"Let's correct this behavior." "Why can't you just be normal." "You put on a mask, and pretend to be someone else." Shit got a little too real jesus christ
Yeah man society should never try to correct people wanting to be serial killers. This is unironicaly a argument for conversion therapy even if it didn't work better than letting your child act like a sadistic sociopath than to even try to curb it.
"And then, I fell in love with Izuku Midoriya". ❤ Make me giggle a little bit, after all that time to hear her saying that. But nonetheless the tension between Ochaco and Toga is definitly there. And the animations just have been better and better every episode!
I remember seeing this excerpt from an interview with Ayane Sakura (Uraraka's Japanese voice actress) on the subject of recording this episode: "I was crying the whole time. During the recording I could barely see the words on the script and I barely remember anything. Only Toga-chan's face on the storyboard is burned into my mind. It wasn't so much acting, but I felt like I was living. I think there were relentless retakes, but I don't remember them very well. I won't know which take was chosen until it airs. During the break, I felt relieved when my seniors praised me, saying 'that was amazing', and then I faced the script again, heartbroken, and cried... It was a continuous cycle. For some reason, Fukuen-san _[Misato Fukuen, Toga's VA]_ looked refreshed and laughed, saying 'Ayane-chan, why are you crying so much,' which was hard on me, so after the dubbing was over I walked around the city and cried alone for a while."
4:44 "help", to me it seemed more like convertion therapy, supressing herself and her wants to fit into society as normal, not to help hwr like actual therapy does, help her live with others as she is, help hwr understand how things work and how.she can be herself while living with others
I think it's worth noting in both the bird and her friend, yeah she was interested in blood, but she made it clear she didn't actively harm them to make them bleed
*If I had a nickel for every time Uraraka made me cry like this, I would have a lot actually. But between this and her speech last season... :,) Toga finally got the love and validation that she needed and deserved all this time. If I’m being honest, despite everything she’s done, I do feel incredibly sorry for Toga. She was unfairly ostracized for how she expressed her love, but now, she’s finally met someone who accepts her.*
Well regarding the bird, her killing it seemed to be an accidental consequence of her trying to be affectionate towards it. Cause in season 5 we see this same flashback and the bird IS alive when she finds it. And when she starts sucking on it, it’s alive too. But this episode reveals that the bird was dead afterwards. It’s easy to piece together that Toga accidentally killed it.
I understand Toga’s struggles like having a quirk like that won’t exactly get you a normal life. It’s really sad to watch tbh and I’m happy our girl was able to get through the to her. When Toga said the last remnant of twice was disappearing I cried bc I loved him sm and this truly was the last I would see of his character 💔. That’s what I love about the villains in the show that they aren’t just one dimensional villains they have backstories that makes uo sympathetic to them but they are still villains.
This episode breaks my heart every time I watch it. Especially knowing how Himiko has said multiple times that drinking blood is how she shows love, so her drinking the blood of the bird and her friend was just someone trying to show compassion, affection, and care to someone who was injured and having her actions not being understood. When we're introduced to Himiko, she comes off as something of a delusional sadist, someone who gets off on the pain and suffering of others. To have all of that recontextualized and showing her as someone who had a tremendous capacity to love and care for others, to literally have her say that because of her quirk she feels love for EVERYONE and that was just twisted by the world's rejection of her, is a brilliant piece of writing. Like, so much of how Himiko behaves and understands the world is informed by her parent's attitudes which she has deeply internalized. She sees love as being synonymous with cruelty and violence because that was how she experienced the "love" her parents expressed for her. She is desperately vocal about seeing herself as a normal girl, the exact quality her parents demanded from her as they called her an inhuman monster. She expresses love for herself and her quirk but also tries to escape being herself constantly by becoming the people she loves because she probably has a deeply ingrained self-hatred from her childhood. She is such a beautifully tragic character and her arc with Ochako is hands down my favorite in the series in terms of how well it plays to the themes central to MHA's story.
As someone who values trying to understand people to the best of one's ability, this episode actually made me tear up a bit. I already loved Ochako from the beginning of the series but gosh the maturity she undergoes with every season up to this episode makes her such an amazing character❤
New fanfic idea for anyone with the skills to do so: Himiko Cullen, raised in their family, she lives off animal blood and then transforms into the animals she feeds off living in the wild free

That thumbnail... holy heck the anime reached that faraaa I remember reading (I'll need to check) that they were like...made for each other 16:00 ....wait.. Oh my _gosh_ they stopped right there??
Damn, you laid out my feelings on Toga to a T. As someone like you who has worked a lot with kids, it frustrates me to no end that her parents and that therapist (seriously, who calls a child perverted??) will likely never be held accountable for the way they treated her, or even come to realize that they were wrong about her. From the start, Toga was always a person who was bursting with love for others, and passion for life. There is no reason why it had to be this way. Absolutely none. And yes.....this all felt very yuri to me too 👀I mean, we already know that Toga's queer.....😁
The way togachako sky rocketed in my shop list lol. I used to ship them since their first interaction and then Horikoshi gradually started giving so much content of them!! His sketches of them are so beautiful too
Shipping aside, Toga's story is such an obvious queer allegory. Being told she was born wrong, her parents wishing she was "normal," just wanting someone to accept her and treat her nicely, desperately wanting her parents to help and accept her, sending her away to get "fixed" by someone, ect. Horikoshi isn't subtle with his allegories and this is very on the nose. As a queer person it's very relatable. She literally just wanted someone to listen and accept her and could have been one of the most valuable heroes if she was treated nicely by even one person when growing up. Instead she turned into a villain who, outside of AFO, could have destroyed the entire world.
If this is what queer people relate to then that is pretty much a red flag. Toga assulted and borderline raped people but I guess since she is just such a quirk girl its ok. People like this gives the fandom a bad name.
@@samuelclayhills3298 Wow you sure are projecting. I love that you included "borderline rape" which didn't happen whatso-fucking-ever in this storyline too. Just because I mentioned queer people. You clearly didn't read my comment and were looking to rage about something totally unrelated. I hope you get the help you seem to need.
Everyone I didn’t mean to bring this part up about a certain female killer character I know who who actually did went to death row when himiko toga mentioned how when she gets captured she’ll be lock into a cell for a very long time and soon be put to death row for her murderous crimes to me that of She said that she thinks it would happen to her, which to me it might kind of remind me of that female slasher from a horror movie who went into death row, and that horror show and these were her famous words…….. My mother always says love will set me free. From T I just wanted to say that
Iamzamber! Did you watch my hero academia you’re next movie! On theaters with my dad on Tuesday! They might make a spin-off of my hero academia! They have the manga! Spin-off in my hero academia!
Ochako x Himiko... honestly this episode won me over to this ship lol, i just wanted them to hug XD they honestly might have more chemistry than Izuku and Ochako
