It would be soooo cool to hear a dark history of Disney World/Land and how people go missing/die/secrets behind the amusement parks! The sinister energy is there
Fun fact: Starbucks failed in my city in Australia so now we don’t have a single Starbucks location. It lost to all of the independent local coffee stores!
As a small business coffee person, I find it really interesting how some super small businesses have consciously gone to compostable cups, but major corporations still haven't been able to find out how to do that.
They don’t care! That’s why I always shop at small local companies. Leave my money local, helps my community and I think we should all start doing this❤️
The 7/11s in Chicago have paper coffee cups, wooden stirrers and while the slurpee/big gulp cups are plastic, the straws are biodegradable and wrapped in paper. It's not perfect but they continue to take steps. And its the only place I know that you can get an extra large hot drink of any kind for under 3 bux. That includes chai tea, lattes, hot chocolate and usually 3 or 4 kinds of coffee and a self serve coffee bar with flavored creamers and syrups, honey, cinnamon, sugar, Splenda, stevia and more at no extra charge. They are open 24/7 and employ several people on each shift. I don't know if they "care" and frankly I don't care whether they do or not. Im just glad they are taking steps to eliminate plastic.
I worked at Starbucks for 6 years and I have a PLETHORA of stories. I refuse to step foot into a Starbucks because of their poor business practices. I’m so happy to see Bailey talk about them, I honestly think she could dive deeper because there’s so much more. 😭 But thankfully it’s being talked about. She’s a real one for that.
SAME!! I was only there for half a year because I couldn't take it anymore, got it once or twice in a pinch but now can't bring myself to anymore. Dare I say I'd search tooth and nail for a local roaster and risk my coffee addiction than go to Starbucks due to their practices.
Maybe you should make a video & like hide your face / change your voice so Starbucks can’t come after you (if you signed a NDA while working there, if not the coast is clear for you to rip them apart 😂)
Everything on earth, even created in a lab, can be called “natural.” Unless the compounds came from outer space, it came from earth, in some form. Hence, it came from nature, naturally.
I’m BEGGING you to do a dark history episode on palm oil. Been avoiding it like plague for years now but lately it has become even more complicated as I’m noticing more brands switching to palm oil 😢
It’s more frequently used now bc it’s used as a, “natural” preservative. Which is better than most preservatives. It’s not bad for you in moderation. BUT, the trade and process of it is disgusting. I feel for countries and animals harmed by deforestation 😔
Sorry for your loss, Bailey😢 grief is so tricky bc we never know when it will hit. Remember to take care of yourself, we want you healthy and at peace💚
I love my Dutch Bros. They are very community oriented, my local owner donated for my relay for life team, and while my daughter was in the hospital after chiari surgery they sent a mocha to me everyday thru my eldest with "stay strong mom" written on it and several punch cards full for her for after her recovery.
I lost my pet two days ago. Going thru all the motions. As weird as it sounds, hearing horrific stories makes other scary stuff not so bad - I've been binging MMM and DH since. Pets should live forever, and not just in our hearts, but with us. I really miss his her. She meant a lot to me. Thank you
I'm so sorry for your loss 😢 I just adopted 2 puppies. I never had a growing so I'm a first time pet owner. My babies are barely 8 weeks old, I've been visiting often and just brought them home thus past Sunday 😊 I can not imagine my life without them now! May the memories of your pet baby be a blessing ❤ hugs 🤗
I am so sorry. I know what you are going through and totally understand what you mean about horror stories. Pets are family. I love my fur kids with all my heart (and they are my kids). Today (well yesterday as of midnight) would have been the 11th anniversary of when I brought my little special needs dwarf kitty, Neener, home. We had her for 10 years, but lost her several months ago. It has been so hard not having her around. She was my little miracle. Cats with her conditions rarely make it past a few weeks or months, and if they do you are lucky to have them around for 3-7 years with complications. Neener beat the odds in so many ways. She was my special baby. *hugs* 💔
Bailey!!! Please do Dark History on: 1. Aliens and CIA’s efforts to hide them 2. Disney (but the history with abused child actors, I know you did the cartoon one) 3. Jehovah witnesses 4. Feet binding 5. Fraternities/Sororities
@@jackie9090I once got to hold an antique shoe that belonged to a woman with bound "lotus" feet. It was 200 years old and still smelled like the herbs they had to use to keep gangrene at bay mixed with rot. The weirdest thing about this impossibly tiny shoe (2.5 inches long) was the wear on the sole, where you could see someone had shuffled around in it, the staining on the lining from ointments they needed. I wanted to share because foot binding affected millions of little girls who became women, seeing that little tiny brocade shoe broke my heart and changed me. It made it so real, so recent. Sorry this turned into an essay, take care when reading about cruelty. ❤
I worked for Sbux for 4 years & MAN have I been waiting for someone to spill this tea!! 😂 Just listening to this has inspired me to pursue my dream of opening my own coffee/bakery shop even more than I already have been over the years
If you're not Australian let your staff know that we Aussies have ps lattes in spring😂 we also have the Christmas blends in summer haha try it out one day
@@olegurrlwhy is that dumb? This is their spring time right now. And Christmas is their summer. That’s how seasons work in the southern hemisphere. It’s not fall/winter for the entire world. 🤣
You should do one on Dunkin! I know it’s pretty similar but the dark history behind it would be awesome! I worked there for 15 months and would love to spill a few secrets if you would be interested :)
Hey! After moving to Panama and seeing how so many coffee farmers were treated, we started our own coffee company The Morning Movement (yes the name has multiple meanings 😂) for so many reasons that you’ve laid out. We wanted to support coffee farms that weren’t abusing child labor or underpaying indigenous coffee farmers. We could go ON and ON about this topic, it’s definitely a dark one the deeper you go. Thank you so much for bringing light to this!
