Muchas gracias. Carlos Luis Parrilla, CSC
Great video I love anything to do with the sea or nautical, I will add this to my list of places to visit some day.. There seems to be many hidden gems to visit in PR that just don't get the traffic they deserve, I still remember visiting El Museo De Arte in Ponce I went with my parents as I must of been only 6yrs old but the paintings were so fantastic and the museum itself so beautiful that I still have that memory.
Ay el museito ninguno de mis ex jefe que ha estado en la alcaldía de San juan ni Carmen Yulin y mucho menos miguel romero no han incentivado esa iniciativa nosotros siendo un punto estratégico militar comercial y siendo una isla.
I prefer to stay away from political discussions. However, history is history, and there’s no denying it. I found the museum to be both enlightening and entertaining. The personnel is knowledgeable and friendly. In a word, it was "great”.
Actually, the original name of the island was San Juan Bautista and its first settlement was called Caparra. Ponce De León couldn't stand the mosquitos in Caparra so he and his family started looking for new digs. Besides, the location of Caparra wasn't as good as what we now call “San Juan Islet”. So they packed up their stuff and headed across the bay. As for the names, the Island was renamed Puerto Rico by Juan Ponce de León in 1508 and the new capital (by then in San Juan Islet) was named San Juan in 1521. So technically San Juan was born 1521. In any case, I mention these things because many continentals like to brag that they have the oldest city in America, when in fact Saint Agustine is 60 years younger than San Juan. And here's a little piece of trivia for you. Did you know that there are 46 other places in the world called Puerto Rico? That's right!!! There's even one in La Coruña Spain, which is probably where the name originated. Thanks for watching!
