I was able to find full recipe located in her caption at the link as well as the recipe for Sofrito. 1 lb of ground beef 8 oz tomato sauce 3/4 cups of Puerto Rican Sofrito 1/4 cup of Spanish olives 1 pack of Sazón with achiote 2 bay leaves 1/2 tsp adobo all-purpose seasoning with pepper 1/2 tsp of garlic powder 1/2 tsp of onion powder
It looks delicious but as many videos, when the presenter speaks a list of ingredients, for some magic reason they lower their voice when listing the last ingredient. what did she say after garlic powder? 😮
Hi Carlos, great feedback! I'll make sure to emphasize the ingredients better moving forward. Please see the link below for the full recipe. www.domesticgourmet.com/quick-and-easy-puerto-rican-picadillo/
I didn't know Puertoricans made picadillo...not while I was living there in the 70s. this is more Cuban style. Puertoricans make carne molida con papas...it's almost the same thing but cooked different.
You are correct in saying "Puerto Ricans call it carne molida", however, this preparation was taught to me by both my mother-in-law and husband who are born and raised Puerto Ricans. I am both Puerto Rican and Cuban and it's the Cuban in me that calls it "Picadillo", my mistake. Both preparations of Picadillo and Carne Molida are similar, however, the Puerto Rican version is saucier and the Cuban version adds gold raisins. Potatoes are optional in either dish, for this quick weeknight meal, I decided to omit because potatoes take more time to prepare. I hope that helps!
