Pulling Spouts from the Maple Trees 

Anybody who watches your videos and understands the amount of work that goes into making syrup...or farming in general should gladly pay the market rate. That stuff is liquid gold.

I’ve learned so much watching your videos. I used to go fishing in Ontario every year. In one spot we always saw the main lines and the building for a maple syrup operation. I wondered how it all worked. Now I know!

White electrical tape . If you are tired of the black sticky goo that electrical tape leaves behind when you go to use your taps next year , go to an electrical supply house ( or Amazon )and buy some white electrical marking tape . Very good video thanks for taking us along . There are some nice Gobblers down here in the southern tier of New York .

I'm sure that maple farming is the same as us crop farmers, lot's of long hard days, and nights, big investments and of course little profits but it has it's own rewards that only a farmer would understand.

Not very many ladies like you around anymore some of you can out work most guys your one of them .glad I found your channel.i love it in the woods too.i have 2 cricks. Creaks .streams you know what I mean that run through my farm like to walk them always some kind of wild life around .I knew maple syrup was alot of work but holy cow .will you have stuff washed and wrapped up by corn planting time .were planting oats and alfalfa here in michigan right now .take care hope you feel better randy .

Always enjoy your videos. Subscribed and "Liked". I've also pulled all of my taps from my 50 Red Maples. (A hobby for me here in northern MN). Tapped some Birch after pulling the Maple. Low sugar in Birch sap so I ROed to between 4 and 5%..... then evaporated. Birch syrup is very different. Still sweet but also savory. Not for pancakes in my opinion, but good for glazes or meat injections.

You mention returning to wash and sanitize the drop lines - do you keep them from year to year or have some kind of rotation for new taps / drops? Enjoy the videos!

Love the work ethic and definitely envy you and your job. But it baffles me how all the lines stay even running for more than a day? I come from the prairies where there are lots poplars, those things shed branches like hair!

So with the quick disconnect fittings, now an open is in the lines. Wondered how you would clean the bush with these open lines?

Nikki, I hope you do a video on the cleaning and sanitizing of the drop lines. I would like to keep my tubes attached to my spiles if possible, but I'm not sure if I can safely do that? This is my 1st season making syrup. I really appreciate your videos! I must say, you a the prettiest teacher that I have ever had!

Just wondering what the benefits are from removing the hole drop, vs just the tap?

I used to love working in woodlots at this time of year! No bugs and not too hot.

Why do you disconnect the drop lines instead of sanitizing them on the line? And then just storing the spouts in a health T drop line fitting?

Did 'old timers' ever plug the tap holes, especially when they used bigger taps? Have you ever seen lumber that has tap holes in the boards? I have some from Vermont and the staining is very attractive. Haven't figured out what to make out of the wood------
