@@MrLandslide84 I'll +1 one that from the UK, they will charge you an entry ticket before doing anything on the car. My local friendly garage does service me with a smile. Just give your money to someone who deserves it, audi dealers are salesmen, not mechanics.
I fabbed my own headers to put a 440 in my 68 Dart. Didnt realize it captured the starter until a year later, and had to not only halfway pull the trans, but lift the engine a few inches and unbolt the header to get the starter out. Next time, Ill buy the $600 headers lol... I feel the pain!!
@@chrisleggett685 no, but had to put in a manual box. I started with a set of B body headers and hacked em to fit. Maybe today they exist, but back then I think if you wanted a big block A-body, you were losing your power steering, I think even with the TTIs...
That is how it's done if the engine didn't blow up and need to be replaced. This one blew up though, so we were admiring the engineering and starter replacement if the engine was in the car still.
Tell me about it Mike, this is an engine swap and we were looking at it wondering what a starter R&R will look like when it goes bad. Looks pretty bad to us?
They are crazy to work on in many repairs for sure. This one we had the engine out of anyway so just having some fun with how silly the engineering is.
Cars are not getting any easier to work on. Especially brands from Germany. I won't own a German car over 2010. It's sad . They make cars a dealer service only or parts that are insane to replace. If they ain't consumer friendly then I'll just stick to my fleet of pre 2010 cars and trucks