So, I was working at a “We Proudly Serve” Starbucks account as a barista when the dark history Nestle episode came out not long before Nestle purchased Starbucks. I was there for 4yrs. I now work at a small locally own coffee shop who buys their beans from a fair trade roaster.
@@heidih3048 I know because my boss is very careful in choosing all of his ingredients and distributors but, either way it’s local so it’s overall better than Starbucks no matter if there is hard proof or not.
My husband, who used to work for Starbucks for 6 years and hated his life while there, now works for a chocolate factory turned cafe called Monsoon Chocolate based out of Tucson, AZ - their chocolate and coffee beans (as far as I know) are ethically sourced and prepped with passion from a great team of like, less than 10 people in the shop. I highly recommend the chocolate covered mangoes 🤤
Nice! I wonder if Bailey will ever get into the cobalt mines in Africa and what these tech companies are doing to those kids to make batteries and sun panels. Expose the grift behind the solar and wind power scam.
@@jessicaberry815 the factory itself is on 22nd and 4th, the cafe is on Dodge and Fort Lowell 😁 as of rn they're not open Mondays and Tuesdays despite talks of being open all 7 days soon. We shall seeeeee but yeah check em out! The cafe has expanded to stocking interesting small business grocery items as well, my husband has brought home some amazing new snacks like black truffle kettle chips 🤤

Yes to part 2 Disney! Also, what they put on the paper cups (basically all paper cups to make them able to hold liquid because paper alone won’t do that) is super toxic.
When Starbucks came to Melbourne I avoided it. We have a huge coffee culture here. Me and my friends decided to bite the bullet and try it. We took two sips, and binned it. Needless to say, Starbucks started closing stores really quick here, only a few little cafe ones left. Will never touch that garbage again. If you want to taste real coffee Bailey, come to Australia!
I for one am very grateful that you pointed out the fact that Starbucks food and drinks all have a lot of calories and SUGAR. Im a Starbucks employee and believe it or not, I have actually had conversations with customers who are under the impression that Starbucks is THE "healthier" option.
I used to work at Starbutts and they’re the phoniest company ever. Their “make the moment right” policy has lead to the most entitled customers I have ever dealt with in all my years of experience in the service industry. They literally reward customers for being Karens.
Ha, you changed the name of the company to make it funny, so clever, and a sick burn! I remember name calling when I was like 8, but then I grew up. Oh, not to worry though, I'm sure you will grow up one day as well.
I could never work there. Most retail abuse I ever dealt with was freaking ToysRUs... crazy thinking as many people had no problem calling employees every name in the book in front of their kids. We had a Starbucks in our parking lot, always busy, and often frequented by fellow employees (even when leave R Us and went to Michael's) That location had a wonderful staff, only a few times they were out an ingredient, I never went crazy rather I asked for a similar anything. They always made sure i tried it and liked it before paying. Never did I not like a suggestion. Once time there was extra foam from the P cream cold brew, they gave me the small cup full ❤. I always tipped 5.00 about the price of whatever venti. Around Christmas I made ornament shaped resin keychains with a xmas moch logo, custom ordered Starbucks ribbon and added coffee grounds to the backgrounds and painted the ornament top Starbucks green & and put 10 in the tip jar. The smiles and thank yous were so genuine. *Retail is so rough at times due to entitlement of customers. I'm sorry you, myself and other food/ retail employees have to grin and bare it.
All the more reason to support your local shops! It’s basically standard these days for small shops to have fair trade sourced coffee beans. They put more care into the quality of drinks. I worked at Starbucks for three years and the quality keeps going down. The company only allows stores to have the minimum amount of hours they need to function, leading to short staffing and over worked employees. I watched so many people prioritize speed over quality of drinks because of pressure from management and higher ups.
My cousin's shop only uses organic coffee that's fair trade . They have the best coffee ever and it's always busy. Moved and tried a new shop. Definitely disappointed
How do we know that the small shops truly use fair trade coffee beans though? Just as Starbucks did, the small businesses may say it is fair trade without having true confirmation that it is actually fair trade. I think it is likely that most places claiming to use fair trade are not actually doing so. They are all for-profit businesses trying to maximize profits, after all, no matter whether they are a small company or a large one..
I currently work at Starbucks and I worked at one 3 years ago. We use less syrup for the same drinks and charge more for them now. Everyone told me it’s always been that way but I remember looking at the recipe cards and memorizing them.
