Known for their table fare and the opportunity to catch them during June and July when other seasons are closed the Puget Sound resident coho fishery targets only resident coho that remain in this area year-round. Not to be confused with migrating coho, which are much larger, the resident fish are provided for sport and a blast to catch on light tackle. Hey Pautzke, if your ever back in north carolina you should try lake nantahala, it has stripers, trout, coho salmon its a ton of fish there that would be a cool video to see everything caught in 1 lake!

What's considered "light" tackle for these smaller coho? Been using my summer gear for them and it's not that fun, kills all the fight in them. Had a blast catching one on the beach with a 6wt fly rod though

Why are those silvers jack sized?!??! Do you guys get the 10+ pounders? Up here in Alaska I caught some big ones that weight over 10lbs that’s crazyyyy

These are resident fish, we get 10 lb fish when the ocean coho come into puffy sound to go into the rivers to spawn

Average size for a Puget Sound Coho in September including the ocean fish is around 4-8lbs. But we do get some ten plus pounders, and the derby winner last year was just shy of 17
