take to clog them completely. PTR recommends soaking the can either in a solution or in an ultrasonic cleaner as the best way to maintenance them.
