The "lanyard hole" you pointed out is the release for the blades. You don't need to take the screws out to change the blade. Just need to lift up the release and the blade slides right out.
I mean people on the internet hate on this thing like shit but honestly it is a puma knife (with the buying options now) that costs 60€ for the system and 25-40 for a blade that is as far as puma is concerned cheap
I have rather a Böker Optima than this "modern" White hunter. It looks terrible with the Stag horn sticking out of the metal handle. I have both, the Optima and the white hunter from 1973 and they are great knives, but this is in my opinion crap.
