I'm loving that you mentioned Jarretaderas "Jarretas" for short. An awesome little local village (where i live) & love with a great past and present history of struggle & success. It's 100% authentic and the locals are the real deal. It greatly contrasts the rapidly developing NuevoNayarit. So many don't have the nerve to explore as it contrasts all the new development & literally & physically is shadowed by eL Monstruo Vidanta. Great food as you mentioned, on Tues has a great open air mercado (best deal in all of Nayarit). An awesome catholic church and park plaza just across the street. Buy some fresh tortillas, special mention to Mama' Nena's (to eat). Explore the area.... Muchas Gracias your always welcome back 😘🇲🇽

Very good video! We look forward to our October visit. On our last visit, my partner missed a step in a local store and fractured her hip quite badly. She spent four days in a hospital and had superb care. Google translate was our best friend - my four years of Spanish didn't include medical terms lol. And Uber. Cannot say enough. Why better than Taxi's? Because Uber drivers get the best fares when they have full stars. They rely on delivering you safe and happy. I took 10 Ubers in four days and everyone was fantastic. Full tips to all the drivers. We literally made it to that Church in Centro and one store so we definitely look forward to actually seeing the place next time!! Oh! And we had a Vallarta Adventures planned and that had to be cancelled. They not only refunded our money BUT the VA guys met our Uber at the Airport and arranged someone to take her through customs and the paperwork in her wheelchair and they took excellent care of us. Love that area.

Just got back from 5 days (Oct 2023) in PV. My main complaint was the heat. I am 73 and found it hard to take, as very little air-conditioning is available. It was 90 degrees everyday, which isn't bad, but the humidity was like 95% and you just don't stop sweating. BTW, we took a water taxi to Yelapa to the beach and waterfall. Some guy there had the biggest iguana I have ever seen, and I actually held it. We stayed in a villa a little South of the Romantic Zone below the Hyatt. It was beautiful but a little old and needed maintenance and I did fall walking down the stone steps they had at the villa (there was no rail). It took us 57 steps to get up to the street level. Whew! Great video, BTW. I probably won't be going back as it was a little 3rd worldy to me.

The title of the video gave me a real chuckle. I’m endlessly amused by people who’ve lived in México for ten weeks or ten months and who propose to explain México to others. I first arrived to work in Mexico City in the year 1978. I’m a bilingual dual national and have studied Mexican history here at the university level, yet after all these years I only comment on my perspective of México if someone asks, and I always caution that it is my perspective, and others may feel differently. México is a profoundly complicated country with an incredibly diverse population and culture.
@TheirHappyTrails

Hi Lee! We agree, Mexico is incredibly diverse with a fabulous culture. I’ve been going since the 90’s and still feel like I’ve barely scraped the surface. This video was to simply lay out the basics of Puerto Vallarta for any travelers who had never been and who are thinking of going. Maybe you should create a more authentic and detailed version from your perspective? Doing our best and loving the journey… -Erika

I spent Christmas in Puerta Vallarta, just got back and it was awesome. Stayed at a friend's place, he's lived there for 5 years so he knew it all. The thing I liked most about it was the people. Mexicans are polite, kind, friendly and gracious. If you walk by anyone on the street and say "buenos dias" you will get a smile and a response. I am obviously American, no one is going to mistake me for a native, and I think they appreciate it when you speak to them in Spanish. If, like me, you really don't know more than that most of them will slip right into English without missing a beat. Cool video, have fun out there!

Hi! Erika here. Christmas in PV!? I bet that was incredible! We may just have to venture there for some winter holidays (wink wink to Matt 😬). Yes, the locals definitely outstanding their kind and welcoming energy. Couldn’t count the amount of times they either tried to help us with our Spanish or giggled as we attempted. So glad you had a wonderful experience as well! Cheers!

@@TheirHappyTrails yes around 1995 when Nuevo Vallarta was just being started. They were relentlessly trying to sell us a property there for Nuevo but at the time it just seemed like a dumb idea. The pv ciudad Centro and malecon was still wonderful and altho there was a large hotel at mismaloya it was still very pleasant and enjoyable. Another sunset in paradise.

It is just Vallarta to the locals. Nobody but tourists call it PV. Zones? If you really want to sound like you know what you are talking about, it's colonias, not zones. Colonias de Puerto Vallarta. Zones is a consumer label.

I love you guys! This I'd the first video of yours that I wwatched (girst of many im sure) and I'm totally in sync with your vibe (sounds so hippyish but it's true). I left a long comment to another comment from someone who seemed to have property for rent, which explains my current situation. Travel is such an emotional balm! I'm not all weepy (unless I'm at home, alone, which is the status quo I'm afraid; when I'm out I can be quite humorous and engaging (when I hit my groove,which becomes easier in my "advanced years"! I love making new friends.When I'm home, with dishes and laundry and weeding to do, it's easier just to take a nap, or several). Did you guess? Yes, I am clinically depressed, ok? I take meds, I have a therapist, a psychiatrist (for the meds), and lots of apps to ho me exercise, meditate, and God help me, get back to my beloved yoga practice. Ok I won't go on...where were we? Lol, is anyonwe still listening? Imma take a b🎉reak and brb. And please! I'd love to hear from you anytime!

@TheirHappyTrails
@TheirHappyTrails Год назад
That is a great topic! We plan on making a video for it, but in a nutshell, flights were easy to find and book just like any other flights. Once in route, instructions are pretty clear in regards of what to do at customs and with baggage. The main suggestion is once you arrive, walk past all the people asking to give you a lift and go outside. There you’ll find registers cab drivers and a line for taxis. OR if you’re up for saving a few hundred pesos, walk out of there airport and turn left, keep walking along the front of the building then turn left again. You’ll see the tunnel that goes over the highway and on the other side are drivers and Uber pick up spots for a fraction of the price, like half! Good luck and let us know if there’s anything else we can help with! -Erika