Worked for Starbucks for 6 1/2 yrs- people really think it’s an amazing place to work. The amount of work we put into things isn’t seen. The hrs we put in.
We’re constantly understaffed and overworked, and the amount of work that’s expected from us is ridiculous. Not to mention the needy and entitled special snowflake customer base the company has cultivated. Working there drains me mentally, emotionally and physically and I cannot wait until I earn my degree so I can leave. Absolutely loathe that place. What upsets me most is that I’ve been witness to the change within myself over these two years since I first started as a hopeful and enthusiastic “partner.” I’m finding myself burnout and constantly cynical, had to increase my medication dosage, tried different methods of therapy and positive thinking and it’s not even helping because my problems are stemming from work and I’m stuck there for another few months.
I worked for three different locations throughout my life, and had a great experience at each one. I still have several friends who work there and have no issues. 🤷🏼♀️
“There’s always something depressing in the air and I LOVE IT” 🤣💀 same. P.S. Bailey, you have to look into Christina Boyer and her story. It would be the perfect Halloween upload 🎃
I had to give a presentation on Starbucks in a business class. The logo is not actually a mermaid. It's based off a 16th century Norse goddess of the sea, the 2 tailed siren.
@@amiyabutterfield I was giving the accurate description of the logo as per my research of the company, and a two-tailed siren is a different mythological creature than a mermaid.
Stopped buying Starbucks after 9/11.. ppl at GROUND ZERO after the first building collapsed ran to Starbucks for bottled water to rinse their eyes and the store was charging them.. literally stuff in ppls eyes and death everywhere and they still had the audacity to charge for water..
@@benrjy I feel like the milk alternative industry just now becoming as popular as it is not as many people would know about how bad it can be whereas the dairy industry has been around for ages and I really think you would be pretty hard pressed to find people who don't know about what the dairy industry does even if they don't care. Also people can care about more than one issue, not mentioning others when talking about one issue does not negate other problems. It's another conversation 🤷♀️
Been a partner for three years and honestly, for an entry level job it has been extremely helpful in attaining my goals supporting my life throughout college. But yes!!! The amount of waste that goes into any large corporation is astounding. Making your coffee at home with locally sourced beans would be the best possible small scale solution😌
Definitely do a video on the palm oil dark history, very very interesting!! Always Great work Beautiful Bailey!! You have been hitting the bullseye lately with these topics. You go girl!!! 😆 No, but you go girl!!!
As a former partner (sbux barista) , that mention of the “third place” triggered me! They drove that into your training! Also, the cups were the cheapest thing in the store because when you bring your own cup in they (I’m not sure if is still like this) take off TEN CENTS! You are paying for the name , sugar and ice.
I'm missing the live ones now though. I get why she had it playing during her time of grieving and moving but dang it was nice to have at night. Playlist isn't the same
I used to work for a Starbucks you should really see what goes on behind the scene. We we're one of the busiest stores in the world, after working there for 5 years I would never go to another one
At 43 I just got my first Pumpkin Spice Latte ever in life...from Paris Baguette. They really captured the spirit of the season, in a small paper cup. The Baguette never misses! 😂
I worked for Walgreens for 11 years and could see the steady decline from 2010 to 2021. My managers and co-workers that had been there since the 90s said it used to be an amazing place to work.
YESSSSS BARISTA SIBLINGS IN THE CHAT!!! (It’s been a rough ride). I worked between two stores (getting more hours at a “borrowed” store) and the second one closed down due to SO many unsafe circumstances and traumatizing things! 😃 so glad to see someone talking about it and making it more well known thank u Bailey love u mwah💖💕
If you are willing to pay $8-10 dollars for a cup of coffee, of course the corporation is gouging you, the supply chain and the environment. Excellent research bailey and team. That was tight and concise. Bailey's delivery is always spectacular and on point!
I stared hitting up my local roaster for their cold brew and it's literally only $4 for a 16oz and $5 for 24, not to mention it takes 1000x better since it's FRESH
I loooove this background, it’s so cozy and can we talk about how the pjs give a sense of besties hanging out at home telling each other stories, and the glam always on point❤
Thanks so much Bailey for this super interesting video and for raising awareness about these issues. We are an independent women-owned store in Poblenou, Barcelona. We stock fully-vegan products and we do takeaway coffee. The beans we use are from Alternativa 3, a co-operative based not far from us and that is Fair Trade certified and eco. Aaaand that's the end of our plug! Thanks again, Bailey for all you do! Besitos!
Whoop whoop the Queen Bailey Sarian has arrived to bless us with her presence and knowledge! As always you are a rockstar and stay true to you! Love you ❤️🐝🌻❤️
i would love to see a video about palm seed oil, actually about seed oils in general would be rly cool to learn more about. ive heard a few things here and there recently about the dangers of seed oils.
one of the starbucks in my town tried to unionize and the company tried to shut it down so much but failed!!! and now they’re the second unionized store in nc!!
Definitely recommend!! I hope you get to try it!! I was surprised they had all the ingredients when I went because I know they run out so fast this time of year lol
As a huge lover of starbies especially during PSL season this has opened my eyes so much! Thank you for informing us! I love learning so much from you! ❤
