Remember this is one cow out of literally dozens he trims in a day and a couple hundred in a week. 98% have no issues whatsoever!

I have absolutely zero connection to cattle, or to farms in general. I work in an office environment and was never exposed to farming or ranching as a child. All that to say, I am completely addicted to your videos. I sampled some of the other hoofing videos on RU-vid, and I was completely uninterested in them. There is something in your story telling that is almost meditative. Well done, and I will continue to view your videos for the foreseeable future.

I understand what you mean about the satisfaction of making them more comfortable. I was a dog groomer for years and even though it outraged me to have dogs come in solidly matted, it was very satisfying to know how much better they must feel after having all that taken off and being clean after who knows how long.

It amazes me just how central foot and dental care are to health, not just for humans, but for so many animals too

When I was a working RN, wound care nurse, now retired. I can only imagine the aroma! The reason I was chosen by my one facility to go to wound care classes is because my sinuses are dead due to chronic inflammation in the past. Only if the smell was really bad, could I smell it. I do appreciate those who can smell the wound.

I haven't the slightest idea how this guy's videos popped up in my recommended list but it got me curious so I watched a few. Now, I'm totally addicted to watching this guy do his job. His voice is a reminder of my Grandpa who was actually from Ireland, not Scotland, but still close in the accent. He was a WWII veteran of the US Air Force but passed around the early 1980s when I was a l>title girl. Anyway, I'm really loving these videos. They're all so interesting and educational too! I live in Southern Illinois, USA with a small cattle farm surrounding my home here in the country. Even when the farm had several head of cattle, I never saw a farrier or even a vet come out to check out the cows. Maybe there was a reason. Anyway, I have a question that so far I haven't heard addressed yet. When you use the grinder on the cow's/bull's hooves, do you clean and disinfect it before using it on the next cow? I was just thinking about those times you use the grinder and break through to a cavity containing pus and other nastiness. I imagine that you do clean it in between but I thought I would ask. Thank you for making my days go by a lot faster. 🎶🐦🇺🇲

I've done this in miniature when I've had a blood blister under a nail! By making a hole with a heated needle, you release the pressure!! Graham does exactly that on a huge scale!!

Do you ever start on the long process of trimming with the knife and realize you really should have just used the grinder for a little bit more to save yourself the energy and the cow the time? What's the best indication of when to switch from grinder to knife?

People can usually tell just by the sound level if the cow in the crush is in pain it would be much louder than the one in the shed next to you. The low mooing sound sounded like the cow either in the crush or the heffer waiting behind.

I know we've all said this before: y'all are amazing! They cows are so blessed to have such caring, compassionate caretakers. Keep doing what you do. We all hope to be as lucky as you to find our God given passion and talent. Cheers!
