Had a busy life lately with family matters ..car issues ..and routine doctor appointments ..so apology for delay...hope you enjoy the video

Brilliant as I am hoping to do this at the beginning of next week ( 17.06.24 ) weather permitting of course. Loved the Fosil Tree. Thanks for sharing Ray K UK YNWA.

Looking at the forecast..I would not go round Mull myself this coming week..its very exposed with strong tides on the exposed west coast and forecast is for winds gusting to 30 mph. Weather is too unsettled for me to go to the islands just now so biding my time around the loch ..However its your shout Ray..just take care especially Callaich and Treshnish Point. In part three you will see how quickly the wind gets up out there..even on a good forecast. Good to see you around again though :-D

I feel somewhat ashamed that i have never bothered to pass comment on any of your past videos although i have been subscribed for some time, however this recent film leaves me in no other position but to do so and as such i can only commend you on your absoloutly brilliant content. i ccan not believe that the likes of BBC Alba have not been in touch to commission a full blown series of your exploits. I for one and my family and friends love your productions and are all pretty much in agreement that not just your solo camera work is amazing, but your narration and soft lilting accent enhances the videography in a way that Attenborough does with his productions. I think this recent release has hit something of a chord with myself and family having spent 3 weeks on Mull last summer and being fortunate enough to be graced with what i can only describe as mediterranean weather to enhance the experience. I know we were super lucky with the weather last year as i have been visiting and holidaying in Scotland for over 35 years and have had all kinds of weather thrown at me. I first visited Scotland over 35 years ago to climb a route on Beinn Trilleachan on the slabs at the head of loch Etive called Spartan Slab, so my first image of Scotland was waking up, after driving up from the West Midlands past Loch Lomond etc down the Glen striking a camp at the head of the Loch all in the dark to be awoke by a huge stag braying on the shoreline at the head of the Loch you are lucky enough to call home. I have since over the last 35 years climbed and scrambled winter and summer all over the highlands. Even to the point that my wife and i arranged our wedding on the beach at Achmelvich Sutherland. Recently tho the start of fading Knees is giving way to time on the water and we find you a great inspiration with what your doing and production. Hopefully one day our paths might cross and we could share a can of gravy or two. PS it would be great if you could make more content further north or on the Outer Isles. Thank you

Thanks very much for your kind words aloosnackbar .. its comment like yours that keep me wanting to make more videos. I sometimes watch the climbers of Trilleachan slabs when Im up there fishing. Sadly my brother's mate died descending the gully to the left of the climbs after going up one of the climbs. I have not been on the slabs myself but clambered around the hills and cliffs in glencoe..many years ago. My feet are well past the munroes now but I still visit the lost valley etc. I have one or two videos of up north..including Loch Torridon .. Loch Laxford .. Summer Isles ..Handa etc..but mostly early attempts and some of my first videos .. so with no narration .. but still worth a watch. Thank you too 😀

Always worth waiting for part 2 , a thought it was some huge guy's ribs until you explained it's a 50 mil fossel tree , you must have X ray eye's to see all these rocks which always terrified me at low tide whenever I'm in a strange place. I never forget at Dunbar the creel boat was well inside and I was in 20ft in my wee boat when all of a sudden the sounder said zero ! I looked across east towards torness at low tide and I'll swear I never saw it before sticking up 12 ft plus. In 20 years😂. Thanks again for your great videos. Am looking forward to part 3

Lucky you to have fingals cave to yourself. It was full of aggressive tour boats when I kayaked there. Can you point me to info on a suitable running mooring for a small rib? Thanks
@donnywilcox
@donnywilcox 9 часов назад
Hi nick..yup..I was in the cave around 7am ..a few hours before the tour boats arrive. They take no prisoners nor care about the wake that can rock small boats. I think you have to buy the parts yourself and make the running mooring..its just an anchor and a long loop of rope. I use a buoy and a bit of tubing to stop the loop of rope twisting round itself..and will hopefully put a quick video together of how I do it ..hope that helps..and it will be a few weeks before I get it videoed :-D

Hi Donny, another great video of an area which I know quite well which gives it an added spice. I will be stopping in the white cottage opposite Inch Kenneth again this July/August and regular kayak up the Ardmeanach coast line. I have also kayak/camped on the little beach you stopped at on Ulva a few times, fortunately no ticks but this vid and part1 has put me right off camping here again. It may seem a daft question but is there anything you can spray on the ground before pitching your tent to kill the little beggars?
@donnywilcox
@donnywilcox 12 дней назад
I spray my ankles with DEET and tuck trousers into socks Alex. I still get a lot of bites though..not adult ticks..those tiny nymphs ..when they hatch out and Im unlucky to camp on a "nest" not much can be done ? Although unpleasant..I have never had Lymes although I was unwell last year after getting around 30 tick attached to me in one night. Doc assured me its wasnt the ticks that took my energy away. So I still keep going though and so far this year have "only " had around 20 bites. They are that small the tick twister cant get them out but tweezers do. Dont let them put you off ..just be aware they are there and cross your fingers :-D

@@donnywilcox Hi Donny, Thank you for the info, I remember the video when you got around 30 ticks on you. The next time I go I will carefully examine the grass before I pitch the tent and put a large ground sheet down in effort to prevent/minimise ticks attaching to my shoes and getting carried in to the tent. Also, put the tent up with my dry suit still on then on completion, jump in the sea. I will also take a pair of tweezers rather than the “twister” which I use on my dogs.
